I am still sick after all this time as an ex Liverpool Seafarer, for goodness sake its and important part of Liverpool Maritinme and should never have been towed away. Thanks to Stan and the planeteers for some great reunions held onboard I miss them.
I went round a lightship that was temporarily docked in Conwy near the smallest house, that had to have been back in the 1990s. It also didn't have propulsion and needed towing out to its station. Shame I can't remember its name. PS I searched online and found it was called Conway Harbour, it was open for a while as a museum you could go around and was very nice inside with all the wood panels.
Ive developed a real i terest in them. My great uncle never married seafarer lifelong, beautiful natured man, that weather beaten brow with lines of wrinkles on darkened skin. He really was a salty sea dog. Typical of scousers born 1900s-20 ... he seen his last 20 years away from deep sea on a lightship in north sea. I was told it was a really harsh life, not for everyone etc. He would come my grandmothers, his sister, as soon as he got home give me 50p and pull a bottle of lamb's navy rum from inside suit jacket...i really miss him
The light ship is currently located in Sharpeness Harbour which is on the south bank of the River Severn between the Severn Bridges and Gloucester. It is almost straight across the river from Lydney Harbour, where my brother is a member of the Sailing Club. It was towed there from Liverpool following some financial issues with its owners, and has been there for almost five years now. I have no idea of what condition it is in. It is a Liverpool icon, and the thought of it deteriorating there does not sit well. I hope that I can get back to the UK in the not too distant future, and will make a point of seeing it the. Here is a link to the Echo relating to it. www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/mersey-bar-lightship-now-11922449
Highly doubt that mate...it's been in situ for a long time now and clearly on display, im a scouser and it's been a fixture good few years now and is still there. He's actually talking about refurbishment for display, using old anchor etc.
What an amazing ship and video 👍👏👏
Thank you
Wonderful!

Thanks for that, S
Thanks for that, Stan.
What did you do for diesel and fresh water?
They would have been taken out with the food supplies in another ship.
Will this ship eventually go to the breakers yard just like HMS Plymouth and HMS/m Onyx
