    In this tutorial, we will be going over how to make a unique macrame fringe bag using 3 basic macrame knots: Lark's Head, Square knot, and Double Half Hitch. We will also be using the Rya weave knot to attach the fringe to the bag as well. If you have scrap cords laying around, you can use them for the fringe portion of the bag!
    What's unique about this bag is how we closed off the bag without fringe at the bottom. Watch the video all the way through to see how I usually close off the bottom of my fringe-less bags! This is a very useful knotting technique :)
    The details of the materials and cord lengths required are as follows:
    Materials:
    1) 2 x 11 cm (4.3") metal bag handles (bochiknot.com/product/gold-ba...)
    2) 4mm Cotton Cord (bochiknot.com/product/foundat...)
    Suggested Cord lengths:
    1) 48 x 170 cm (67")
    2) 2 x 45 cm (18")
    3) And a bunch of smaller scraps at 12 - 15 cm long
    The approximate dimensions of the macrame bag are, width of 9.5" and length of 7.5" (macrame part only).
    This is a fun macrame project to make and is a stylish bag for spring/summer!

    Pretty bag and excellent tutorial, thank you!
    I am always amazed watching you work. Of all the macrame artists I watch, you are the only to often work with no pins, rack or tape, and how you handle it so wonderfully.

    Timestamps
    03:14 - Attach 8 x 170cm cords onto one ring with Reverse Lark's Head knots.
    04:06 - Make a row of Square knots. Then make a row of Alternating Square knots underneath.
    05:57 - Fold 2 x 170 cm cords in half and matching the loop ends together, make a Square knot. Then attach it onto the left-side of the bag with an Alternating Square knot.
    07:35 - Repeat the same on the right-side.
    08:50 - Attach 3 more individual Square knots on the left and right sides.
    09:20 - Make a v-shaped Square knot pattern until you reach 1 Square knot at the bottom.
    11:30 - Take the second ring and repeat all of the previous steps
    11:50 - Attach both sides together by making one alternating Square knot on both sides.
    13:20 - For the next row of alternating Square knots all around, leave 1cm of space in between the previous row of Square knots.
    18:47 - Start the new row of Square knots from the sides of the bag, and then make a row of diagonal Square knots to the front/back sides.
    20:56 - Repeat the pattern 2 more times all around.
    21:13 - Fill out the remaining sides of the pattern with Square knot rows.
    23:18 - Flip the bag inside out and using the side-middle 8 cords on both sides as anchor cords, make a row of large Square knots at the bottom using 2 cords as 1 working cord group at a time.
    30:16 - Use a 45 cm cord as an anchor cord for a row of DHH knots on one side. Then repeat the same on the other side.
    32:02 - Take the anchor cords on both sides and make a DHH knot.
    32:57 - Cut off all excess cords at the bottom.
    33:35 - From the scrap cords, use 2 x 12-15cm cords at a time to make Rya knots onto the 1cm space on all sides of the bag pattern.
    36:05 - Trim the fringe.

    Could a larger version with larger rings be made? Or would it not look as cute?

    • @Bochiknot
      @Bochiknot  3 роки тому +1

      You could definitely make a larger version using the same pattern!! I think it would look very cute :)

    I checked your site for ordering cord but I live in England so shipping would be a problem. Could you recommend a similar cord that I can purchase in England? Cord size varies so much by brand. Thanks!

    • @Bochiknot
      @Bochiknot  3 роки тому

      Yes, shipping is terrible!! Sorry, I'm not familiar with cord in England, but cord from your local arts & craft store should be good enough.

    I’ve a problem here. I feel that 170 cm length is not enough. I ended up with some really short ends and makes sealing the bottom nearly impossible. Did I do something wrong? Or maybe I should increase to say 190 cm?

    • @Bochiknot
      @Bochiknot  2 роки тому

      It really depends on the actual thickness of your cord vs the cord I used. If you don't feel it is enough, definitely increase it!
