I live in the UK and I always go into The Works, you don't get everything but a lot of the time there's something I want! I got The 5th Wave there for £2! Another place I get cheap books is supermarkets! They usually have the popular books with 2 for £7 deals!
I love the works. I was on holiday in the UK once, & bought the Divergent bo set for only £10 I wanted to get The Maze Runner box set too, but I ran out of luggage space 😭
Another great place to find very cheap books is your local thrift store! My local thrift store sells books for 50 cents. Granted the book variety they have will depend on the donations they receive. So some days I go and all they have are cheesy 80's romance novels. but other days I find a gold mine of books from recent releases, to classics. It's fun cause you never know what you will get.
Rebecca Daughtry I got a hardcover copy of alliegent (divergent series) for like 2 dollars at my thift store and they had signed peice of paper inside from the author
Sometimes my library sells books that they can't keep any more (bad condition or not super popular) and I've bought books in fantastic condition from there for 50 cents each! Most of their books are old, mass-market paperback adult books, but they do have some YA books here and there! So libraries are good places to buy books, too, if you're lucky!
sometimes i go to book stores w my friends and we each buy a book and when we're done we switch and it's great and it goes in a big circle bc i have a big friend group and i love it and it's like seven books for one and i just love friendship
I'm early again!! For people in the UK who want cheap books go to The Book People, they have saved me so much money! The hardback of the Bone Season was £2.50 :))
+The Perks Of Being A Bookworm Lowplex is also good for people in the UK. I got 6 Maria V Snyder books there for £15. I also get a lot from the 3 for £5 offers at The Works.
Sasha can you please do a video on tips on reading and filming in college. Because you seem to be keeping up really well with reading and videos! Please share your ways with us!
So my local library does this awesome thing where they sell books that don't get checked out much anymore or are in somewhat bad condition and it's a quarter per book
For people who live outside of the US its amazing. I live in Portugal and when I buy books from Amazon I pay almost as much for shipping as I pay for the book, so BookDepository is great for me :)
+Inês Ribeiro I'd imagine! I mean, that's what the site is really geared towards. For us here in the US, though, Amazon shipping is free if the order is over $30. So it ends up being less, since the prices are typically one to three dollars less than Book Depository.
A looot of people were/are against Amazon, because it supports some "author" who wrote a fake memoir and promoted it as if it were a true story that happened to him. Then he got caught and is now writing under another name and has a publishing company. The company i believe published Dorothy must die and some other very hyped books. This is all stuff that i gathered from videos and reading online briefly, so it could totally be wrong, but i think thats the gist of it.
+lyann1213 Really? I've never even heard about that. I, honestly, don't care about those types of drama stories (even if they are true). All I know is, they're quick, cheap, and I never have any issues with them. So I keep buying from them and will continue to.
Thank you so much for the book depository website. You don't know how much it means to me. I'm Greek and with the crisis nor I or my family can afford the books that I would like at full price. This might be the best way to get books without having to burden my family. Thank you Sasha!
Half Price Books is based in Dallas, TX. It's the go-to bookstore here in Texas other than Barnes and Noble. I love it and it's always the nearest book shop.
I love the book depository, it is so great I use it heaps. Sometimes the books can be a little damaged when they arrive though, but I still recommend it a lot.
For anyone who lives in NYC or plans on visiting, theres a book store called The Strand that has really good prices. One time I got 5 books there for about the same price of one hardcover book at barnes & noble
For people who have trouble returning library books there are alternatives. Certain local libraries collaborate with websites like overdrive for digital titles. You just need a current library card in good standing to gain access. The larger the library system, the larger the collection. The lending process is pretty much the same as the physical books that you'll borrow from the library i.e. hold for newer titles, check out only those that are available, renewals to extend length of loan etc. The difference is that the titles are automatically "returned" and you simply have to clear them from your device once expired. No late fees or keeping track of the physical books. Local libraries also sell books to own for pretty cheap as an intermittent/ongoing fundraiser. There's also something called a "little free library". Basically you take a book and you leave a book. They have a website that registers the areas where people have added a little library. Just do a search for "little free library" in google, it should be the first link. The selection might be sparse but if it's in you area, it's worth a look.
It's probably really late that I say this, but I just found this video after watching your videos for a couple of days. But THANK YOU for telling about Book Depository. I really needed this. I usually buy used books on Amazon (and stores), but sometimes the used ones cost almost the same as a new one, even if it's a paperback. Plus with the shipping, it can become expensive. So thank you again. I'm so going to use that site. Plus I love your channel. I love hearing about all the books. It has made me want to read again. Which is kind of amazing, because I have not finished a book in around 4 years and before that I read a least 1 book a week. So thank you again and sorry for the long rant, that you probably isn't going to read. :)
I'm also a big fan of the library and bookoutlet.com for getting books for cheap/free. I'm so glad you told me about book depository! I see it all over BookTube, but never checked it out until now. The site is amazing!!! Thank you!
