Thank you for liking my content, but I would not dare to be one of the best lol! As much as some will think I'm one of the best, other will think I'm one of the worst lol. That's why there are so many popular reviewers, with different styles, slants, and perspectives.
What a pleasant surprise! I really like the myth of Medusa, so I like Pegasus too. The figurine is very impressive, stunning in its realism and detail. Thank you for sharing it, a real feast for the eyes!
You can see the face of the Kraken in the base, after he was turned to stone and fell to pieces. Not really part of the movie, but it does make for a very cool depiction of Pegasus, rearing up in victory atop the defeated Kraken!
For the horse's head shape: You are correct, Lipizzaner or just Lipizzan horses typically have a straight or a slightly convex (roman) nose bridge. The concave nose bridge is more associated with Arabians (also called Arabs), which, on this model is a nice, healthy concave shape, not too extreme. (The concave nose bridge is the horse equivalent to dogs and cats with squished in faces. Horses with more extreme, caved in nose bridges tend to develop breathing and dental issues, especially later in life.) The mouth on the other hand is weird. They clearly modelled the mouth with how it looks on a horse with a bridal and bit on. The bit pushes the corners of the mouth back (which you can see on the model with the little wrinkles on the corners of the mouth as well as the small crease on the bottom where the bit would sit) which can make the mouth look like it goes further back than it actually does when relaxed. So when the bit is removed from that context, it gives the model a mouth shape that looks very off and unnatural as the mouth wouldn't naturally go back that far at that gape. The teeth look good too! The bottom incisors stop at a good point and don't go too far back into the mouth. What would've been a really cool detail though would've been the inclusion of the lower canines, as male horses have much larger canines than females. In fact, most mares are missing canines all together, though if they do have them, they are generally much smaller than those found on stallions. Though I can understand if the canines would be too hard to paint :P The shape of the nostrils is also interesting. The nostrils being so flared and the eyes so wide while the ears are forward suggests that Pegasus is either alert or excited about something (or maybe he just has zoomies :P) The bump you mention above and behind the eye is indeed a nice detail. That's the horse's temple and the fact that it's concaved is a nice touch, as the top of the jaw bone actually sits in that area at rest, so when the horse opens it's mouth the temple noticeably sinks down with that part of the jaw. Your explanation of the anatomy of the forelimbs is spot on. My only nitpick really about that area is that the knee (wrist) is much too concaved in that area and should be more rounded. The bottom of the hooves from what I can see also look good. They actually modelled the frog well (fleshy, triangular pad on the bottom of the hoof) and they even included the heel bulbs (the rounded bumps at the back of the hoof) which is a nice touch. (Also, poor Pegasus seems to have been gelded :P) The hind legs seem to be pretty much perfect from what I can tell. I don't really have any nitpicks there. For the wings, not much to comment on since they are clearly fantasy wings :P Though Pegasus seems to be missing any flight muscles in his torso and his wings seem too small so I suppose he primarily uses magic to fly :P
Excellent! I knew I can always count on you for really deep insightful comments on mammals! And I just made the link: with a username like yours, you would know horses! Thank you, I learnt a lot from your comment! Good call on the mouth. When I was learning to draw horses, I always drew this same mouth shape, but because it was always in context of some warrior riding it with the bridle on! I wonder if this might have been the intention from the start and then someone decided not to go ahead. I never learnt about dentition as much, as when I tried to learn how to ride years ago, I took great pains to go nowhere near the horses mouth 😁 I always wondered at the coolness of people who can put an apple to the horse’ mouth, something I would never dare to do. I must imagine that with your extensive knowledge of anatomy, it would be a painful experience for any CGI artist to have you vetting his work 😂 As for the wings, I have looked this up since I have a love for dragons, and wondered about how big they would have to be. The answer is ridiculously big, and even worse, the pectoral muscle size would have be ridiculously ginormous and make the animal nowhere as beautiful. So yes, magic is involved!
Very good review of this figure!! A question, do you plan to do a review of the new Recur Triceratops? It looks really cool and there are still reviews missing for the figure
@fukitsuu I did not get the Recur Triceratops. The form looks quite good actually, but those colours are too stark and simple for my liking. It's interesting you mention Recur though, and in this video. One thing I _am_ getting from Recur are some of their mythology models. I may show those off in the future.
