I have watched 100’s of tutorials videos on painting and selling art. This is my number one favorite video! It was detailed with all the things to consider. THANK YOU.

Something that a lot of artists forget to think about is "Why" do you sell your art. You can spend your entire life making money for gallerists, clients and customers, and forget why you became an artist to begin with. When you are certain about your "Why" you might find you are not in alignment with what you were chasing before. In the end I find that most people that buy art are buying your story, as you as a creator. The art is a reminder of that. The story is what they share anytime someone sees the art in the wild. Its all about storytelling.Thank you for sharing your advice. These are all very helpful. Thank you, Nikita.

Just curious: how do you divide your time between creating art and selling/ promoting your work? Is it like half of your day is for producing and the other half for promoting?

On average, 65 to 70 percent of my time is spent painting. Marketing and admin takes up about 20%. The remainder is spent on research/picking up and assembling art supplies/reference/miscellaneous.

My AI art sales have skyrocketed from promoting on Twitter , so that's a possible avenue as well.

Unfortunately I've learned that paintings are not looked at by how good they are but instead who painted them. In sports it's all about how good you are not who you are.
I've seen some of your work that is mind blowing in detail and artistry and I've seen paintings that look like an infant smeared paint on a canvas sell for 10's of thousands because of the name.
I've decided I don't need the high brow society and will paint just for the joy of painting.
You relayed good info though for anyone that wants to fight the system.

Hey Trace, I don't disagree, we've all had moments where we rolled our eyes about the price a piece sold for and thought, really?! I'm encouraged by artists like Mark Maggiori, who is probably one of the most talented painters alive and also works his butt off. You can tell painting is his joy, too.