Such great suggestions, thanks for this! I just ordered my first book from Book Outlet, and my first used Amazon book last week! Hopefully the latter is on good condition!
i wish this video came out a bit earlier when i was ordering some books from amazon! I could have saved a BUNCH of money! But thank you sooo much for sharing these great places. I see more books in my future, without decimating my monthly budget!
A great website is thriftbooks.com. If I ever get more money, it will go there because the deals are AMAZING and they are used, which to me adds more character to the book itself. Like great books. 3-6 bucks. YAAASSSSSS
What i do, is get books from second hand stores. In the ones that i go to, like value village, the books are in great condition, as if they are brand new! They ussually cost around 3 to 5 canadian dollars (i live in canada). I got most of my books from their and its where i started to grow my book collection! Happy reading 😀😀
I was literally just at half price... sometimes I hate going there because I know I end up broke when I walk out. THE STRUGGLE IS TOO REAL. Love your videos! and your background/lighting is absolutely gorgeous!!!!!
Another way is to check if your library has an overdrive setup, if it does you get to read loads of library books online through the overdrive app, I gushed about this in a similar video , its so useful, try look up your library it saves you having to get up to borrow a book
I live in the UK and I love The Works. They also have reward cards where you can deals on books and other things too. They have a 3 books for £5 there, I picked up Ink and Bone by Rachel Caine, Red Queen by Victoria Averyard and Shadow Study by Maria V Snyder. I was so happy to pick those books up for £5.
MY GAWD thank you so much Sasha, I've spent over $350 on books in the last 2 weeks and at least $50 of that was on shipping!! This will save me so much!!!
I won a book recently! it's called the cruelty by Scott bergstrom. it sounds like taken with liam neeson EXCEPT the one where he's been taken and his daughter has to do the finding
Here are a couple tips depending on where you live: 1. If you live in a college/university town, there are definitely used book stores somewhere near campus. Also, you can often find free books being given away by particular academic departments (English, Psychology, etc.). 2. Depending on how big a town you live in, there's probably an organization called something like "friends of the _______ public library", and sometimes they have enormous sales of donated and retired books. A lot of them also have small stores that you can visit like any other book shop.
Thrift stores and library book sales! I have gotten most of my books from Goodwill and similar stores and from my library where they sell off the books they withdraw. I've also gotten good deals off amazon. A few days ago I bought 5 books ( including a vintage one!) for 99 cents each at a second hand store :) it takes some digging and it's definitely hit or miss but worth it! I also practically live in the library! ( although I'm so bad at getting them back on time... And wrack up debt like crazy...) Yes I am a cheap bookworm .... And proud of it!! Thank you so much for this! :)
Same! I've been going to thrift stores lately and every time I find BRAND NEW hardcover books for $1-$2! Tops! I bought 9 books (all in great quality, 4 of them being hardcover) for $13. I was a sooo happy. I'm definitely going to keep my eyes open for those stores from now on :)
+Mary Darko WTF? I don't think I've ever been in an Asda store, since we have Sainsbury's, Tescos or Iceland next to where I live, but omg, Asda, I'm coming for your sweet arse. I always end up going waterstones or WHSmith! Which are ALWAYS full price, mainly waterstones is, WHSmith, there's always some type of offer.
Hatiah Begum really? I used to live near sainsbury's but I moved out of that area, they have pretty cheap books but to be honest, Asda has more books than sainsbury's
Try overdrive app. It connects you to library digital media. Audiobooks ebooks and automatically returns them when they expire. Also! If the selection is limited some libraries ( I only tried it with one library) let me sign up for a limited library card access which I could use on my app to get their selection too! I imagine you can add several library’s to choose from this way
Thanks Sasha! :D I usually use bookdepository or amazon (used secction). All the used books that I bought for a low price, at amazon, came like new,, so it is the first place that I check when I need a book
Me and my friends use something similar to your last idea, we kinda have a shared library, each of us buys a book or and entire series and borrows to each other.
Tanks for your advice! I'm def going to take some of it... I usually go to the library bookstore... SO cheap. I'm new to book tube and have been posting some new videos, so I'm looking for cheap books!!:)
Sasha u r the best😍. I always had problem buying books bcz i dont have much money but now bcz of u i kno about some websites where i can buy books at a cheap price, so THANK U😀😀😀
When we got a Half Price Books near me I went to the Grand Opening (it was cold & early in the morning but so worth it) and am obsessed. It's not in the city I live in, but I'm starting a new job in a week that is in that city so I know I'm gonna be back to going there all the time.
