R.I.P. Trugoy aka Plug 2
Rest. In. Power.
Shoutout to Plug 1 for holding it down
Celestial Plug2! Can you imagine it?😊
Never the same without him but nice to see Prince Paul though. 💪
I've had this record since I was 13 years old. That was many many years ago. 😉
Whoever 😂
not ashamed to say i cried a little listening to this
Amen 😊
Guilty!
It got me too. ❤
Got a bit teary-eyed myself... Like, do you remember when hip-hop was art? I do. Skinny teen, early '90s, beaten down cassette deck, in some basement or garage, eyes and mouth wide open, listening to, well - this... good times. Pushing 50 now, still moves me.
I got a little teary when Pos did Dave’s verse. 🥺
What we just witnessed right here is literally Hip-Hop history. That was one of the most creative performances of all time. Showing us that Hip-Hop can be fun and highly artistic 🖼️
100%
great song but this was some primary school class play type set up
I miss old school hip hop when it was new. De La Soul is still awesome. The cooking bit was "well done" too.
i saw what you did there
😂😂👏👏👏 Agreed 💯 I miss this style of music, this performance made me so happy, and brought back some great memories from childhood 🫶☮️ Thank you De La Soul! Much love and respect, as always 🙏
God blessed the day De La retained ownership of 3 feet high and Rising.
🙌🏻💙
I hadn’t heard, just went to Spotify and sure enough, it’s there! Great news, thanks for mentioning it. 😁This album was one of the soundtracks to my first year of college. How time flies!
Sadly they got it right around the time trugoy died
This is what authentic hip hop sounds like! RIP David "Trugoy" aka Plug Two ❤
Agreed
🥲I had tears in my eyes when he introduced Plug 2. We need more De La Soul in our world right now: Native Tongues rule! Eye Know had to be chosen to flex about finally winning their long-fought battle over sample clearances… IYKYK 🦶🦶🦶
De La could've been a household name(s) if it wasn't for that lawsuit
RIP Trugoy, fucking legend
Same, @richardchoi168 ♥️🌼
Yeah I'm really nostalgic for music that is like a chop shop. Steal some Steely Dan from Peg steal the whistle from sitting on the dock of the bay. I got a tear in my eye for good music being bastardized like this.
@@stubbsmusic543Peace! You buggin; dope sampling is an art; Daddy-O told u all 😮it’s not stealing; it’s refining painting an entire new portrait! The canvas is now miraculous! Hip Hop is Forever!
Wholesome rap, classic hiphop - what the world needs.
What could have been... if the Industry wasn't into mind control for profit.
Remember 'me, myself and i'?
And as always “Three IS a magic number”
@@thanemakes5377, *the* magic number.
@@esobed1Gangsta rap set blacks back decades. And whitey was at the top of all that
Facts
De La Soul is the soundtrack of my childhood ❤
Me too 💙😍
and me 😀🌻
Great to see Prince Paul aka Plug 4.
Hope they sell those aprons as merch!
Absolutely beautiful. RIP Dave, we miss your colors daily, but your spirit lives within your family, your brothers, your fans and Hip-Hop itself.
I absolutely love Eye Know. What a fantastic performance!
De La Soul - nothing but smiles & good vibes. CLASSIC
Me in 1989, a younger NZ middle class white boy, jamming to this on my Sony cassette Walkman every damn day. Thanks De La Soul and RIP Trugoy.
Early March 1989 my bro returned to NZ from a trip to NYC and gave me 3 Feet High and Rising on cassette, it had only come out in the USA a couple of days earlier. I think I dubbed about 20 copies of that tape for friends, it wasn't available in NZ until quite a few weeks later initially as an import.
Oh man dude.. You hit the nail on the head!! Lol
Thank you, Stephen, for always presenting your audience with Hip-Hop with meaning, a story behind it, and message. Thank you sincerely for being one of the last mainstream outlets that showcases conscious Hip-Hop artists and the love and positivity so many of us have to share. You're the man, and De La Soul is FOREVER!!
