- In this video, I make a personal guarantee that I'll not stop hunting until I find an arrowhead.

How old do you think that tooth is?? Or what it was attached to at some point. I ask because I wouldn't have the slightest idea.... Wholly Mammoth? Mastodon? -or is that the same thing? -be kind, I am just getting into this.
Not sure on the tooth's age or what animal exactly that it belonged to. From what I understand the darker the patina on the tooth, the older. This one didn't have much of a patina. Maybe a hundred or two hundred years old? It would have probably come from a horse, cow, or bison but I don't know how to distinguish. Most of this is still a learning process for me too, lol! The mastodon and woolly mammoth teeth are easier to distinguish. They are MUCH larger (up to football size) and are very distinct from one another. Mastodon have large conical tops and mammoth tend to be flat and ridged. From what I understand Mammoth are typically more northern and Mastodon are more southern typically. Mammoth are larger than Mastodon. Hope some of that was useful to you, Patrick!

that flake is a classic debitage flake made during the lithic reduction process. flakes like this and a little bigger are ideal for making true arrowheads and scrapers , very good indicator that you are in the right place !

Always great to find native american tools. Those were the Swiss army knife back then. We find backpack full of those when we go out, just can't not grab them. Good hunting.

Nice finds! That tooth is super cool. Do you collect many bones or mostly teeth? I also have to mention that I love when you do funny little commentary during your videos. Always makes me chuckle lol. 😂
I don't keep many of the bones. There's a lot of them to be found out there and I'm not much of a bone guy. They're cool, but I don't have enough room to keep them. I do like the teeth though for sure. Small treasures are sometimes the best treasures. I'm really glad to hear you and a few others like my comedy. I always hope it will be amusing to some people and help improve my videos.
@@meandmyshadow6269 I wholeheartedly agree with your small treasures comment. My thing is little bits of sea (or in my case great lakes) glass. I've been told I resemble and move like Gollum when I'm looking for some. 😂 Not the most attractive character to be compared to but oh well lol. 🤷🏻♀️

@@meandmyshadow6269 The best places are a couple hours north of me near Traverse City or Petoskey! Could look for Petoskey stones too. The upper peninsula has some great rock beaches as well. Plus if you're in the UP you can kayak Pictures Rocks National Lakeshore or visit Tahquamenon Falls. So many neat things to see in the UP! It's part of the reason I chose to attend college there lol.
I use my sea glass for wire wrap art! Necklaces, earring, wind chimes, etc. If they're super tiny I just keep them in a jar.

A lot of times when people point out a possible missed arrowhead in my videos I'm usually not convinced but this time I think you may have spotted a genuine article that I missed! That looks a lot like at least something worked. Good eye! A couple other people also spotted it. I think that's a pretty good indicator as well

I don't think I'm going to do a table but I will definitely be there. Might do a table in another year or two when I have more than just a handful to show and hopefully a better knowledge base. WMO texted me on Friday. If you guys all make it down we should plan a hunt!
