I'm super interested in doing something like this at some point since rent is so crazy these days, and I've been becoming a bit of a minimalist, but all the fancy wiring for the solar power and stuff confuses the crap out of me and is what puts me off from starting anything
you should go to a local university with an electrical engineering department and talk to some engineering students, I'm sure some would be willing to help you out
I feel the same DAX. im sure a week of delving into it and truly researching would help, but thats assuming you know you're going to live your life in your car ahead of time. IT sure does seem difficult, even fitting a car to live in it. Yet so many people live in their cars with no fix ups, no custom mod things. I don't know how you get this all in a sports car and don't cause problems with the car's functionality , or safety. it's insane but i want to do it because im also sure paying rent is hard, and having a truly mobile home would be ... beneficial i think $400 a month in a small illinois town, counting on 'roommates' to pay 400 & 400 each for 1200/month. I switch living places every 4-12 months solely because the people i live with who also pay rent, end up losing their job can't pay rent for some reason, and I'd rather leave/find a new place to pay into than pay my & their share of rent for who knows how long bleeding and killing me. So even housing where it should be a reasonable cost for me, is very unstable.
As far as electrical, you can play it the easy but expensive way and get a portable power station that has a large capacity. The small portable battery i showed in this video was a 512 kw/42 amp hour battery, compared to the new orange battery i put it that, has 200 amp hour capacity (and worth ~$500). If you look for 200 amp hour/2400 kw portable power station, it'll cost like $2k. building a DIY solar system is cheaper for the amount of power you get. Thanks for dropping a comment!

For me, it was always going out of town for work that started my interest in vanlife. The knowledge and having all the gadgets (power, stove, running water, off grid washing machine and a 12v fridge) needed to be just as comfortable as my home is priceless. Now, it's my fortress of solitude and I have no problem if I had to stay in my van anytime.

FYI: I don't think it is stealth clamping when the solar panels are a dead give away. I've seen 2 vehicles like this so far this summer. They are really easy to spot.
2 vechicles of people living either an interesting life, or a hard& interesting life. Despite the positivity of this channel, I don't think people choose to live in their car like this. They realize the state of the economy, and this is cheaper to save and live. I've yet to see a 'van life' 'living in my car' where it is a male and female, or a couple happily living. Always single people getting by and saving. I'm prob wrong but if so link me name the channel of a couple living on the road in a car/van. Not a full blown RV where there is happy camping living moving life, a vehicle fitted for living, always single people. RARELY tho ive seen it, females. 90% guys. I think we (guys) feel less vulnerable in a car than girls do, and i fully understand. I'm more like them. idk how this is safe or fine always worrying. always pessimistic i suppose
When you're in the car cooking I'm surprised no homeless person ever came up and asked you for some food! I would have to have at least a van, I'm so claustrophobic! I'd have to have a decent bed, and if you could slide under the bed a compost toilet! 🙂

I live in a Honda Odyssey. It's reliable and good on gas. I've used it as a cargo van to transport my Grandson to college. I did a no-build, build.😂 I'm a retired nurse. I hope you enjoy your journey journey.

They stopped making them in 2011 - also, they are the #1 car for Catalectic Converter thefts because the unit is really easy to get to. But they do make GREAT camper conversions if you find a good one!

I have a 2016 Toyota Sienna. I love it. I have so much room. I am tall and my bed goes front to back. I left the smallest 3rd row seat up and have 12" across the back, for most of my storage and under the bed storage. Love it.
I tried cooking, but I ended up buying. I have been living in my car. NO RENT = MORE MONEY! On my days off from work, I get 2 nights hotel, though. The breakfast included is a plus. If not, I get a hotel that has a kitchen. I have been in this journey for 3 months now. I'm saving a lot.

You can use cheese and croutons to mix with meat for meatballs also - I admire you tenacity with so little space. I’m all for small spaces but that’s way too compact for me 😊 safe travels !
How do you take care of your mail? I admire the fact that in a small car you have a sink for sanitation and have proved you can stay clean and eat healthy and take care of yourself without all the externals. It is very brilliant of you to have this lifestyle before marriage and children and you are stuck in a house situation out of necessity. Rent or mortgage takes up so much of our income. I'm retired and would love to have an equipped mini van to travel in part time. I have some medical issues so I do need a sticks and bricks situation. I ask because it's always easy to tell when you come across a used vehicle for sale easy to tell they were a smoker due to the fabrics holding the odors. Hi Arslan, I thought of something for you. Next to a new minivan, you could also build a treehouse with everything in it and allot of space. Ofcourse keep security hi always and only build a treehouse on big strong tree's. Last: know that you may build their or on the tree. So that Treehouse is only as a sort of place where you really come and call home. Its just an idea, i would do it, having 2 homes. 1 for on the road & 1 as a place to call home 👍🏽😇

FYI: I don't think it is stealth clamping when the solar panels are a dead give away. I've seen 2 vehicles like this so far this summer. They are really easy to spot.

Despite the positivity of this channel, I don't think people choose to live in their car like this. They realize the state of the economy, and this is cheaper to save and live.
I've yet to see a 'van life' 'living in my car' where it is a male and female, or a couple happily living. Always single people getting by and saving.
I'm prob wrong but if so link me name the channel of a couple living on the road in a car/van. Not a full blown RV where there is happy camping living moving life, a vehicle fitted for living, always single people. RARELY tho ive seen it, females. 90% guys.
I think we (guys) feel less vulnerable in a car than girls do, and i fully understand. I'm more like them. idk how this is safe or fine always worrying. always pessimistic i suppose

I live in a Honda Odyssey. It's reliable and good on gas. I've used it as a cargo van to transport my Grandson to college. I did a no-build, build.😂 I'm a retired nurse. I hope you enjoy your journey journey.
Honda elements are awesome cars to live in if you can find one! Also, I’m interested to see a video of your daily chores in that vehicle. Like emptying your water tank, finding laundry and bathroom situations, etc! Love your channel
They stopped making them in 2011 - also, they are the #1 car for Catalectic Converter thefts because the unit is really easy to get to. But they do make GREAT camper conversions if you find a good one!

I have a 2016 Toyota Sienna. I love it. I have so much room. I am tall and my bed goes front to back. I left the smallest 3rd row seat up and have 12" across the back, for most of my storage and under the bed storage. Love it.

I tried cooking, but I ended up buying. I have been living in my car. NO RENT = MORE MONEY! On my days off from work, I get 2 nights hotel, though. The breakfast included is a plus. If not, I get a hotel that has a kitchen. I have been in this journey for 3 months now. I'm saving a lot.

How do you take care of your mail? I admire the fact that in a small car you have a sink for sanitation and have proved you can stay clean and eat healthy and take care of yourself without all the externals. It is very brilliant of you to have this lifestyle before marriage and children and you are stuck in a house situation out of necessity. Rent or mortgage takes up so much of our income. I'm retired and would love to have an equipped mini van to travel in part time. I have some medical issues so I do need a sticks and bricks situation. I know you've done this is several different vehicles now and was wondering if you have noticed and any lingering or unwanted smells in your headliner/upholstery? I ask because it's always easy to tell when you come across a used vehicle for sale easy to tell they were a smoker due to the fabrics holding the odors. Hi Arslan, I thought of something for you. Next to a new minivan, you could also build a treehouse with everything in it and allot of space. Ofcourse keep security hi always and only build a treehouse on big strong tree's. Last: know that you may build their or on the tree. So that Treehouse is only as a sort of place where you really come and call home. Its just an idea, i would do it, having 2 homes.
