Andara & Happy New Year Uraia & Clan! Your videos have been priceless to me - Living in the “city” of Birmingham England these last few years, but especially last couple months (and Christmas time) has been full of city craziness... these videos bring home the real humanity. Why is there need in this modern world for all this energy spent on craziness? Lets just just breathe the clean air, view the golden sun in sky & eat custard pie! Although I have yet to try the Malay / Rose / Water Apple...

I thought she cracked eggs in mug to make sure no shell entered mixture. The easiest way to check if eggs are ok is to submerge them in water. If they sink they are good, if they float they are bad. This way she could check all eggs at once. ( Of course she will need more than a mug. 1 large bowl will do the trick). Happy new year.

I want Them to have the freedom to Express their personalities and Thats What People love because it makes it authentic. Im happy that we Can showcase the village life to kids in overseas But they Can also learn the veitavaleni culture and Thats How me and tavales speak to eachother. Every video goes through UA-cams review process Where I highlight everytime that swearing is included in the video and every video have been approved every time. Vinaka.

A classic, the perfect pastry to go along with tea or some other hot beverage. Even the custard mixed with condensed milk is divine and topped with crushed peanuts is something my grandmother would make when baking custard pie. 😋
Anyways pie is usually cheap as usual in the villages compared to places like Suva and Nausori, and speaking of the village one cannot escape the "brown label" as in your case Uraia. 🤣

    • @uraiatabua

I'm probably just an emotional person, but I cried seeing this video. My childhood came to life. One of my favorite childhood desserts! ❤️ No one I know knows how to make this delicious pie. I remember at school, after dance concerts and at Hibiscus festivals, we would get these. Sooooo yummy!
Thank you for sharing this very real and authentic video. The lifestyle, the family dynamic, food, everything about it is all the things I miss so much! I grew up in Levuka. My Dad was a police officer there and after he died, we had to leave 😔 I miss Levuka. The life there, there people, the culture, everything. I even knew Fijian language and spoke just like you guys. Indian girl in a Fijian body 😊

that looks like very hard work and patience., watching your video remined me how my grandmother used tablespoons or fork to beat salad dressing
she would sit for over an hour until mixture was set.

If the dough is hard the pastry feels like biscuits? No worries triffle it ga. When pastry like biscuits cut them in slices put in a dish layering it. One layer the pastry baked one like biscuits mix cream butter sugar well layer it top of biscuit layer. Next custard and add fruits like pineapples water melons pawpaws and dessicated coconuts shred it. You have all those fruits in the villages there. Next another layer of pastry biscuits repeat the layers.
If you got an icekey or huge pot fill it with cool water. Put your tifle dish inside in the middle that is if you got no refrigerator or ice cubes. It makes the trifle dessert settle firmy and good to enjoy.

Bula Ura, totoka vakaoti na pie. Loved the island/village life. Isa, way back in 1988, when I was attending Delana Methodist High School, during school break. I went and spent Christmas and New Year in Niubasaga Village with the late Momo Nasarawa and families (Ratus). Best and unforgettable time of my life ♥️ Went out fishing, qoli, picnic at Nasautabu Island, grog at night, also spend a week in Caqelai Island with Nei Di Litia and the crew. Really enjoyed it. Anyway, born and bred lad here from Levuka Vaka-Viti, knows the in and out of village life haha 😊 Moved to the UK 🇬🇧 in 2001. Qai loloma yani vei nomu Na (Merelita) next time you speak to here. Keimami na vuli vata mai Delana, she was one year ahead of me. I'm known locally as Billy Boy. Loved all your vlogs, exciting, very educational, village projects looking good, Josese and the lads too funny etc. Next time/vlog au na sponsor taki Josese me bulia dua na kuro lolo bun😅 Loloma, over and out.🙏🙌💪
