I like both Sansi and Barrina for quality and affordability. They offer different styles for various uses. Barrina are good for strip lights on shelves, and their standing vertical light is great. Also be careful because the Sansi bulbs get extremely hot. Barrina just get slightly warm.

I have two of the 36w Sansi bulbs and one set of the Sansi 4 arm bendy light (10w each). Best investments I’ve ever made.
I have one of those 36w bulbs hanging from an IKEA lamp cord/socket inside my porch with no shade for the largest pool of light and my plants are THRIVING under it. Same with my 4 arm setup.
They do get HOT so be careful you don’t melt your lampshade or put them too lose to your plants. The 4 arm has a huge high tension clip you can sue for shelves, and it can be tricky to not get the bulbs too close. They will burn your leaves.

Sansi lights are amazing for the price! Been using several versions over the last few years....I didn't know about the small 30 watt one...omg....as you know the big one is a heavy beast. That lamp shade is nice, but you can repurpose a tin can, spray paint with proper heat paint and have the canister look for even less money, but it does involve labor. Nice hack video!

One huge advantage of grow lights is that they imitate sunlight so good, that I wake up in winter just like it would be already sunny. My lights turn on at 5:30 AM. I'm using a lamp from Vectura - Polish company producing such lights.

I did the same thing! The only thing different was choosing a rattan shade, which really help "warm" up thw light being diffused from the side. I have 3 of theaw set up, two with sansi's 10W and a small cylindrical rattan shade from TEMU and one with the sansi 35W and a large rattan shade from IKEA. My plants LOVE it!

Yes, Sansi lighting even for me here in NZ, is the bulb that promises & provides.
I've taken to the small 5W & 10W clip ons as well only not available at nz stockists as yet but Amazon helps even to be cheaper to ship than from site however not in our plug type as yet but a universal plug helps. Love Sansi.

I like the Sansi lights, but they give off a lot of heat. So I'd be concerned about enclosing them in such a head.
Agree there's a gap in the market for aesthetic grow lights. Sansi need to offer more light formats with different colours.

Great idea! I think that there's an unfulfilled niche for good-looking grow lights because every time somebody asks me about good grow lights their response is mostly: ''Yeah, but it doesn't look good, I wouldn't want that in my living room.'', so they usually opt for some variant of those no-name blurple grow lights on a tripod with a built-in timer that are nowhere near powerful enough.
There are hardly any products in the gap between those crappy grow lights and the ones that were designed for growing weed and the options I've seen are too expensive for their output, so thanks for sharing your solution, I might just try this out!

Definitely need a stud or two to mount a TV. This light setup, on the other hand, isn't too heavy. So I'd just mount it wherever you want. If you're concerned about it falling down you can use anchors or toggles. I've had a 20lb pothos setup hanging for a couple years from a hook in the ceiling without being connected to a stud. Awesome light though, thanks PNG!

Always amazing to hear how the houses in the states are basically made of paper mache XD
And man soltech is overpriced is an understatement. I upgraded from those ugly amazon gooseneck lamps to the Barrina hanging system that comes with the 5 meter cable and hanging bits pretty similar to this for like 30£, it is a huge improvement both in power and aesthetics but its only a 25w light so a little more money for less light :/ .. luckily its also an e26 connection so i could upgrade to one of these when it dies 😅

Glad to see you use Photone as well. Have you compared it to a proper light meter by any chance?? I would imagine it can be more precise on some phones than others depending on hardware. But it's a good indicator for global improvements, which are at least measurable to some extend :)

    • @prettyingreen
      @prettyingreen  3 місяці тому +1

I haven't properly compared it to an expensive meter, but I just need it to compare vs other grow lights I have in the same space. So it does what I need it for, but I wouldn't exactly trust the uMol/sec readings it's giving out

Hopefully if somebody has something like that to recommend they can put it in the comments
