I don’t have art block, I just get really insecure about my art and I stop drawing for months. I try to tell my self that I’m only 13 and I will learn over time but I just get really frustrated 😕 Wow thank you for the support. You don’t know how much I have needed this.
İ had been through that. Drawing 'nice' doesn't really matter. You should remember that if you keep practicing you will become a better version of yourself. İ wish you luck
I’m exactly the same. I jus get sick of thinking how bad my art is and get really overwhelmed and burnt out over it. It’s stupid but I understand. Also I watch things like this for inspiration but it kinda just makes me intimidated lol
I don't know if this will help, but try drawing just for fun, just for yourself, enjoying the process. I have a lot of insecurities about my art, and I did the same as you did, stopped doing stuff bc I thought it was bad, but lemme tell you what that did for me or my art: nothing. Then I started practicing just for myself, for fun, and it helped me a lot. I'm not really good, but practicing and studying made my drawings a lot better. Art is waaay more about practicing and studying than having lots of talent and being able to do perfect drawings the first time you try. I'm sure you're talented, and I'm sure your drawings are very nice. I hope I helped someway (:
Personally I love drawing hands and feet. They are so complex and interesting. How they have bits that go in and how all the parts sit together. I'm quite happy to draw a whole page of just hands for a bit and then feet. Additionally: I use my own hands and feet as the model sometimes. I’ve ended up with lots of pictures of myself. My photo archive looks crazy and maybe bit narcissistic 😅
I know that this is meant to be a funny comment, but in case some part of it is serious, I still recommend following the tips, especially about using references!! I have been learning how to draw for nine years and it's definitely a long process, esp since you never really finish learning, but what we have to remember is that even people we find really amazing, like Pypah, have been perfecting their technique for years and years. No one is just born knowing stuff. But if you keep trying regularly, even if you're not super intense about it, you'll improve a lot!! I believe in you.
@@julian.b.4846 hahaha definitely!!! references are the best way to learn and get used to human face and facial features in different angles :) when i was studying loomis method for drawing heads, they helped me so much. thank you though! really kind of you
Or when you somewhat understand anatomy and like ur art block gets so bad that its like, yea ik how a face works but whenever I draw a face it looks weird af and idk what I'm doing. This video was super helpful with getting back into the groove!
Would it not help to actually draw weird faced. To roll with it and just be crazy. I might try that. Maybe after awhile the weirdness softens and calms down, then we have something that we are happy with. Either way would might end up with some cool abstract stuff.
Yeah like me I am good at drawing humans I don’t really like drawing animals or nature so yeh and I haven’t went or art class or anything Idk I always was good at drawing humans even like my cousins who had gone to art class like I draw humans better using my imagination while they are better at animals and nature thing
I’m not gonna draw anything now bcz it’s midnight But am I still gonna watch a vid for ideas to draw when u don’t know what to draw? YES. Pypah made me do it
My art block comes from the fact that I never like what I draw. So I just get comfy and find a reference on Pinterest and I draw it. I don't usually like it but i do it anyway, also purchasing new markers makes me want to try them so that makes me draw too
After my finals this year I had a few whole months for my art, did my first Inktober and really saw some progress in my watercolour, proportions and realism in general because I drew like every day. Now my first semester at uni started and I haven't drawn since that :( I hate not having time for my art because it is my biggest passion. I got really rusty again.. Thanks for your videos ❤
This video couldn't come at a better time. I'm a beginner at drawing, and after a week I feel blocked, like I can't think of what to draw or practice. This was very helpful, thank you! ☺️😍
You sometimes feel bombarded with lots of ideas. Then you have to try and figure out how to make it, or if it's worth making. Sometimes I wish we could just send it from our minds to our hands, but I'm not yet at that skill level.
I'm watching this video whilst building a gallery website for my art and other members. So far so good. I hardly ever actually do art whilst watching art videos, but I take it in and apply what I've learn later. All the inspiration and insights it's GREATLY appreciated UWU
This is actually super helpful I’ve struggled with developing my skills and every time I tried to draw it never came out how I wanted so I lost all my motivation. Everything in this video is going to be great for me getting back on track thank you!!
thank you thank you thank you for this, you have no idea what you have done to help me get out of this almost 2 year art block😭 i havent found anything, thank you
You can also do this with a cheap watercolor set (usually cheaper than markers if you get a student grade palette). Then just randomly pick three colors. It’s super fun! (Also I totally understand not having any money to spend, but just thought I’d offer an alternative)
This is one of the most useful videos I've watched in a long time, THANK YOU FOR LINKING THOSE WEBSITES TOO!!! I haven't heard of any of those so THANK YOU!!!
Drawing what you see - yes, I understand you! First lesson in art class - we had to draw an old chair on a table while sitting on chairs around that table. Some students draw the seat but they can't see it. And sometimes we weren't able to see a chair leg. So we had to learn to switch off our brains which told us "This is a chair with a seat and four chair legs!" and just draw what we saw from our perspective.
You just saved me from losing my happiness in art, I was so unpleased with my art style but your video remembered me that it can look messy (and sometimes ugly) because I tried something
Oh thank you so much! I know this is old, but I was stuck this morning, looking at my paper thinking of what to draw. Thanks for this cuz I did not know what to draw for 10 days!
Tip! If you absolutely do not have an idea, use a Random Word Generator! It doesn't have to be an object or something, just connect the random word to different words or ideas, for example: Word: Subject Subject - > studying- > Reading - > (idea) person reading a book - > (another idea) Person journaling, sitting beside a window. There can be more steps, depending of how comfortable you are with the idea. For words that is connects to an emotion, you could show that person doing something related to it. You could even draw what you're feeling! Happy, Sad, Lost. Or what you are/were doing! Thinking, exercising, playing video games. Literally anything that could connect to those words. It doesn't have to be a self-portrait of something. It's great for testing/improving your creativity! Hopefully it helps!
I find that watching videos where other people make art really helps dissipate my art blocks!! That's a big part of why I always watch your videos, besides my love for your art style and the way you narrate your videos (and my love for artists who speak portuguese!! oi miga!! ahzgdhd). And I also really love drawing from clothing brand refs!! I think my favorite is Girlfriend Collective because since they're an active wear brand they sell a lot of tight stuff, which helps me with figuring out proportions, but they're not at all Your Standard Gym Brand with only the same kind of body; there are plenty of different models with really diverse hair, faces and bodies. I really recommend checking them out!! Also, I'd like to thank you for this video in general, because I'm only just starting out with digital art (I've tried it on and off for years, but traditional is my comfort zone) and it turns out I really did need some tips on what to draw as I try to figure out brushes and stuff. Thanks, Pypah!! Espero que você esteja tendo um ótimo dia!
Another thing to do during art block is to recreate something you’ve previously drawn but in a different medium/style etc or just simply to add things you wish you did before
This was super helpful! I feel like sometimes we can get caught up with trying to make everything look good instead of having fun with it and just trying new things! Thanks for this video💖
