Fun bf1 fact, the P08 in the game is actually marked with the Mauser ww2 production code and a 1941 production date. You can see this when you hold the gun and walk into a wall so the character holds it facing up. I did find this out on my own and have yet to hear anyone mention it as a glaring historical inaccuracy
I didn't really use the Mosin all that much in BF1. I'm a G95 kind of guy oh and yeah everyone's favorite Martini Henry. If you never got a headshot with the Martini in BF1 you missed out.
Great review, great game! The Mosin Nagant in Hunt Showdown is also very interesting to review. It’s also the best long range weapon in the game. I wish you All the best!
I may have speculation regarding the absurdly tall front sight blade. I've had my hands on many weapon models from Battlefield 1 to study 3D modeling, and what I've found was that a number of them have the front sight taller than the rear sight. My theory is that this was done deliberately to give the player less obstructive sight pictures, as some of these simple blade front sights are very low profile and the barrel might obstruct the view around the front sight in a narrow field of view. This is little to no trouble in real life as our eyes have a fixed FoV.
Old and dried cosmoline can add a "golden" look. I have a Mosin from 1897 with the same gold color on the cocking knob. But it's simply a thin layer of old cosmoline. If I wipe it away, the golden color will disappear.
I don’t think I saw it mentioned but the striker reference mark was off. If they aren’t lined up, the connector and bolt head cannot go onto the bolt body.
@@mkl13 the striker pin is rectangular and the bolt/connection bar has a rectangular hole. It fits one direction and 180° in the other direction. Not in any other orientation. The line on the striker would either be inline with the cocking knobs line, or perpendicular. It cannot be at any other direction. I have never seen a mosin with a perpendicular line or in any other direction other than lined up with the cocking knob. Open up your safe and take a look at all your bolts. They will all have the line in the same direction. I made a video showing one of them on my channel.
@@gibbles2626lj the end of the striker is rectangular. The hole in the connecting bar is rectangular. You cannot just “screw it” in an out to adjust as it only will fit into the connecting bar in 2 positions. Why would the Russians, or in this case, the Chinese make a reference mark that did not line up? It makes absolutely no sense. Slightly off would mean that your striker and cocking knob are absolutely non matching but they should be relatively close in terms of reference. Watch the video, the screw is like at a 45 degree angle away from the reference point.
Genuine question, although it is a simple and dumb one. Is it possible to do a 5 round plus 1 in the chamber in a Mosin? I know it is possible to feed it from underneath the magazine well (there's a latch that let's you open it) and I was wondering if that is possible.
@Finnish_Infantryman Thank you for the clarification, good sir! I always wondered if most, if not all, bolt action rifles with fixed magazines would have that ability.
A react on the various mosins of Tannenberg (by the devs of Izonzo) or the mosin of Red Orchestra 2 could be interresting.
Talvisota Mod for Rising Storm 2 has a few variants with quite a few Finnish versions
You better review Tannenberg, much more realistic WW1 game with 3 types on Mosin rifles in it (1891, Dragoon and 1907 carbine)
So grateful for your knowledge on the ol Mosins....thank you for sharing the knowledge

Would love for you to try playing Tannenberg or other WWI Game Series games
Big Sam, you should totally react to the Mosins in the videogame Tannenberg.

OMG!!!!! LOOKS LIKE THE COCKING KNOB IS GOLD!!!! I'm gonna get my cocking knob,,AND,,,,ectusions gold plated......will do sights and trigger later!!!!

I think it would be cool to have SOME parts gold plated

Stripper clip jumping out is correct, but was this feature intentional?
hey man! there is a game called hunt: showdown, the Mosin is really handy in that game! maybe you should try a little bit, it's a great game!

The lines are a factory setpoint for depth of the firing pin.

You can screw the firing pin in or out to set deptch my t56 is slightly off of the factory mark as well

Hey BIG SAM,,,,, Do you think the American made muzzle break will work as a well as a bayonet,,,,as for harmonics of the 91/30?????
No
you should look at enlisted it has so many mosins

No, unlike a lot of other rifles such as the Mauser the Mosin will only hold 5 maximum. The magazine won't fit more than 4 if the bolt is closed

I love battlefield 1
Love ya Big Sam!
Very cool analysis! Now I can picture I’m using my p-26, even has the unmarked receiver and everything.
Sam. I just acquired my first mosin sniper. Thanks to your videos I know I got the real thing. Thank you
That's my go to rifle in this game. Same with Call of Duty World at War.
Can't wait to see this tomorrow
Great video as always!
Gotta love the main shaft haha