My dad has won over a hundred books in the last year on Goodreads. Sometimes the author's even send merch with the books. It's so cool! But I've tried it too and I haven't won a book yet in like 6 months. Also, me and my brother always share books so that they're cheaper. I used to use libraries, but I lost a book once and when I went to pay the fine, the librarian was super bitchy and kept insulting me and telling me to be more responsible, so I just left without paying and now I'm not allowed to use the library.
I'm from Australia and today I bought breaking dawn (hardback) from England for $13 free shipping off eBay. That fact that near me hardbacks are $45 it was great
In the town I live in my library has Library Book Sales around 3-4 times a year which is where I get most of my books. They have people donate old books they don't want anymore which they would probably be giving away anyways and the library sells them for really cheap (2$ for hard cover and soft cover, 50cents for paper backs and children's books) over a weekend all the money goes to the library so they can buy better equipment and new books and stuff like that and I have gotten TONS of amazing books from it. They also do a deal on the last day (the sunday) where you fill a bag for 7$ because they don't have room to store the extra books that are left over and want to get rid of them. It might be worth looking into local libraries to see if any of them do something similar because my town is pretty small so I'm sure bigger places could have them, though I haven't really heard about it anywhere else. Whats even better is that I always volunteer helping set up so I get an early pick of things! They also have lots of other books like cookbooks and I've gotten some comics before, and they get CDs and DVDs and I've gotten entire seasons of shows before. Sometimes they even have video games but unfortunately they are usually 360 or PS2 or older games and since I have an xbox one there haven't been any I can use but I did pick up a 360 game in hopes that when they bring out backwards compatibility it will be one of the games that works with it. This comment got really long really fast oops! Hopefully it helps and if any of you have library book sales I'd love to know because I'm not sure if its just my town that does it or if its elsewhere too! I also know that places like walmart and Chapters/Indigo have lots of books with 40% stickers on them. Its not always worth it to buy them but a lot of the times they will put really popular books there or newer books which usually aren't discounted which is great. I just recently got Percy Jacksons Greek Heroes for 40% off which is great because that book is HUGE and kinda pricey. Plus its better than full price! Also for any of you Canadians out there Chapters/Indigo also sometimes has books priced 4.99$-6.99$. Its not always the most popular books and they don't always have them (I've found it usually just in the really big stores they have instead of the smaller ones) but I have picked up a couple books I wouldn't have normally considered getting and ended up really liking them. I find the more I keep an eye out for good deals the more I find and the less times I end up paying full price for books.
Boston (especially Cambridge) has so many amazing bookstores! New and used! :) Explore your bookish city! Also there's a really quaint used bookstore in Salem, MA, but I forget what it's called. Side note Salem is super fun in October, and I totally recommend that experience at least once.
Some Libraries like the one here also have bookstores in them that sell used and new books. The books sales go back into the library to purchase more books. It's like a vicious circle for a good cause. So if you are in or near the Columbus, GA area, check it out. (that was not a pun or a plug, just info).
I won 3 books from Goodreads! I was so happy and excited! Just saying, many of the giveaway books on Goodreads are debut novels. But there are also books by very well known authors, especially the book is just being released. Like they're having a Carry On by Rainbow Rowell giveaway (idk if it's finished already) and the book Mirrored by Alex Flinn (who is one of my favorite YA fairy tale retelling authors)
abebooks.com has good prices too with free shipping. I can get at least 3 books (used) for under $10 and sometimes if you are lucky you can even get a new book for very cheap!!
if you live in boston and you feel like making a little trip to the coast, there is a thrift store in gloucester mass called second glance that sells all books for 25 cents! and they have some really good books!
Another fabulous place to get cheap books are the Friends of the Library Bookstores. Almost every library I've ever seen has a bookstore attached which is stocked by donation and discontinued library selections. Ours has a 50% off day once a month...I spend so much money on that day! Check it out.
I recently just subscribed to you and boy oh boy I'm glad I have! You're hilarious and extremely helpfulll omgI love books so muchhhh but the books in my area are sooo expensive. I did have a local used bookstore recently and it closed down :/ Thank you so much for these sites!! You are a life saver!I saw this video way too late ^~^

+Cooleen Books yes that's where I got my divergent books from too!
I have so many classics in old editions but really great conditions from the thrift store.
Rebecca Daughtry i buy so many books at my local thrift store and it's really amazing
Rebecca Daughtry I got a hardcover copy of alliegent (divergent series) for like 2 dollars at my thift store and they had signed peice of paper inside from the author

+The Perks Of Being A Bookworm Lowplex is also good for people in the UK. I got 6 Maria V Snyder books there for £15. I also get a lot from the 3 for £5 offers at The Works.
Their points system is so good! They have deals on all the time as well 😊

all of the colors in the background with your shirt and hair are just so pleasing to look at
Half Priced Books is definitely one of my favorite bookstores. CHEAP BOOKS ARE GREAT.