@@DinosDragons Thanks for the reply, I'm actually asking because I've only found one review of the new Recur Triceratops, and the truth is it wasn't a review talking about the scientifically correct figure, just a review, and I'm very interested in buying it because I feel like it's a cheap figure for that ceratopsid. About the Recur figures you'll bring, I'm looking forward to your reviews, I'm a fan of this channel!
the sculpt and proportions and everything look good, but that fur texture really puts me off. It looks like a much smaller sculpture that was blown up, where the tool marks to indicate fur looked fine when it was small but at this scale it looks like huge distracting tool marks. Maybe it's just me
Why review pegasus, on a channel that is dedicated to dinosaurs and dragons? Here, either the name of the channel must be changed or inappropriate content must be prevented.
You must be new to the channel and missed out a few times when I stated that I would show other statues besides dinosaurs and dragons, as random videos to share my other interests as well. Hence, I have reviewed my mantids, wolves, and will even be introducing other animals from time to time. These are listed under “Miscellaneous”. If is an easy matter simply not click on something you don’t want to see. Kindly do not tell me what to do with my channel.
@@DinosDragons Of course, I'm a beginner, I've been watching for 3 years.)) I'm just not interested in all the videos. I sincerely do not understand why to drag everything to the channel? Then it should be called all animals, not just dinosaurs and dragons. I'm not telling you in any way, they just state the fact that in this case the name of the channel does not reflect its essence. And you do as you know. In addition, you are making a channel for all people, not just for yourself, so we can say that it is not only yours, because without subscribers it would not be so popular.Don't you take criticism well? Do you think it is necessary to write only praise? But, in this case, you will not know where to improve and you will not make progress.
@@player21099 I have no issues with putting up errors, criticisms, mistakes and so on in my description box and even call attention to faults in my videos so that I don't mislead my viewers. If you look through my comments, especially the theropod videos, you will see plenty of criticism that I have thanked or apologized to viewers for. And except for posts that attack other viewers, have vulgarity or tried to attack any particular group, I leave all criticisms and disagreements in the comments. I have issues with the way you phrased your comment, telling me I should change my channel name or remove content. I do not see how having one or two videos which I have categorized under "Miscellaneous" once in a blue moon is changing the essence of the channel. If these videos became a huge percentage of the channel, then yes, the essence of the channel has changed. In fact, I recently agreed with and apologized to another viewer who criticized me for featuring too many many dinosaurs and so few dragons if my channel is dinosdragons. That was an apt criticism which I agreed with, and I pledged t my viewers to have more dragons. But I disagreed with another viewer who complained about featuring my featuring dragons because he wanted to see only dinosaurs, because my channel name already tells people it should have both. You do not expect me to accept only praise, which is fair. But neither should you expect me to accept every comment, even those that I do not feel is fair.
Actually wait a minute. Are you using a translator to English? I just realised perhaps that is why some expressions may not be relayed correctly and there may be misundersanding in the meaning. In case it helps, I can communicate in Chinese or Spanish as well.
@@DinosDragons I did not say that something needs to be deleted, but I said that now the theme does not match the name. After all, it's true. Only dinosaurs and dragons are no longer on the channel. And that's not fair... This is not a haight, but constructive criticism, so it's stupid to take offense and make it look like I'm pointing you out. When I used to leave only positive comments, you liked it, but now you are unhappy and consider it unfair, although it is not so. You changed the name of the channel when you were told about the dragons, and in this case, why not? There aren't many dragons on the channel either. I'm not telling you what to do, but they're stating a fact. Not all people in life will only say what you like, so here on the Internet. I am saddened by your reaction.
Honestly, you're one of the best figure reviewers on YT, keep up the good work!

Harryhausen was a legend! Loved all the classic movies with his work. This is a beautiful sculpt and the paint job is amazing.
Delighted to meet someone who knows of his work! There is still something irreplaceable about his movies that we have lost today.

Thank you for your comment! This is indeed a beautiful statue, and it's delightful to see some of my viewers know about Greek mythology as well!
Clash of the Titans is also one of my favorite movies! Really cool model, too!
Ah, I'm glad to see someone else has watched that very old movie!
