She knew to follow Ross and Ben to the hallway, but she didn't know there was going to be a dummy of Ross thrown down the stairs, so that's Jennifer Aniston's real panic you're seeing. The producers wanted to get as believable of a reaction as possible.

Agree. I think he replaced Chandler as the funny one as Chandler had character development with the help of Monica. From season 3, Ross started to change and properly from after his second divorce.

Yes!!! Ross is fine as a character IMO. People like to compare him to Ted Mosby but the difference is, by the 5th season, the show recognized where the strengths of Ross are and played into that. They didn't double down on every thing people hated about him like HIMYM did with Ted.

Most of Ross's issues stemmed from Carol. Your longtime spouse having an affair, leaving for another & then taking everything in the apt (add on that she tried to take his name off of the birth certificate.) will mess one up long term. I thought it was pretty realistic for him to have deep insecurities/issues in general. They didn't go too deep into addressing it because it's a sitcom, not a drama. It was also the 90s, hence all of the "your wife is a lesbian" & divorce teasing.

How does that even work? Like what was in the version of the script she got? She just walks out and that’s the end of the scene? She was staring right at the dummy too so clearly she knew it wasn’t David and didn’t scream because she thought it was him, she just got startled by this massive dummy flying at her. Then there’s a cut to what is noticeably a different take where she spins in the circle then goes to check on him.
I’m perfectly fine believing she didn’t know the dummy was coming and that startled her but the rest is just acting.

Ross was the heart of the show's comedy for its second half. For me, the choices the writers made for Rachel made her more unlikable, Phoebe just became insufferable, Chandler lost a bit of his spark after getting married, Joey was just always my least favourite character in terms of comedic value (absolute childish humour, I have no idea why he's so many people's favourite) and Monica, well, she's fine, consistently funny throughout but nothing special.
David just set the bar incredibly high after season 5.

Interest thing about the character Ross is that he could've be the best and most favorite character of Friends. He is funny , he is hilarious , had the best scenes , he had the most "time screen" , he is a father , he loves science , he is a professor , he had a great job and career , he is kind of romantic...but we all know what happened to him on the show and everything started in season 2 when he left Julie 'cause of Rachel and then...you guys know...

Like yeah they did some toxic shit but their relationship doesn't need to be hated everywhere. I avoid most "friends" comment sections because even without there being a single scene of Ross and Rachel's relationship its ALWAYS "ugh I hate Rachel and Ross they're so gross etc etc etc" and I'm so tired of it. They had issues, but real life isn't filled with perfect adults. Adults are still human. We make mistakes, we have toxic traits sometimes. There's LOTS of good moments between them, too. And so what if you dont like them?? Can you like not mention it in every comment section ever? It's not a competition. The time was different back then, a lot of that stuff was seen as more funny and less toxic. Also, people need to realize that they were representing real people with real issues. It's just frustrating lmao but they're made out to be a lot worse than they are. Ross and Rachel are just as great as everyone else!!!

Joey was a literal playboy, nd even tho he was cute nd all, no girl would actually want to date him I they know how he is. People would have hated Ross's character even more if it wasn't for David. He was the best. I love Matthew Perry but it was easy for him to get into Chandler's character coz he was a lot like Chandler himself. But for David, Lisa and Matt, it was a lot more difficult coz those character were a lot different from their own self. Although I equally love all the characters, and all the actors. Why do we need to fight over anything when we know that all the six were equally important...

Actually, they wrote the *Ross Geller* character with David Schwimmer in mind. It was tailored to him. I can't speak for Lisa and Matt but David was literally the only one who had a character made _for_ him. Doesn't make him less of a good actor, though 👍

I always hear of people who don't like him but what they tend to forget is that at first their relationship was not balanced, Rachel was acting like a diva and Ross was living in fear of another woman leaving him like Carol did.
After he broke up with Rachel he began to gain confidence and to start laughing at himself. By the end he became quite the funny man who got all the ladies.
I think people tend to forget the Carol factor. That shit will mess a person up.
