I got this album the day it came out. He spent $170,000 of his own money to make the album he wanted. Ive been following him since VAI's sex and religion album. A true masterpiece!
I keep hearing this 'classically trained' nonsense. People just make stuff up. Any hardcore Dev fans knows he 'developed' his voice partially by screaming while working in a sound-proofed meat locker.
He isn't classically trained per say, but I believe he was part of a choir growing up and this obviously influenced the way he composes and thinks. But like a lot of the best artists he isn't classically trained and I believe can't translates his ideas into music sheets other people could play for example
