Man, i've never thought i would say this.. but the s90's design is more beautiful than the new 5 series.
It is a really good looking car and does stand out from its rivals
Volvo is only famous for its trucks, years now!!!! Very bad desing agly like tractor!

Concept creator the frond part of the car is beutifull but the rear is ugly.
Mad Max each to their own but the S90 has been highly praised on the styling front.

It really is gorgeous... all the other reviews have been of the blue silver versions, the black is also just as stunning. Good job Volvo!
Black is nice to, however this car is in magic blue, its a very dark shade and could be easily mistaken for black especially in low light.

:-). The car is beautiful. I like it a lot as well. The performance part of the car is quite relative though, I think the aim for Volvo is a "comfy ride" and second sporty - I only test drove the D4 and D5 and they were far from being performant. They accelerate slightly better than a 240 or at par with a 960 of the times ;-).
Fantastic review Shane, and much appreciated; I am now most certainly in the market for a Used 'Inscription' it's a pity Donegal is a distance from me otherwise I would give you 1st option on my business.

EDIT.. I see this has been mentioned previously, but I include the basic voice commands…..
Climate control is best controlled in this car by using the voice control. It is a single button press and seems very reliable. It can handle my Welsh accent so should be good for Irish too.
Basic voice controls are these………
• "Climate" - starts a dialogue for climate
control and shows examples of commands.
• "Set temperature to X degrees" - sets
the desired temperature.
• "Raise temperature"/"Lower
temperature" - raise/lower the temperature
setting one step.
• "Sync temperature" - synchronises the
temperature for all climate zones in the car
with the temperature set for the driver's side.
• "Turn on auto" - activates automatic climate
regulation

I felt my channel wasn’t growing and because UA-cam, especially the automotive side of it has become so huge and competitive these days, I don’t feel I can compete. Where I live is part of the reason, I have very limited access to performance and high end luxury cars compared to other people. I know my mainstream cars do well but I need to be able to offer a larger variety. I reviewed a Mustang, a 1993 Supra and a Nissan GTR, wasn’t able to drive them for insurance reasons but given the popularity of them cars I expected them to do well and they didn’t so that was really the last straw for me. These days I’m more focused on my job, well I will be be after COVID-19 settles down here in Ireland.

You're reviews were way more interesting and detailed than the main Irish reviewer guy... the one who loves the sound of his own voice... he just drives around waffling, doesn't show the details, and his reviews can't be trusted as he's getting wined and dined by the marketing teams. Yours are honest and detailed. Would be delighted to see you get back in the saddle with the local dealers and collectors.

It was fun and I got to drive lots of different and interesting cars over the years and I’ve built up good relationships with all my local dealers and made new friends. I even had a job at McGinley motors up until just over 2 years ago so a lot of good has come out of it.

Tone Ranger I did replace my Astra last January and was thinking of doing a short video on the new car I got.
In the US, discounts on these are currently $7-$8K. You can pick up a nice one for $45K.

a little reminder concerning the climate control that you may adjust using voice control while keeping your eyes on the road :)
Thats true you could but honestly I think most people would rather adjust the temperature manually because its just handier really to reach down and tweak it without playing around with voice control.
The park assist blew your mind, don’t think you even realised it had adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist almost autonomous driving which is about the best feature of the car.
Paul Harris I know about all those other safety features. In the past 2 years I spent a lot of time with the S90 and even had it home with me for 2 days. I have also experienced the autonomous braking off camera when a van pulled out of a junction and I’ve used the adaptive cruise control many times. It’s a brilliant car.

Paul Harris it’s all good. It’s a car I would deffinatly buy for myself. I’d buy a mussel blue inscription with the D5 engine.

Enjoyed this review very much. Certainly the best review for this particular vehicle on UA-cam. However I am now in a quandary as to what to replace my aging car with! I was considering either a Jaguar XF or XJ, but now I am not so sure. Guess I should test drive one of these S90's to help me make my mind up. Looking at the used market(because I certainly would never buy a new car, just not the sensible option) these S90's are good value for money and you get a lot more for your money compared to buying a Jaguar. My only small concern is the technology! Technology is great when it is working, however if often doesn't, and then you have problems. Volvo has often scored poorly in reliability ratings which has been caused by the technology in their cars not doing what it should do! I guess I should buy a used Volvo from a Volvo dealership so that I get a 12 month warranty, then I can just hand it back to them when things go wrong!
Thank you. I’ve driven the XJ and latest XF, really nice cars however the XF I feel is a little more on the bland side in terms of styling, I was always a big fan of the previous XF. Funny thing is I’ve been in your position and was trying to decide between a Jaguar XE and an S90 but got a 4 series in the end because I decided I wanted a rear wheel drive coupe. I personally would lean more towards the S90 especially a nicely spec’d Inscription, I’ve a real soft spot for the S90 as I spent a lot of time with them.

Went for a V90 Momentum Pro, found even better deal with Volvo Cardiff, including 3 years servicing for 399

You don't need manual controls for the climatcontrol it can be adjusted by your voice.
I know but some people would prefer manual controls, just easier.

Voice command set temperature to ? I'm cold. I'm Hot? Turn on rear defroster. Knob this!!! Knob that!! It's got some much stuff on it you can't review it like other cars.
Very true! Thankfully the voice command for the climate control is the only thing I left out which is not bad considering the huge host of features on this launch model haha.

Volvo has not announced any official release dates for a T8 Hybrid variant just yet, hopefully for 2017 model year we will have some news but at the moment nothing has been confirmed.

Ian McGregor belt. It is recommended the belt is replaced between 60,000 - 100,000 miles.

+Tommy Knighton Well personally whether the steering rack is electric doesn't bother me, its not like you will ever have to adjust it again once you have it and the driver seat setup for yourself.

2 things I hate about this car are, 1. It’s key fob, could have done more stylish or may be digital touch screen etc. and 2. back sit pocket which is just a net ! Being a luxuries car of this range it should at least have a leather pocket ! Not sure how they missed it
Nafiz Haq very minor complaints. I personally like the new Volvo key fob. It’s a nice simple design that’s finished in matching leather for the Inscription and r design models. As for the storage net, perhaps a proper pocket would be better but I highly doubt many customers will kick up a fuss over such a thing.
Gorgeous design, but this diesel is loud and sounds like a tractor, so go for petrol! :)
Its really not that loud, yeh on idol you will hear it a bit but when your driving on the open road is very quiet.
4 banger engine sounds like shit. And why no LED technology in the rear brake and turn signals? Nice effort but not ready to take on the German rivals.
TheLifeOnHigh the rear lights are LED and there is nothing wrong with the engine sound. Most automotive reviewers have said it's as good as a 5 series and any other rivaling German car. I had this car for 2 full days and it offers more as standard than BMW, it's more spacious and drives every bit as good and costs less. In other words drive it for yourself.
@Shane Earley - I said there is no LED technology in the braking lights and turning light assembly. Both methods use incandescent outdated bulbs instead of the LEDs which are faster, brighter and safer.
