An occassion where Sir Elton is clearly a king.
He's a king all the time! :D At least king on piano!
One of the greatest live performances ever recorded.
Elton John's piano solo is absolutely fantastic.
This needs at least a million views.
I can’t stop watching this.
No kidding. One of my favorite live performances ever. I'll be in this exact same arena next month to see Pet Shop Boys.
The best version of the song for me!.
Fantastic version, maybe even the best that I've heard! Not only instrumentally (Elton's fingers are in fantastic shape and the accompanying musicians are brilliant!) but also vocally. It is being played in the original key b minor, while later it was transposed to a minor, two half-tones lower. Elton sings it wonderfully, with all those rough notes, as they should be!
Generally he was singing brilliantly at that time, with this hoarseness and energy - it's my favourite period, somehow :)
You're probably thinking of "Where to Now St. Peter", which was transposed to A in the 1993 Ray Cooper tour, then pitched back up to B in 2007. "I Don't Wanna Go On With You Like That" has been performed in A Minor since the very beginning. And yes, I like the C5 at 4:02.
Lovely Ray Cooper is on percussion.A ray of sunshine.
This was great! Even better than the studio version! Thanks for posting
That high note at 4:00 ... Last time he sang that high without falsetto as far as I know.
That is falsetto
I like him since I was 14 years old. This song, I was 19, was so great, and i loved the mix which was on the single-cd. Now, 38 years old, I see this performance for the first time, and know that this one will never be repeated. Damn I love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
woooooow that hands that pianoman Elton, and such a lively vocal - and that colab with Clapton and Knopfler OMG that is makin me high!
Excellent voices Tracy Ackermann and Tessa Niles!
Elton's solo in this one is so SICK I think it has the FUCKING Swine FLU!!!
4:10 that last “i don’t wanna” makes me laugh so hard every time hahahaha
Sensacional! Amo Elton ❤️ Christian Schoroeder é espetacular no UA-cam nas canções do Elton John. Vale o ouvir !🎹💃👏👏👏 Aqui é do Rio de janeiro ! 🇧🇷
One of my favourite Elton John songs. After 2:50 everythings rocks up even more. Together with Eric "slow hand" Clapton and Mark Knopfler on guitars - they just go crazy. Imagine standing in front of the band and being part of the crowd at Elton's live concerts in those years. Well i've been fortunate and lucky, and have been to 4 live concerts in Denmark. Each time is was great, and Elton sang even better live... just like Whitney.
Ray cooper was just killing those drums in the bagground, awesome!!
I grew up hearing these guys on the radio. I'm thoroughly impressed by their live footage. If only I had been old enough back in the day to see these great artists. Jealous!
I went to see Elton John four times live and that was awesome!
michael mottlau I went first time in Poznań, 1995. It wasn't yet late 80's, unfortunately, but also was great! Then I went twice, in 2010 and 2012. Every time here, in Poland and every time Elton proved to be one of the best artists of present times, especially one of the best live performers!
Greetings!
janinazbabic Elton is awesome live, and I'm happy to hear that you also enjoyed several concerts with Elton John!! Greetings from Copenhagen Denmark
That piano...Holy Crow!!!
4:02 the last of Elton's highest part of his Falsetto and high register. RIP classic voice Elton.
Fun fact: that high C was only achieved in falsetto. In his younger years his highest note in his head voice was a Bb
I looooooove this, dear SIR Elton!! excellent instrumental - wow:-DDD
What a great performance!! Elton is definitely the king of music as well as Eric Clapton. One question, is that Phil Collins on the drums? I guess it is him, although I am not totally sure about it. Please, someone help me out
No that’s Ray Cooper who was a percussionist on many of Elton’s tours. Although if you’d like to see an epic mashup go to the performance of Im Still Standing live at the 1986 Prince’s Trust Rock Gala, It’s Elton on piano and vocals (obviously), Eric Clapton on guitar, and Phil Collins on drums!
Ray Cooper on the drums..........
Love this song
Chique este show do Elton John
...and also a great swing by Steve Ferrone, most hard-hitting jazz-drummer...
I got this recording from the live concert. It was released on digit a few months ago.
Amazing!!!
Elton says "take it Ray" (Ray Cooper), when he goes from percussion to drums.
he says "take it Reg" and then performs the piano solo. Elton`s real name is Reg Dwight...
Brilliant performance.
So sad it's not him playing.
Who is it?
Master!
SLOWHAND WAS SO MUCH powerfull when he was younge that was power from these younge guys htese badn if now try these they cant come near this
...well...perfect!!!

I believe this was the Tokyo Dome show a few days before the Budokan performance.
Nope Budokon concert
I looooooove this, dear SIR Elton!!
❤❤❤
Nathan East doing the belt-conveyor-trick at 3:24 XDDD
Somehow I don’t think Elton was doing this in rehearsal.
A great sound to play a guitar solo : i played this :)
божественно!
wanderfool
1988 I think was the finall year he had that much use of his falsetto left. It's a shame it was mostly lost afdter the operation
@jbeebee1 HAHA! Somethin tells me Elton wasnt doing that shit in rehearsal! whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I dont WANNA!
2019
on man. i havev't the words.. he's like no one else, look at the crowd..you don;t think any one can f=draw a crowd like him? if i;m not mistaken;;eric claption and dire straits was playing with him. ....wow what a performanve!!!!! I type so fast...I can,t speel either!!!! who cares.
Tore it UP
please .. who has the other video of this song live ....post. and place the link.that video that was
excluded from UA-cam
@mackystack17 He don`t need much rehearsal!Wooooooooow! Don`t wanna either;-)
if you convert this music to 8bits is that same with megaman 2 dr wily castle stage music.
Double falsetto 3:56
@Alcairo02
The guy with the beard :-)
4:15 what Elton say before his solo ? "Take Eric" (Clapton) ?
Alessandro A "Take it, Reg" I think
chenlung1 Yep.
Definitely "Take it, Reg," as a tribute to his birth name Reginald. In later performances of this solo he would just say, "Play the piano, boy." It's funny how Eric thinks he's being called to do another solo!
Who was the bass player??
I'm sorry but Clapton's guitar sounds to the piano of Elton like a chicken front of a symphony orchestra :-)
why have mark and Eric and then no solo.
Eric has a solo. And this Elton’s song. They prolly had solos on their own songs.
@jbeebee1
Which one's Eric Clapton?
the one with the fender
@@pabloperez4063 and the beard
This isn't Elton. Everyone knows he was in an accident in 1975 and replaced by a equally talented double.
I never heard that. That’s wild.
@@RJS1974 I was joking. I heard that theory when someone was talking about the Paul mccartney replacement conspiracy. I definitely think that Elton and Paul are still the originals.
them drums and guitar have alot of echo on it
The comments about Elton's voice are wrong. His vocal surgery was just after the Leather Jackets Tour 1987. The Orechestral concert in Australia was his last concert before the surgery. His voice has just aged further since this performance. This was however, not long before his rehab in 1990.
Elton actually had the surgery during the "Tour De Force." With the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. If you'll watch the Documentary about it,
It tells that. He had to cancel 1 show to have the operation. Yeah, this was the Tokyo Dome concert- 1988. About two years before Rehab in Chicago.
The leather jackets tour was supposed to been in 1987 but got canceled due to the vocal operation after the tour de force in late 86
he can still sing but his range is very limited now
Mark Knopfler plays circus music
What does that mean?
not really like Clapton's tone in this period
Looks like he enjoyed tho. These musicians are not snobs like the fans. They appreciate all kinds of music and musicians.
Amazing!!!!