Sasha can you please do a video on tips on reading and filming in college. Because you seem to be keeping up really well with reading and videos! Please share your ways with us!
the setup is beautiful like this!
+Jasmin Laufeyson indeed :)
So my local library does this awesome thing where they sell books that don't get checked out much anymore or are in somewhat bad condition and it's a quarter per book
You have no idea of how much I thank you for telling me about book depository, I'm pretty sure international readers are forever thankful.
LOVE this set up!! Your hair and the map look so good!! 😍😍😍
The colour of your shirt really suits you Sasha! Love your videos
For people in the US, I don't get what the big deal is about Book Depository. Amazon is SO much cheaper.

Oh my god I love half priced books! One of my favorite places to go

I've been stopping in our local thrift shops (goodwill and value village) $2-$3 a book! Will definitely check out the sites you recommend.
Thanks for bookbub! I love it just downloaded 6 books. I now recommend😊
omg can you pleaseeeeeee do a tour of your dorm?! My heart melted when I saw the background!
And wrack up debt like crazy...)

I live near a shop in the UK called Asda and it's literally like £3.99 so that's where I get most physical books
+Mary Darko Asda is always the best for new books! Although I find that amazon ends up offering the same price :)
+Mary Darko WTF? I don't think I've ever been in an Asda store, since we have Sainsbury's, Tescos or Iceland next to where I live, but omg, Asda, I'm coming for your sweet arse. Supermarkets are the best place for cheap books omg
Hatiah Begum really? I used to live near sainsbury's but I moved out of that area, they have pretty cheap books but to be honest, Asda has more books than sainsbury's
I personally, love your new background a lot more
There's a half price book store in Indiana. I love it!
Half Price Books is AMAZING! I even go to them in cities around me... Appleton, Milwaukee, etc... I find them everywhere.
Try overdrive app. It connects you to library digital media. Audiobooks ebooks and automatically returns them when they expire.
Also! If the selection is limited some libraries ( I only tried it with one library) let me sign up for a limited library card access which I could use on my app to get their selection too! I imagine you can add several library’s to choose from this way
I friggin love your hair!
Thanks Sasha! :D
I usually use bookdepository or amazon (used secction).
All the used books that I bought for a low price, at amazon, came like new,, so it is the first place that I check when I need a book
Me and my friends use something similar to your last idea, we kinda have a shared library, each of us buys a book or and entire series and borrows to each other.
I love your new background !
I love bookoutlet! That's my go to online bookstore
When we got a Half Price Books near me I went to the Grand Opening (it was cold & early in the morning but so worth it) and am obsessed. It's not in the city I live in, but I'm starting a new job in a week that is in that city so I know I'm gonna be back to going there all the time.
Great video!! Will be heading to those sites for more books! Thank you for the access!! You're wonderful!
Breanna May I took two books out of my city library and the. I not long moved out and that was 13 years ago lol
Laila Behrendt I was 18 and had just moved out whatever money I had went on rent or food
and mind your manners about " because of you" being melodramatic isn't attractive
I love your room/bed!
I live in the next town over from Salem but I sadly never been there for Halloween because I can't drive yet and my mom won't drive me
Some Libraries like the one here also have bookstores in them that sell used and new books. The books sales go back into the library to purchase more books. It's like a vicious circle for a good cause. So if you are in or near the Columbus, GA area, check it out. (that was not a pun or a plug, just info).
Love your background 😍 thanks for these helpful tips!
omg thank yoooou!! the one with free international shipping will save my liiiife!
Pink looks good on you Sasha 😍😍😍
abebooks.com has good prices too with free shipping. I can get at least 3 books (used) for under $10 and sometimes if you are lucky you can even get a new book for very cheap!!
I recommend the store 'Book Off' in NYC! They have a TON of books for very cheap prices, sometimes as low as $1! Definitely recommend it
I just got wicked excited that you go to school in Boston because I live super close to Boston :D.
I love your set up!!!! 😍
I really love your hair and your eyes!🙆 they are so amazing😍
if you live in boston and you feel like making a little trip to the coast, there is a thrift store in gloucester mass called second glance that sells all books for 25 cents! and they have some really good books!
Your background is so pretty!
Another fabulous place to get cheap books are the Friends of the Library Bookstores. Almost every library I've ever seen has a bookstore attached which is stocked by donation and discontinued library selections. Ours has a 50% off day once a month...I spend so much money on that day! Check it out.
I love the color in this video!
Thanks so much Sasha! I'll definetlely be looking into some of these for my future purchases:) Also, you looked so pretty in this video, just thought i'd let you know( prettier than usual that is)
The lighting in this video is great! What lights do you use? Suggestion - Make a BookTube video tour of the Boston library.
IM FINALLY HERE EARLY!
I love you for always sharing everything good!
Your room is so pretty!!!!
