I own a 99 XJ8 sport in Alpine green, exactly the model in this vid. £1,200 well spent. Who gives one about the mpg, it's worth it for the comfort, speed and feeling I get when I just look at it. Change the fluids regularly and get the right battery and they are really reliable.
Great video. You can't beat that generation of XJ Jags. Far better than the modern abominations such as the XF-Ford Mondeo. I've got a 1997 XJ6 Executive and it's the best car I've ever had, I love driving it. Interestingly enough most X300/X308 XJ's that come on the second hand market these days seem to be Sports. It must have been the model that sold best at the time.
I wouldn't say a 99 XJR is a pile of junk. Reviews are actually quite good. The body certainly has a more classic look. And after a few of the quirks under the hood (plastic tensioners, water pump, etc.) are worked out, most people are saying that this is one of the better Jag models.
Xjs are great car but really... How did those guys managed to make videos so boring? I mean, the 5 minute video about "XJ" actually contains more than 2 minutes of unrelated nonsense.
And Jaguar only got BETTER over the years. It's high time that I buy one as I've never owned a British car (all German brands except Porsche) and I can't afford the other brands from England like Aston-Martin, Bentley, McClaren and Rolls-Royce. Not too sure if I'd get a Land-Rover as a British friend of mine here in Florida called them rubbish. I'd love this body style and the body style that followed it, lovely cars indeed and Ford never should've sold Jaguar and especially Volvo for that matter.
@@jmin8400 the GB in the car limited it's reliability and made people get shot when issues were noticed. The car then passed to people who could afford to maintain and was scrapped. The 8 speeds that ZF made after this period are far better and if they were available would have transformed the car. Fact
@@andrewseamaster 🤦🤦You seem to lack the mental awareness, that regardless of reliability, the 8 speed gearbox you are hoping for never existed in that era, so it never had a chance in X308 anyway. Try focusing on other gearboxes available between 1997 and 2001, which were ALL 4 or 5 speeds! You don't make sense at all, as plenty of older cars could've been transformed by modern technology and conveniences.
@@jmin8400 FFS listen 👂 not broadcast you 🤡. I know it wasn't available!!! Stop going on about it. The car would have been better had it been available! That's what I have said twice now but you bias has you broadcasting you crap
That green paint looks so nice on the Jaguar XJ.
Alpine green, same as mine.👍

Great car and no wonder this guy has never been seen, since this video aired.
"He's got a pile of junk, and we've got one of the best cars in the world"
Best car in the world is right, 15 years later and I've got one hehe!
I agree!

I have 2 lol
'...this sports button gives you slightly more sports like driving...' FFS, how did this guy not make it onto Grand Tour?

this is on purpose. These reviews are meant to be slow, relaxed and with a touch of marijuana smell :-)
Maybe because you're 13?

Porsche in german
Nothink wrong with a good landy...
my daily is a 3.2 sport and I love my green little car
Or god forbid a Japanese car...... how times have changed
Oh wow I love that paint job but if I had a car I would make it in British racing green
WOW, were they ever wrong on the engine issues that would follow shortly after this video was done..
As I type away in January 2020 I am getting the distinct impression the climate lobby do indeed want to take us back to the days of the horse and cart
Bib The Boulder they want to take us farther back then that
German gearbox
That was actually quite shite. Shame it didn't get the likes of the ubiquitous 8 speed. That would transform this car.
@@andrewseamaster ??? No common sense, as there was no 8 speed until Lexus came out with one in 2006, 4 years after X308 was discontinued.
