Can I just say I tried this brand on a whim. And my cystic acne is gone. I definitely recommend people do their research to find the right product for skin but this brand actually saved my confidence. For scarring I definitely recommend using the resuvetol and ferulic acid that she mentioned with the 100% asorbic acid (vitamin c powder).
New subbie: I'm new to The Ordinary, so I took your advice on this product and tried it today - eyes and face- and it worked on both. I have bags from bad sleep (and other stuff), particularly under the left eye. It's horribly noticeable, but this stuff visibly reduced it within a few minutes. No lie. I also saw a reduction of puffiness around my mouth and laugh area when I added it to my moisturizer like you suggested. It's been about 6 hours now, and the effects are still here. This has never happened before with any product I've ever used and I thank you so much for the tip!

I have a question, I thought using Vitamin C makes your skin more sensitive and prone to sunburns. So how would vitamin C help your sunscreen? Am I completely mistaken about vitamin c?
By itself yes. It makes the skin sensitive to the sun. It doesnt directly react with the UVs to cause harm per say. So when it is under the sunscreen, the sensitive skin is covered and the little rays that goes through end up attracted to the antioxidants rather than the skin cells. Well at least that's what I understood. But I'm pretty confused too. We don't have enough studies on it yet.
Vitamin C should be used in the morning as it acts as a protector from all the bad stuff during the day. However, Vitamin C is an acid and therefore you must use sunscreen so it can do it's actual job.

I use retinol 1% in squalene from the ordinary, I also use vitamin c ethylated ascorbic acid 15% in the morning, the retinol 1% only at night. Do yo think The ordinary granactive 5% with squalene is more effective then the 1%retinol in squalene?....thankyou.

One question - could you please define what 'direct acids' are? I avoid using LAA, Glycolic, L-Ascorbic with any peptide serum (such as Buffet), but are there any others I should know about - eg: is alpha lipoic a direct acid? is tretinoin/retinoic acid (my prescription) a direct acid? The Ordinary mentions the conflict between direct acids and peptides, but doesn't list all the direct acids.
G'Day! I've used the Magnesium with my 50plus Dermalogica sunblock (moisturizing ten minutes before sunblock- I'm in Australia and use 50unblock-plus religiously 3-4 times a day in Summer. Myself and my kids go through about 500ml every 6 weeks) I've also used the caffeine and HA moisturiser at night... But I didn't know about the hemi-squaline and resveratrol (sorry, I spelled them wrong, but am not near them to check the bottles). Ive used the reservatrol before vit C. I'll change that right away to use with Hemi. I've been using the regular one for a while now and love it, so I'm sure I'll be able to buy the hemi next time I order. Thanks for the advice! @@vladislavamateva1124 i didn't find out anything about it,but I have never heard that niacinamide and AHA BHA peeling solution shouldn't be mixed together. Personally I use niacinamide after the peeling solution and I haven't experienced anything bad. I use AHA BHA once or twice a week, top it of with niacinamide, moisturizer and Spf. But after I cleanse my face on the days that I don't use the peel I use niacinamide normally.

I do have two questions, I have Lactic acid and Retinol (both low percentage), the only two who are confusing me, since I just started with acids. I plan to get Buffet, how should I use those three and what to mix with them to boost them. I can't use lactic or Retinol more than twice a week, my skin reacts. I have dehydrated dry skin. Hem Hem Nyn you can’t use Buffet and lactic acid together but it’s goes well with retinol. I’d say retinol and lactic acid are good PM ingredients to use on alternate nights not together. Niacinamide goes well with retinol and I use BHA with AHAs.

Isn't it kinda pointless to wear an antioxidant at night where there's the least oxidative stress? Aren't antioxidants precisely there to get degraded by the sun instead of your skin cells? If they work in topical form at all which hasn't been robustly demonstrated?

You can mix with a moisturizer without any actives. You can use on the contour of the eye but follow it up with a regular eye cream, since the caffeine is more of a serum.

yes it will. Never mix niacinamide and pure ascorbic acid in the the same routine. Paula Begoun(the creator of Paula's Choice) says that this combination can actually be extremely beneficial, but it's not recommended for beginners because they might overmix it and damage their skin.

