For me it’s bullhead. They bite LITERALLY EVERYTHING and since my town isn’t good for fishing it’s already hard to catch bigger species like channel cats and flathead. I also hate drum because when I’m fishing my favorite spillway, since they fight hard I think I have a a huge fish on and it turns out to be a tiny drum 😂 😂 😂
@@sohammane4893 I've fished about every creek and pond in Louisville Kentucky pretty much and haven't seen a single one. Only place I could ever catch them was in a small pond in the woods a few hundred feet from a creek in Ohio on my uncle's farm
Spot on about the Gobies. You can't get bait to anything else without the gobies attacking it. Many fishing spots aren't fishing spots anymore. On top of that, they eat food other fish eat and fish eggs. The only benefit is that they eat small zebra mussels, so at least a different invasive is a little less prolific.
#1: Bullhead (of any variety, swallow hooks instantly, no fight, they take a still bait, and just sit there with it. Terrible) #2: Rock Bass (no fight, jittery and weird, just a waste of bait) #3: Northern Pike (when not ready for them, then when I target them, they don't bite 😞) #4: Freshwater Drum (I like them, but they're compulsive Hook Swallowers, and smell kind of funny, but don't kill them, they're almost our only defense against invasive Zebra Mussels) #5: Carp (if you're fishing for them, they're a BLAST, but if not, they'll wreck your gear. Personally, I love them, long as they're not bycatch) Just my opinions of course. I'm sure many anglers have very different lists. Edit: I nearly forgot about Gar. Haven't had trouble with them in a while. One Summer, my Channel Cat spot was swarming with them, and every time I put a bait out under a float it would get dragged around all night by Gar. Awful. Only was able to land a couple of them, but one was 48.5", and probably weighed about 11 pounds or so. That was fun.
I stopped bottom fishing in Milwaukee Harbor because of gobies. I caught one hundred of them in just a few hours once even using gobies as cut bait when I ran out of worms. Then I looked them up and you can't release them back into the water so after that I stopped fishing for them
I live in AZ, and if you know AZ it’s that there’s millions of channel catfish EVERYWHERE💀 I can only catch them when I’m targeting literally anything else. Somehow managed to NOT catch one today.
I guess I don't go for specific fish, so anything I catch is interesting. I've never caught a drum. Almost all the fishing I've done is on the lower Wisconsin River. Is that where you catch them on the Wisconsin?
@@ancientfishing ah, ok. Yea. That's what my grandparents called them. They used to catch them often. I haven't, but I don't feel like I'm missing out 😁
@holymackerel33 That's about all I catch on the lower wisconsin river. Or nothing. I was there today and left with nothing. On the upper wisconsin I do ok.
@@MikeYurbasovich I was trying to catch a small one today for bait. The Sturgeons were biting non-stop, caught like 10 of them before I gave up on trying to get a sheepshead.
Thank goodness that sheepshead were not on your list. Those things are annoying as drum can be. One time my nephew caught seventeen drum/sheepshead in a row down at my parents house while I was catching one of everything except flathead.. We even switch spots. It was so friggin funny.
@@ancientfishing we old people from Wisconsin call them sheepshead. I remember when I lived in Denver some guy went to Kansas and was talking about catching drum and I finally figured out what he was talking about about.
Gar have always been plentiful in MO but something happened a couple years ago and it seems like all I see are Gar anymore. I love catching big long nose gar and target them in the meramec but the small ones steal every piece of bait I throw out

Dude I wish I could catch bullhead here in KY, all we have that I seen are plenty of channel cats, blue cats and flathead lol

I agree with the long nose short nose opinion. The long nose fight really hard vs the short nose you just have to drag in.
Heyyyy I saw you last night at monona!!!! Haha happy fishing. I hope the walleye can start to come and annoy me too !! :D
