      @@connorlasserre347 it would fit but how people treat someone who is neuro diverse is the reason why I would argue that people should change their approach from, "Yeah, that's not right" to ," I want to make sure if he is right". People who have autism gets instantly judged as freaks and weirdos. I can testify as I been treated the same way through my life. It's how people are and can be the root of bullying at times. This young Doctor is autistic, very intelligent and intelligent people are very straightforward. Not that he is blunt, he's just honest

    • @DashOnWaves
      @DashOnWaves 3 місяці тому

      Autistic people are straightforward and honest through any circumstance. If they do "Lie", its because they actually just didn't tell you yet rather than actually lying to you. They usually have a strong sense of why they choose to be honest and not hold their feelings and opinions back, or they go through a period of testing out lying and holding back, but it usually just reminds them why they have to live honestly with themselves. Its not that intelligence causes you to be blunt in this way, because even the most intelligent person can have emotions and the ability to empathize with others enough to not admit it in public that somebody is dying. Dr. Murphy is Autistic, and the fact of pancreatic cancer is a fact, and it bothers him to not tell it as it is because being brutally honest fits the direct purpose of letting the patient know as fast as possible, and therefore being the best course of action, regardless of how it may make the person feel initially.
      Autistic people tend to have a deep desire to say what they think and blurt out things even if it may get them in trouble. If you are awful, they tell you. If the colors don't look good on you truly, they will tell you, or fight demons to try not to share it. There is always a deep mechanism of the brain that just prevents them from feeling too comfortable with hiding their thoughts and opinions.

      It's just so unfortunate that this show is such a misrepresentation of what autism is and how it's both an endorser of and sponsored by Autism Speaks. Autism Speaks is an infamously anti-autistic institution that everyone thinks is a supporter of autism because they market themselves that way. But do not be mistaken, their ultimate goal is a "cure" for autism (which, by the way, doesn't and shouldn't exist or be pursued). They're piloted mostly by helicopter parents who coddle their children and people who have an internalized autism-phobia. Autism Speaks and, subsequently, this show, are both incredibly anti-autism even though they portray themselves as supporters.

Saying something like "People sometimes get very upset when they find out they only have less than a year to live" is a blunt presentation that might seem overly presentative on a TV screen to you, but that's exactly what I would say if I haven't manually built the social skills to understand and communicate subtly in a sensitive situation where I would need to understand the cues as they're coming.

    Points ro remeber.
    1. In series what they show are complicated cases , which r diagnosed late like pancreatic cancer . Shaun picked up in stage 3. But no one goes by counting burps and confirm diagnosis.
    2. Good doctors always have destructive thinking( why cant this be)
    Simple diagnosis is first followed by complicated ones.
    3. Never come to conclusion to one diagnosis in complicated cases. Differential diagnosis r there to work up the patient.
    Thank you.

    • @PrimordialNyx
      @PrimordialNyx 3 місяці тому

      Some other points
      4. Interpersonal communication is important for the correct cooperation between patient and healcare provider. And it's vital for giving best possible treatment.
      5. When a person is suspended of having a serious diagnosis they're being held for monitoring. They aren't let go to do work as if nothing happened.
      6. When a person has to give important/serious news to a patient but is unable to for any reason, they don't say out loud the issue. Another doctor will go and inform them and as they do, the other doctor will observe.
      7. Reflexion.
      Learning what went wrong: way of communicating
      Figuring out a solution: write notes about occasions or ask your colleagues for advice. Etc
      Gibb's cycle would be pretty helpful.

The doctors thought they had gotten it all out, what would have been a 1% chance miracle. And for about a year he was doing alright. Sadly my mom and I got a call when I was a senior in high school saying we needed time go to the SF Children’s Hospital. I’ll never forget seeing him with tumors and cancer growths scattered all over his body, some the size of golf balls. He managed to push through a few more months to see his little brother and myself graduate high school, but eventually he got weak and he passed a few weeks after. I’ll never forget smoking weed with him to get him through his pains and the laughs that would arise. Love you Kevin, and we all miss you buddy 🕊️
