It is criminal what happened to this track, and the community around it, Nascar should have kept at 1 race a season at this track

If I had the money, I would repave, rebuild, put better seats, everything needed, to put nascar back here.

There's a lot more to just "reopening" the racetrack. you have to score a deal with Nascar and hope that they are interested, but sadly for Wilkesbro Nascar has no interests in going back there..

If anyone see this message please give it some careful thought! Ok. This is includes all other former Nascar tracks else where.
This is taken from the ideas that an High School pool has. Yes I agree only high school students uses there pool. How about after school?
Well around where I live in Grafton Wisconsin. Their pool after school is open to the public to use. So the public has a place to go swimming. Especially during the winter months. If they have meets there? They'll close it up to the public for that night. Reopen it up the next day for the public to use the next day.
So why can't this be done to these race tracks. Open them up to the public to use. And the day that the local race team's wish to use it to race on. Close the track for that day for the public. And reopen it the next day for the public.
Does the public has to pay to use it?
Well they do to swim at the high school pool. So yes! Even the team's that go to the smaller tracks has to pay too. So yes to them too!
At the end. Those who race on these track. Can go off knowing that they got a chance to raced on the same track that their favorite Nascar race car driver raced on. So think about this!

Wait so NASCAR left because they thought they needed better tracks, or because of financial issues, or both?

LostHighwayFilms Both. NASCAR wanted to move on to bigger and better tracks, and the owner of North Wilkesboro didn't have enough money to keep it up.

The owner of half of the track Enoch Staley died and his wife sold there interest in the track to Bob Bahre from New Hampshire, who was begging for a second race at his track. The co-owner Mike Staley sold his shares to Bruton Smith who was trying to secure a date for his new track in Texas. Following there move of the races, they couldn't agree on what to do with North Wilkesboro. Bahre wanted to use it for other Nascar divisions but Smith didn't citing it would not be profitable, thus the track sat there falling apart.

Bruton Smith bought his half from the Combs family first, the Staleys wanted to keep the track open, but could not work with Smith, they them sold to Bahre and the track was dead...

NASCAR left to make the sport more nationally broad than centered in the south.

They left because of greed and greener corporate pastures. They been pissing on their roots ever since.

It a shame that this and many tracks that Nascar raced on is sitting there not to be used again. To me its kinda being disrespect. I wish these track could be pasurved like some of these race car are. Or open it for anyone who would like to race on it. I mean it more safer to race on the race track than it would be on the streets! Don't you think?
