    Be careful Freddy when you take the triumph on the ramp under power that the back wheel doesn’t kick the ramp out from underneath it’s happened to me before it’s always best to drill a small a hole and put a safety pin through the ramp attaching it to the trailer and this will prevent it from happening

    Keep the Bonneville. It’s part of what makes your channel interesting, at least for me. There’s a charm in riding around on an old English bike that a new bike would simply not offer. Unless the Bonneville is about to croak on you, keep it, ride it, fix it when you need to, and let it be your adventure steed. But get the Harley for Monika. 😁

    Hi Freddie. I've only just started watching your channel and thinking about it I don't watch your content for the Bonneville, as nice a bike as it is. I watch to see your adventures, your musings and take on life. The bike definitely suits you so keep it if you love it so much. Too many channels are focused on pumping out new and exciting content, but I really like your slow paced approach, it's a bit of escapism for me.

    Keep the Bonneville! Dear god it’s a great fit for you and the channel. I watch a lot of motorcycle content and you stand out from the pack because of the Bonneville and your style. I even want one now haha if you could get a second bike however… or even a second rider… 🤔 but I do find your channel has a good range to it already. The MOT maintenance, the short and long trips and camping all very entertaining. Reviews of bikes are popular on UA-cam but maybe just getting a loan or something if you need to play to the gallery. Anyway that’s my 2 cents, keep up the good work.

There are already tons of other channels that just try a lot of bikes, but I think that in the end they they become boring. Hi Freddie, I disagree with bbq moto camping. The 'stove' is small enough but you have to carry fuel and charcoal which just takes up space and also the stove takes time to get going and can't be regulated. You're much better off with a camping gas canister stove, so many to choose from. I won't recommend one but check out other moto campers' channels.

    • @petejones1957
      @petejones1957 2 роки тому

      Camping gaz??? surely if it's has to be a stove, a Coleman Sportster petrol stove?, you've always got fuel at hand, little plastic pipe and siphon it out of the tank. they're lightweight, small, and really efficient, always used one camping with the Triumph Thunderbird. Lovely relaxing video as ever, love the allotment, Ours in Yorkshire has stayed green despite the hot summer.

    • @mrjoneseastend
      @mrjoneseastend 2 роки тому

      @@petejones1957 30 years ago I would agree but it's difficult to get fuel from a modern bike some of which could take more than an hour. I wouldn't recommend siphoning by mouth although siphon pumps are available.

    Check the deliverybox from proworks.You should use a strap to secure the ramp,important especially when you unload the Bonneville.
    I bought a ramp(not proworks) last winter because I had to move my bikes to a new garage.
    The seller of the ramp told mee to use the strap in deliverybox when I loaded/unloaded a bike.

    A couple of things I'd do to the trailer if it was mine Freddie. Put a sheet of ply or something each side of the wheel channel so you can step up onto the trailer bed as you're moving the bike up the ramp. It'll make loading super easy. I'd also beef up those safety chains a bit mate - those little buggers wouldn't restrain a Chihuahua by the look of them!

    ..... At 19 mins, I'm watching with my hands over my eyes, waiting for you to burn Monika's mum's special place to the ground, along with the veggies of any neighbour downwind.... Fortune smiled on you today, Freddie.... Monika, how many people would think to film, or even notice, the interplay of light on a wing mirror in partial shade, and the textural differences? Keep the Bonnie. You can refresh it as you want by doing a full exhaust, wrapping the tank, switching out chrome pieces for black pieces or other powder coats, and you can always switch out some of the other bits. That's a lot of content to be made! Also, the Bonnie is the reason I started watching. I wanted to see someone live with one and travel with one and I'm now planning a cross country trip on mine. Definitely get a second bike though because obviously. Lol

    Don’t change the Bonny Freddie. It’s intrinsic to the nature of the channel. We love the channel because of the doubts, uncertainties and anxieties it has and the bike is part of that. On a different note, a small strap (or two) securing the ramp to the trailer. This removes the chances of the ramp slipping off the trailer mid load, (not good, trust me) 👍🏻

    As others are pointing out, keep the Bonneville Freddie. The bike is iconically you and you love it.
    In my opinion, your main audience are not tuning in just to watch motorcycle content or the Bonneville. They watch your videos because you show a different side of the motorcycling lifestyle. The travelling, the clothing, the simple things as “oh it’s sunny I am going fit this part in the Bonneville then head with Monika to this old town to have a coffee”. Then you stop on the way there to check out an old car/old building and you focus on every single detail of it. That content is what makes your channel different and great to watch. It is not just about the bike you ride, there is a lot of content like that on UA-cam already.
    Your content is classy, authentic, entertaining. And you are a great communicator as well. The bike you ride is secondary.

    I like the Bonnie. You could make more videos about restoring it to tip top shape. Also, have you tried a jet boil/camping stove thing? That would be smaller/easier to fit on the bike than coal and a bbq. You can also turn it on and off instantly, which you cannot do with coal (might get pretty frustrating if you're in a hurry).

