Beautiful hammer, personally I would have put a step wedge to add some more strength. But still beautiful and should last Edit: yes Ranglestar. The man, the myth, the legend
That turned out really beautiful! I wish I could have you replace all of the handles on my blacksmithing hammers with wood exactly like that. You're a great craftsman of your trade thank you for sharing your amazing work.

What kind of wood are you using and do u soak it in oil, if so what kind. Thanks. It is by far the most beautiful handle I’ve ever seen. That’s just my opinion. Love it!!!

Hello poom, have you ever used a Shinto rasp? I think you would enjoy using it more than a normal rasp. It’s what I use for my hammer handles and it’s faster than a regular rasp.
What is the best type of wood to use for this? On the cheaper side but also not cheap enough to split or crack on you while you use it? Seems like a really cool hobby I’d enjoy getting into ! Amazing work as always tho !
Thank you very much, I think a suitable wood for a practical handle would be hickory or ash. For us, we do it more as a hobby for collecting and displaying.👍🙏😊
This might be a dumb question, but it comes from a place of ignorance: Why does the hammer head not snap off with moderate force, due to the part that slides in being so thin? Is it the wedge? I have no idea, but it looks fantastic.

Doesn't need another wedge unless it starts coming loose, which it wont for a while.

I've never seen people use a block to help with taking out nails. Is there a particular situation you would do that in?
This will make nail removal easier when you're using long nails. You must try it.😁🙏👍

Not sure the wood choice was a good idea. This will have way less shock absorption than usual hammers. Still looks nice tho.