✊🏾🤲🏾🫶🏾🤝👍🏼
3 Feet High and Rising is a classic debut and one of the greatest albums of all time, or any genre
💯
Nice to see Prince Paul there!!
that was class!
Clever cooking bit. Was listening w me, myself, and I..
The world needs lots of this right now.
I'd like to apologize for my younger self, who was 100% convinced there would be no way for a rapper to be cool after 50. Most of them aren't, to be fair, but these dudes prove me wrong!
Happy anniversary 3 Feet High and Rising. Thank you Dave
What an awesome performance! One of my favorite songs ever! RIP PLUG 2 Trugoy !!!!! ETERNAL
De La Soul ... a reminder of sunnier times. Let's channel those beats and change the world y'all.
Prince Paul doesn’t get enough love!
HBMS is the on another level!
The whistles started and I got goosebumps. Sounds of my teenage years❤❤❤❤❤
That was cool, so inventive, just like their music! That takes me back.. 35 years! Wow. Gave me goosebumps and a big smile! Still have the original 12" of this single, I'm gonna put it on.
Dope to see them with Prince Paul 🏆 RIP Plug 2 Dave
Daisy Age in full effect!! I luv this! ❤ De La for life. RIP 🕊️
De-La Soul & Prince Paul, I owe you for oh so many smiles, for turning dark days bright. David/Trugoy the Dove, rest in power, a legacy to be proud of and one that will continue to lift people up when they are down and get their heads nodding and their asses shaking. Nothing but love. Nothing but love.
Good to see that the other original member of the De La crew is back in the fold. Especially considering that Prince Paul was the architect of the De La Soul sound on their 1st three iconic albums
This is The Shiznit. De La Soul 💜☺
Oh, I remember the very day we received this nugget at our office. All the employees got crazy with it instantly overnight and it was played at full volume all day long in the warehouse for quite a while.
Instant happiness listening to that song❤🎉
Still Amazing after all these years, all around. Can't believe it's been 35 years. Love to all reading this ❤️
REAL HIP HOP LIVES!!
SHOUT OUT TO THE GODS!!
#DELA
I was a senior in college when this album came out, and played the tape until the oxide fell off. 35 years later I've been listening to it in my office all week celebrating the anniversary.
Miss you, Trugoy the Dove! I will always rep for the Soul!
De la soul is the reason I fell in love with hip hop. It was this album, and ever since I’ve been hooked on rap music. East coast, West coast down south! I luv it all, but it started with De La soul. This performance was so creative as always! Rest in peace Dave🙏🏾
Love De La Soul, real awesome, great hip-hop that was something special back in the day, no gang-banging with explicit lyrics; just great sounds with a message, good to see they haven't lost their touch after all these years. Also great work with the Gorillaz on Feel Good Inc.
Wonderful performance. One of the best love rap songs of all time. RIP Trugoy.
That was beautiful. A true friendship.
I love heavy sampling; it's sad that music like that can't be made anymore. Damn corporations.
It can be, it just requires lots of money to be exchanged. Which might be the right thing for the original artists, but only if they see any of it.
my favorite de la song, what a creative way to play it, rest in peace to dove
De La Soul
The way they illustrated the beat was. Masterful the Eye Know stew is DELICIOUS
Eye Know, with extra Peg!
You guys are adorable, in the most masculine and wonderful way. Balm for the soul.
I was 17 when this came out. Time flies and man, what a life. Rest in paradise Plug ✌️!
Loved it, old school rap that was about conveying a message and not shooting people with a gun.
Pretty sure some old school rap had references to shooting and guns. Mostly, it was railing against it because of how destructive it was to the Black community.
@canaisyoung3601 positive rap was present thought. Arrested development, positive p etc. . It might have gotten big.
