      From what I've read, plenty have installed 5.3's in the gen 2's, so you can probably buy a premade wiring harness, mounts, adapters and most anything you need. That was what I was hoping for when I started researching a 5.3 swap into my gen 4, but no luck so far. It's looking like I'm probably going to have to buy a reman or used 4.0. A used 170k motor run anywhere from 3500 to 4500 bucks and that's ridiculous.

    I bypassed my abs box on 3.4 swap. I believe it just ran power steering from pump to the steering box. And then just reconfigured the abs lines with like a t or elbow fitting. Brakes still work I really don't notice a difference. Looks like you got it figured out. But that box can be co.pletely bypassed. But your Abs light will be on until you pull the bulb.

      Thanks for the information. That's the one part that would have been tough if the brakes don't work properly

    Love it! Glad youtube showed me your channel. I plan on doing a chevy v8 of some sort and this looks like it’s right up my alley!

      @@barnyardmechanic3622 thanks! I think I’m going try and find a good donor 5.3 or 5.7 from pull and pay and rebuild it over the winter. I’m not too far along in your series, how’s the trans fitting for you?

      @@barnyardmechanic3622 sweet man. That’s what I was worried about. Not too much extra space in the trans tunnel, I was looking into those adapters but I’m not a fan.

      @@3.0colorado21 I don't mind the adapters but if you are able to use all of the chevy stuff I think it mate's up better. I know the shifting of the transfercase will be difficult from what I have tried to figure out but I will come up with the right combination eventually.

    That slack in chain is normal. The early year Ls don't have any type of tensioner or "guide". I thought mine had alot of slack at first on my 92xxx mile ls1 when I tore down for cam and heads.

      Once I put the new chain on I saw how much slack there was I figured it was normal.

    What mounts, headers, pan, and intake are you going with? Sticking with truck accessories?

    • @barnyardmechanic3622
      @barnyardmechanic3622  2 роки тому +1

      The motor mounts are generic ones for an LS swap I can modify if needed. The headers from conversion specialists. We are going to try and stick with the stock oil pan and intake. The stock intake is 1" lower than aftermarket and every inch counts.

    I have a 2006 4.0 SR5 4x4. I'm wanting to install an LS Chevy, but keep the front IFS. Is it possible, and if so, could you email a list of websites, parts, wiring harnessess, info, etc. that can help make things easier for me. Any help or info you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! J. Tyler

    • @barnyardmechanic3622
      @barnyardmechanic3622  Рік тому +1

      You may be able to keep the IFS with a different oul pan and a body lift. I don't have much experience with that year and if the suspension has any more clearance. Most of my builds are custom and never alike.

    Is this 4runner going to have 4wd with the
    LS motor?
