Watching this, I remember Josh Howard, it makes me realize how far we have come as a country… Weed, speeding, celebrating yourself, star spangled banner. He was 15 years too early
So you think going 94 in a 55 is something to be glorified? Yeah, your ass belongs in jail.
@@m3gusta17 bruh can u read? I said where we have come as a country, not that I agree or disagree with these decisions
It was more injuries anyway
It’s true he would be celebrated sadly now
I never cared about the star spangled either people must look up the original lyrics to that song it not a patriotic song it’s a racist anthem
Some weed, a party and a speeding ticket? My how times have changed!! Seems lame to hold these things against someone.
Facts
Yeah it was a totally different time. Weed was frowned upon…his play and partying ways. And with those comments didn’t help
@@ReeceMOS yeah it was mainly his play after injuries. Speeding ticket was never that big of a deal & weed was frowned upon but getting caught 1 time lol
Lmao the way this man is talking😭

At least he's not a liar or a thief and he made MILLIONS!!! I wish him well.
And at least he’s not too bright either.

Josh Howard's from my hometown. He went to HS and played ball with my homie's brother and was best friends with one of my neighbors. Never met him but he gives back to the community and kids all the time. Much Respect 💪🏿💯
Met him a few times, he would come into the restaurant I worked in Winston
You know what’s crazy? ESPN, the media, and the NBA would treat that viral video completely different had it happened in 2021. Probably wouldn’t even be traded
Fr
Completely different take today. Would have been praised by some even but there would be little to no backlash today. Makes you think of the other hundreds possibly thousands of possible nba players that didn’t get their opportunity with the league because of something outside of basketball. Completely different league today in that regard.
He got a speeding ticket, spoke about liking marijuana and kneeling during the Pledge of Allegiance,,, he was ahead of his time...Just think around the same time J.Epstein was walking around carefree and lawless.
False they killed the Miami fat black boy for a bong
@@acenofrontz3435 Kneeling during the pledge of allegiance? No, he just said he don't celebrate the Star Spangled Banner. Lol two totally different things. If you kneel during the anthem, you're still partaking in the anthem. Howard showed no respect at all towards the SSB.
That video wasn't his downfall, tearing his acl was
Back to back ACL tears at that. The trade happened because his behavior. But his career 100% ended due to those injuries
Facts there's niggas that are far worse in the NBA than Josh. Crazy how times have changed 19 years later his antics are nothing today ✊🏾
Truth. The acl. Still loved in Dallas
Yep bc after he was sent to Washington, he still had a 14.5 PPG performance
The story telling made it seem like it was sad. My man stayed true to himself and it costed him some things but when he got a 2nd chance to humble himself he took it and thrived sounds more like a success story of a boy growing into a man
Right
And played 11 years it didn’t end his career
Yeah this guy is reaching for views or he might just be a new age melodramatic male
Josh Howard is still a GOAT in Dallas. Great person for the community and a good guy in all. May God continue to bless him.
I like how this story of his ended in a positive way! He actually started to reflect on his mistakes and tries to teach other people what could be done to prevent them. Good for him.
Young kid from the streets of NC made some bad decisions as a kid in high school , made it out, balled out in the league , stayed true to his beliefs years before athletes started kneeling and denouncing systemic oppression that naked eye can’t see, naked eye such as the one of the narrator.
Not to excuse or explain his decision making process but yes, he drove fast, smoked weed, took care of his family and community, threw a bday party in the middle of the playoffs, yes he went from the nba to a small school coach, made money, probably lost it too, can’t take it to the grave anyway, but he’s doing well coaching doing what he loves, you live and you learn, this video is not as sad as the narrator wants you to believe, because he doesn’t understand, some things simply go over his head, simple as that, you can’t know what you don’t, but you can educate yourself and practice empathy then maybe you can have a sense of what these young men go through.
Who and what truly define success: society ? The narrator ?
Well It’s his story and a success story if you ask me no matter how you slice it.
Well said
Facts ✅💯
Lol
true
Imagine how good he would have been if he made smart decision, he settled for less because he is selfish! It wasn't the speeding ticket, it was a microcosm of his decision making, if he would of been hurt it would have devalued the team, he's undependable
This man was truly ahead of his time. He'd have been celebrated today, damn what a talent.
Lol
Man all I get from this story is that he lived out his dreams and he played in the NBA and did it on his own terms…smoked weed and was public about it…partied hard w the groupies….Drive exotic sports cars to the limit….the American dream lol

One of my favorite players from back in the day. He was awesome on the Mavs with Dirk. He made a lot of stupid choices, and was seen as immature, but he could flat out ball before the injuries took their toll. He’s still underrated to this day! Even in the supremely deep 2003 draft, he should’ve been a top 10-15 pick.
He was ahead of his time 😭😭 Niggas take knees during then national anthem now😭

Putting strikes on someone like your the law. He was living his life. He addressed an issue that this country been covering up. Why should he pretend. Respect ✊ goes out to Mr. Howard both on and off the court.
So you think an athlete should destroy their team chemistry by living their life? It's a good thing you're not an NBA GM. Your team would be at the bottom of the league every year.

Josh Howard was one of my favorite players when I was growing up its unfortunate the way he was treated when this doesnt even really garner news coverage in sports media today.
And that’s y this country is falling apart
Different times. You can't apply the social climate of today to the past. Can you apply the social climate of the future to the present day? How about WWII? Should we have treated Germany than like we are ally's now? He acted stupid. Glad he learned from it though because not learning from your mistake is even worse.
This vid is a bit far reaching. Even with all of these perceived negative headlines, Howard still went on to average 14.5 ppg with Washington. Not great, but not necessarily a sign of the "end of his career." Also to mention is that his ppg and shooting percentage were up from the year before with Dallas. What ACTUALLY led to his downfall was an ACL injury where he was out for 8 months. He was never the same after this injury. He did not magically go from 20 ppg to 6 ppg in 1 year.
Facts. The ACL injury makes all of the other points irrelevant.
So true. Glad you said this, because this video should of then never even be made.
@@AquarianAngel A headcase? Sounds to me like like he knew who he was and stayed true to himself. Aside from the speeding ticket (not a huge deal) I see no problems with what he did.
@@keysd31 American culture in 2008 is vastly different from American culture today. Had he been playing in the league now and been born a couple years later speaking against the flag, the whole birthday spectacle and admitting to smoking weed would not be any detriment to his career at all. Problem was he did all of that when weed was still illegal and the country was still high on patriotism. If anything the birthday spectacle would've been his first strike. Drawing attention to yourself while your team is in a critical position in a playoff series is NOT a good look in any era. The speeding thing would be an obvious 2nd, especially had that led to a serious accident.
And in the Dallas vs Hornets series, The Hornets we’re the 2 seed and heavily favored to win.

Hi
You are very sincere and sympathetic in your story telling. Even though its content you understand people's livelihoods were destroyed. Thank you for being human
I've been a Hooper all my life and if he was averaging 12 points a game than he was not the reason that they lost in the playoffs. People stop letting these media outlets control narratives use your brain when your digesting information
Being a hooper your whole life is not a valid point, it's called an appeal to authority and it's a logical fallacy to believe an argument based on some hypothetical expertise. Maybe Howard wasnt to blame for playoff losses, but to say that a player scoring only 12 a game couldnt be the cause of a series loss is ignorant. A player could hypothetically score 30 a game and deserve blame if, for examples, they do one of the following: score 30 game a game while shooting under 20% from the field, make 20 turnovers a game, play zero defense while having no rebounds or assists. That's just 3 examples of how you could score 30 and be the reason your team loses. You were balling too long not to have common sense about the game.