De La Soul is an international treasure!!! Thank you for decades of touring you are cherished worldwide. Thank you Dave 🙏🏾🌻
Much love to one of the best hip-hop groups ever!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥
Only knew this artist from the feature in feel Good Inc. But damn I am into this sound!
They have so much great music. They've put pretty much all of it on their UA-cam channel. Well worth giving it all a listen.
Do your self a huge favor and go listen to the entire discography....binge it. You won't be disappointed. Common , Redman, Mos Def CHAKA KHAN show up on various albums.
Nothing beats De La, so happy get to hear their music digitally again, and Damn Plug1 you still got it! We miss you Trugoy
❤I have loved this group for such a long time, they are AWESOME 💖😎
this is why i love Colbert ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
I wasn't born when this song came out. My dad had the vinyl the day it released in the UK. When I was 13 he passed it onto me, as well as albums from people like KRS One and Jungle Brothers. This music changed my life. Hip-Hop changes lives, and will always be a reminder to me how cool my Dad is. Emotional watching this. RIP DAVE. De La Soul forever.
The DELA FOR EVER❤️❤️❤️
This is how it is done! De La Soul is still cookin'.
That intro was dope. I loved every second of this!
I needed this. 🙌🙌🙌🙌❤️❤️❤️❤️
Salute the legends! Wow! 🔥🔥🔥
True story: 3 Feet High and Rising was the first piece of music I ever owned when, for Christmas as a kid, I asked for the cassette tape (no CD's yet in my household). I wanted the record as I had heard Say No Go on the radio and was blown away. My parents bought it and I played it over and over and over. Thus began my lifetime love of Hip Hop. That album had a song called DeLa Orgy and I was so scared my mom would hear it and take the cassette away, lol.
Man these guys were my entrance to hip hop back 1989. I was 9 and absolutely captivated. Trugoy 😔
#ThankYouDave ❤️🙏🏾✌🏾
LOVE💖✨
This performance took me back and warmed my heart ❤️👑🎼🎧
3 Feet High is one of my all-time top 5 albums, and I'm not even a big hip hop fan in general. That record NEVER gets old, in fact as time goes by I feel like I "get" it in ways I didn't before.
This album changed everything for me when I was 13, and this song has remained my favorite De La Soul song ever. Fantastic!
I love this but I'm so sad right when they get their publishing back, right when all these anniversaries and good things are happening, Dave had to pass.
Rest in power to the one and only Dove 🕊️
Classic.
De la Soul still groundbreakers in live performance. Salute the Legends💯💯💯💯
Goosebumps!!! Best performance of the year
My favourite music group of all time. Mase, Posdnous, Prince Paul and Trugoy changed my life forever
prince paul and gravedigaerz
That was just so awesome ❤ Made.me.smile and giggle, remembering those easier good times with De La Soul in the 90's 😎
This was awesome. They still pop up on a couple of my Pandora stations.
That was amazing. So ready for these guys to do a victory lap.
🔥🔥🔥🔥 too much fire 🔥 I miss these days. Glad Prince Paul was there. Legendary 🔥🔥 keep going RIP Dove
A song for the happy raps collection for sure.
Nothing but ❤ for De La
This is the happiest song in Hip Hop
Brilliant performance. Legends.
Its awesome how they were interacting with the audience rarely happens with live performances on talk shows
I love this #thankyoudave #delasoulforever
That was very tasty intro. Love De La Soul
Loved this. Everything about it. Miss you Dave.
Thank you!!!
De La and Prince Paul cooking up some classic 🔥🔥🔥 music 🎶🎶🎶 ❤️
"We need 'Pegs' "
I smiled at that. Love the Steely Dan respect.
SAME!!
bummed out that the audience didn't react to it, but I guess it's a deeper cut than I thought lol
Legendary.
OH MY GAWD!! I’m crying…my childhood was awesome!
Timeless and a "must own" LP - Thank you for having De La on ... Class Act (Big Love) !!!!
