What a great bike along with Vellos they're my favourite bike of that period. Swear that I could smell the Castrol R coming through my speakers. I must have smelly vision!!
I can think of no true enthusiast who wouldn't want this bike, what a beautiful thing.
The position of the "LAW" is that if no noise restrictions were in place when the vehicle was manufactured, then the vehicle does not have to apply to any subsequent restrictions. In the same way as it doesn't need tax or MOT!
Interesting.
@FTF
I had a similar situation with my old BSA Gold Star and a couple of others that people in the village used to moan at me about. I had the Police turn up wanting me to take the bikes to be tested at the Ministry establishment in Suffolk. I pointed out to them that my bikes were classic with no need for any tests or tax and showed him the relevant law and case law on the subject. He tried to insist and wanted to see and hear the bikes, to which I told him no. I later reported the situation to Deputy Cheif Constable, who was himself a classic bike owner who said he would be speaking to the officer concerned in no uncertain terms to put him straight. I saw the officer again when I was on one of my bikes and gave it a good rev as I went past.
I forever love vintage bikes. This is such a masterpiece of a bike and man I hope the new owner will really do it justice. I myself own a 1967 Jawa and an 1980s Yezdi. Would love to see one of those on this channel. You guys are absolutely great people with a lot of passion for bikes from the past!
You never mentioned the most wonderful thing about Castrol R, the smell. It was the most beautiful smell in the world, I remember back in 60s the lads would put castrol r in just for the fantastic aroma, wonderful
A fabulous piece of history, preserved for more decades hopefully, this is a much appreciated presentation, priceless.
That is an absolutely stunning bike. What a masterpiece.
I had one on the road in the 60s had a piece of straight pipe for an exhaust with a hollowed out silencer over it LOL. used to have to try and run it on tickover past any old bill. Going round Oxford I stalled it behind a car doing about 30 and the primary chain broke and chain flew of into a field. This was the end of it took the lump out, went to Vale Onslow in Birmingham and swapped it for a Triumph engine and plates. When your 17 its just an old bike not a classic. Plus it had no way of charging, you had to keep charging a battery to use it at night. It had in International gearbox on so you could kick it over to start it (if you were lucky) mostly I used to try and park it at the top of a hill.
Great story! Yeah, I wish I still had the motorcycles that were "just old bikes" back in the day that slipped through my hands but I'm rebuilding the collection.
@@robertscheinost179 The one that got away was a square four cost me a tenner with a spare bike , had been lying against a shed for two years started up ok took it home only took the spare engine (in bits) with me. It dropped a rod after two weeks took it home thrown in the shed, joined the army, after two years gave it all to somebody (for free) that was building one in 1969 properly worth 10,000 if I still had it.
@@TheGathumpus You would cry if I made a list of the Indians and Harley's that slipped out of my hands all 40's and earlier. Not to mention the Brit bikes.I'm hoarding again!
@@TheGathumpus And paying good money for what was once hardly any money at all!
Beautiful, wish I had the money but I do love riding my bikes❤️
I have just looked at your bench and realised how mucky mine is so off to have a clean up. Very interesting video, that bike are absolutely breath taking.
Lovely chronicle about a stunning motor-cycle. Thank you for your efforts.
A true bike this one was my dad's favourite bike ever and I can see why!
Sorry was just informed it was a commando not this one 😬
When a single is all you need. And when it's not covered in plastic bits and pieces. And it doesn't look like a transformer.
Sounds wonderful, I wish we had smell a vision.
Gorgeous condition. Pre-Featherbed frame. This is a very nice video.
Back in the late 40’s Cowies Sunderland bike dealers had one of these in their showroom for weeks, I used to bike across regularly to drool over it, got to be the most perfect example. Some smellies Co., should market a Castrol R cologne…..
Some how i missed this video when it was put up.
Hi Back in the late 50's early 60's we used to put a slash of Castrol R in the petrol tank , Ah the smell Wonderfuel.
What a beautiful piece of history
That smell of the Castrol R is coming through the screen! lovely example, when did Norton introduce tele forks? I thought these earlier versions had Bramptons
How you could resist taking that out for a thash I'll never know 😁
"Starts really easy" - if you have a roller to hand! The fun will start when you stall it at the lights.
That sounds proper nice 👍❤️🥰😍😃
Sweet Jesus what a diamond.
Amazing 👏
Nice one!. Love that sound!..... Nuff said!.
Wow just wow!
It truly was a site to behold
Of course - I first read the title as 30M...as in 30 Million $$ = yikes !
Stunning m/c...
HaHa same. I thought wtf!
I love the smell of bean oil in the morning.
Have a chance to buy an ajs 20. 59.. it runs and is all there I'm wondering if this is a good bike ..it's in pretty clean shape
Beautiful machine.
I like the shows but did you not think a surprise reveal is somewhat spoiled by putting the bike's I.D. in the video title. ;0) Yeah ... I am a 1948 model but not in such good condition.
Yeah, ha, that's how it was at the start of the day when we started filming so we rolled with it.
carb is not an amal tt nor is it like an amal gp,it is an amal rn (remote needle).tt has throttle needle in middle of slide,gp has needle at the side of the slide. remote needle has the needle outside the slide chamber and was the forerunner of the gp
Superb
Yes I am interested in owning that bike just a shame my wallet is empty
People still race vellos and goldies so why not the norton,
I used to know a guy wit a bentley blower he said it was made for racing so race I must.
Gobsmacking!!!!
La manx también es llamada ES2 EN 1060 o no es lo mismo ?
Lovely old bike, though the new owner woukd need to be brave to take it on the road or take some mates with them as it doesn't look like it has a kickstart.
People used to push start these. I can just remember when the UK CRMC still had massed push starts at the beginning of their races.
@@webtoedman But would you want to try and bump start it in busy traffic uphill on a sunny day after stalling it at the lights......after forgetting to retard the ignition
@@Bazza47 Indeed not, although fear is a powerful motivator...
Vi una manx de 1060 que dice ES2 ES NO UNA MANX ?
Does anyone know what bhp this beautiful machine is capable of Producing?
Thank you for the video.
Later models made about 45bhp, so I expect this was in the mid 30s.
@@gerry343 thanks for the info 👍🏼
wheres the kickstarter
As UA-camr motorcyclist I am outraged that it lacks cruise control and a quick shifter 😜
Great racing machine
So lumpy, peakey, and temperamental…
Your videos are always interesting, but the banners you put up - blocking parts of the screen are annoying.
Can you not put them at the bottom - out of the way?
We keep the banners up the screen for people who like to use subtitles. If we put them down below it is hard to read for those to read subtitles with the banners underneath them.
@@TheClassicMotorcycleChannel Why not put them across the top then - out of the way of the main video?
Not very loud if the old bill stops you jusy tell them its a harly and they will tell you to take it easy ha ha
Ява 891 очень похожа ,,,
co-ag-ewe-late.
Belter. Hope it goes to someone that wants to ride it. What a bke!