    Hi Freddie & Monica, Number 1- Definitely keep your Triumph motorcycle. You both look great on it together. You answered your own question so that ought to tell you. Keep capturing the moments as you have. One day you'll look back at that ole Bonneville with some very fond or if you will (proper) "as you English would say memories. Number 2- Always use straps to attach to your motorcycle ramps to keep the ramps from sliding away as you are loading your bike. Many accidents could have been avoided by taking an extra minute or two in attaching these straps. Much luck in your future endeavors!! Love your videos & keep them rolling!!! Two suggestions for loading any motorcycle via a ramp: fix the ramp to the trailer, and use a higher gear when walking the bike up the ramp. You can affix it by either tying it in some way or by drilling a hole through the ramp and the trailer and dropping a pin of some sort. Using a higher gear helps smooth out the power delivery so there's less need to feather the clutch so much while revving the engine.

    The ridge on that ramp looks designed to make the front wheel (at least), slip out. The wood was slippy you say? When I made my ramp (Wood), I painted it with some non-slip paint. You could also mix a little sand into a pot of wood paint and get a similar "non-slip" effect.

    • @FreddieDobbs
      @FreddieDobbs  2 роки тому

      When wet, the wood was like an ice rink and it later snapped (although it was poorly screwed together). Good shout on the anti-slip paint.
      Although this new ramp works superbly👌🏻👌🏻

    Hi Freddie, on the subject of moto camping, and cooking, you should look at the Firebox stove. They are so well designed, and compact. There is a huge community using these on the Firebox Stove channel, there are some great motor biking videos too. You’ll love it. The Aeropress coffee ‘machine’ is another great camping product…. Love your videos..

    In America we like to carry our bikes in the back of our pick up trucks. The loading process can be a little unnerving.

    I think your acceptance of equipment bulk (e.g. BBQ, tent, frying pan) is more appropriate for car camping.
    Check out a *back-packing or mountaineering shop* for equipment that is lighter and more suitable for a bike.

    Amazing, when I started watching this, I thought u need to update. 2nd thought, u buy a speed twin, street twin or scrambler, keep the Bonnie for Monica n fix it so she has no problems . Getting it sorted would be good content for another vid.

    Thanks Freddie Life goes on and there is a motorcycle waiting for me out there. I really enjoy the adventures you & Monika get into .. A Monika Harley ? time for me to buy maybe a RE ! I had my Triumph back in the day a 1977 T140 V Red & White color in Calif mufflers rusted out and I took them off..lol..got loud. I have a great story about saving the life of a baby deer with that loud Triumph.... there was a Silver Jubilee for the Queen of England that year , she had a wonderful long life and England did build and civilize and brought many good things to most of the world..

    Freddie, you test other bikes every now and then, I don’t think there’s any need to get a new bike.
    Your channel is fun, you’re a great, natural presenter, could totally see you do Escape to the country, or something like that on TV.
    It’s not only about the bike, it’s about you guys and your adventures.
    PS: I am glad you didn’t set the allotment on fire, setting up that bbq(er?) right near the dry grass..hah

    Also … you should get a light sheet of aluminium checker plate and put a floor either side of the bike channel on the trailer . It will make loading bike even easier plus u have a floor to tie other stuff to on your trips . It won’t add much to weight of trailer if done correctly

    Keep the Bonneville. You could do a ..'for the price of an Interceptor / my Bonneville' feature where you pick up alternative, including leftfield, 2nd hand bikes and keep them for while giving us your take before moving them on. Alternatively a similar ' Freddie borrows' feature could be interesting.

    Keep the Bonnie! It’s not old at all! It’s just dirty. PLEASE detail it, rims, engine, clay bar the paint, hand compound & polish. I had an 07 bonneville 2 tone black/white with gold hand pinstripes. Near showroom. Cleaned once a week (sometime just a simple
    Wipe down). All oils, brake fluids and chains meticulously maintained. Please just freshen her up mechanically and cosmetically. Shouldn’t need much especially after just passing MOT. That brake dust and bugs on front of tank is killing me. I know you love the HD sportster (I’ve had 3) but I cant imagine you on anything but a British twin! Whatever you do keep cranking out this amazing content! Maybe do a bike detailing video? God speed my friend

    BBQ s are great I have a different model I use when camping . Load it on the rack then put my tent on top. Enjoy yours.The only problem is I have to wait ages for the coal to cool after cooking .so I can dispose of it without a fire risk.

    Keep the Bonnie Freddie, it suits you so well!! Having a second bike is a nightmare, unless it is for a very different use: on-road/off-road or road bike/city bike. I had 2 road bikes for a moment and I was always unsatisfied of not using the other bike, whatever the bike I was riding at the moment!

    Freddie its seems to me that all you need to do to your exhaust is drill the rivets out and remove the baffle as it sounds if its loose and rattling.
    Then buy some exhaust packing to wrap around the baffle with wire to fix it.
    Refit and into the pipe with new rivets.
    Jusr a idea to save you money from buying a second hand one.
    Oh a keep the Bonnie as many other's have said your regret it definitely.
    Thannk Keep up the good work!

    Keep the Bonnie Freddie! It's yours now and you clearly love it. I had a gorgeous 1200 sportster like the one in the video and I regret using it as a trade in for a softail. I should have saved up a deposit in hindsight as the sportster owed me nothing and would have been cheap to keep on the road. I think you'd regret parting with your bonnie.