What other things can be mixed. The Reservatol, can it be mixed with the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate in the AM for example? Or with the B-Oil or Rosehip oil in the PM? Does it make sense to mix the alpha arbutin+HA with the Niaciamide+Zinc, I think they mix well regarding texture at least. And what about Lactic acid and the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate - it seems in another video you say those should be mixed and used in the AM followed by sunscreen?
Can I use the Niacinamide and Zinc serum after the BHA and AHA Peel and top it off with a hempseed facial oil? An answer would be appreciated. I've been struggling from acne for a while now. And it's gotten to a point where it's starting to affect my social life and my mental state.

I've used the Magnesium with my 50plus Dermalogica sunblock (moisturizing ten minutes before sunblock- I'm in Australia and use 50unblock-plus religiously 3-4 times a day in Summer. Myself and my kids go through about 500ml every 6 weeks)
I've also used the caffeine and HA moisturiser at night...
But I didn't know about the hemi-squaline and resveratrol (sorry, I spelled them wrong, but am not near them to check the bottles).
Ive used the reservatrol before vit C. I'll change that right away to use with Hemi. I've been using the regular one for a while now and love it, so I'm sure I'll be able to buy the hemi next time I order.

Am - arbutin + niacinamide, then eye cream, face moisturizer then sun block
Pm - niacinamide + retinoid 2% then eye cream and face moisturizer
Both eye cream and moisturizer is other brand..
Can i replace my eye cream and moisturizer with mixture of caffeine and natural moisturizer in both my am and pm routine?

@@vladislavamateva1124 i didn't find out anything about it,but I have never heard that niacinamide and AHA BHA peeling solution shouldn't be mixed together. Personally I use niacinamide after the peeling solution and I haven't experienced anything bad. I use AHA BHA once or twice a week, top it of with niacinamide, moisturizer and Spf. But after I cleanse my face on the days that I don't use the peel I use niacinamide normally.
@@janalazarevic7932 i also didnt find out that aha bha and niacinamide shouldnt be mixed. But someone i usually buy the ordinary from said that i shouldnt mix niacinamide and aha bha.
If you want to apply niacinamide, give it a time because you shouldnt apply niacinamide after you apply the aha bha. Idk why

Antioxidants degrade in water formulas. But the caffeine solution is water based. So is it working at all as an antioxidant?

I do have two questions, I have Lactic acid and Retinol (both low percentage), the only two who are confusing me, since I just started with acids. I plan to get Buffet, how should I use those three and what to mix with them to boost them. I can't use lactic or Retinol more than twice a week, my skin reacts. I have dehydrated dry skin.
Second question what foundation you normally use, I think we have same undertone. 😁 I'm having troubles finding what I need, also that's cruelty free...

Hem Hem Nyn you can’t use Buffet and lactic acid together but it’s goes well with retinol. I’d say retinol and lactic acid are good PM ingredients to use on alternate nights not together. Niacinamide goes well with retinol and I use BHA with AHAs.

I wanted to buy:
-Bioelements Beyond Hydration (gel moisturizer),
-Ordinary’s AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution,
-Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG, -Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
Is this a good combination or is this too much new things at once?
PS. I use Dr. bronner’s tea tree oil soap as my cleanser and I oil cleanse with grape seed oil. And still looking for a good moisturizer/sunscreen
Isn't it kinda pointless to wear an antioxidant at night where there's the least oxidative stress? Aren't antioxidants precisely there to get degraded by the sun instead of your skin cells? If they work in topical form at all which hasn't been robustly demonstrated?

I just started using The Ordinary Caffiene solution today. Can I use it on areas other than my eye contour as the directions mentioned on the bottle?. And can I mix it with a normal moisturizer?
You can mix with a moisturizer without any actives. You can use on the contour of the eye but follow it up with a regular eye cream, since the caffeine is more of a serum.
What's better to mix with the moisturizer, caffeine solution or pycnogenol? ❤

yes it will. Never mix niacinamide and pure ascorbic acid in the the same routine. Paula Begoun(the creator of Paula's Choice) says that this combination can actually be extremely beneficial, but it's not recommended for beginners because they might overmix it and damage their skin.

Need to be reapplying spf?! What if we wear makeup on top? Will it help the longevity of the moistirizer spf to apply makeup with spf on top?
What other things can be mixed. The Reservatol, can it be mixed with the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate in the AM for example? Or with the B-Oil or Rosehip oil in the PM?
Does it make sense to mix the alpha arbutin+HA with the Niaciamide+Zinc, I think they mix well regarding texture at least.
And what about Lactic acid and the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate - it seems in another video you say those should be mixed and used in the AM followed by sunscreen?
Can I use the Niacinamide and Zinc serum after the BHA and AHA Peel and top it off with a hempseed facial oil?
