    Fantastic!!!! Reminds me of the vintage bags from 60s & 70s...a time that I treasured. Thanks so much!

    I have been searching for an easy way to make a rectangle bottom bag, this is an excellent and easy pattern. I can’t wait to try it. Heading to my scrap yarn right after this post. I’ll let you know how it comes out. 😊 Thank You!

      That is wonderful. I will actually be releasing another easy flat bottom design later this spring that is also very easy and can create an even wider bottom.

    I like so many of the features of this bag. I like the box bottom, the straps on the sides, the rope for the handles. My favorite part is using scrap yarn. Thanks for the project.

    Cute bag. Crocheting the sides of the bag adds stability to the bag. I hang mine on the head rest of my car, keeps all my emergency stuff in one place and easily accessible. Again cute bag, I'm making one. Thank you 😊

      You are welcome 😊 I like to use this trick often. It works with fabric too, to make a liner.

      For a beginner, sewing this one maybe easier, but I thought making it no sew would be fun.

    I have found that using 2 strands looks even better because as you join a new color, it’s not so noticeable - it just blends.

    I crocheted a market bag over the winter of 2021-22 to weaR summer of 2022 - but did not LOVE it. Got many compliments - but I just don't LOVE it. Plus too stretchy. I LIKE this folded bag technique - just not the handle. I'm going to crochet or knit an i-chain for the handle. Also liked your 'ragg ' cakes'! tfs!

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 роки тому +1

      Acrylic yarn is stretchy. If you use cotton yarn it will have less stretch, but most people have more acrylic yarn scarps. An I-chain handle would be nice.

      I am glad to hear that. I really love simple patterns that have a clever twist. Just make a longer starting chain and make it taller. Remember that the width of your project should be the equal to the width of the front and one side of your bag.

    Nice! I’m going to make one. I’ve already made a thick scrapghan using double thickness of yarn (UA-camr Darlene Michaud’s method), and now I think a I’ll make a bag. I was fussing around trying to learn how to crochet an oval bottom, but I like your method of box stitching a bottom. Wish me luck! 😊 Thank you for the video.

    Just from watching (and maybe because I'm not the best at sewing) I feel like crotcheting the sides and the loop for the rope looks easier! I might change my mind when I try it 😂

    Hi! I just finished making my first scrap yarn bag, using your tutorial. I didn’t have that measuring tool you used to measure for the stitch to turn the bag into a flat bottom.I just used a measuring tape and followed your directions. I think it turned out ok. But I have question. You didn’t show what the inside of the bag looked like once sewn. My 2 inch stitch triangle flapped around so attached the with some slip stitches to sides of the bag. This made the bag a little sturdier to stand up. I don’t know if I’m making sense. I really enjoyed the process of making this bag. 😊

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  Рік тому

      The little triangle are suppose to be on the side of the bag but I have seen them left on the outside as well. You can either sew them to the bottom of the bag or to the side. Both ways work.

    I'm not done yet but I have done everything you said to do but when I put it together it definitely does not look like a bag. I feel like I have done something wrong. But this is my first time making one so I know it probably won't come out exactly the way it supposed to. I'm just gonna go head and finish it and see what happens. I love this video thank you.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  2 роки тому +1

      Can you explain what doesn't make it look like a bag? It is a simple rectangle that we will crochet the edges together to make a bag shape then slip stitch the corners to give it a flat bottom. You could sew the sides together and sew the corners if you like. If you remain stuck, just leave a new comment and let me know what it does look like.

      It is an easy way to make it flat bottom. I wanted to keep the video short, but in the future I would love to do a video showing how to figure out the measurements to use this technique to make any size bag with any width.

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  4 роки тому

      Can you explain that better. I am not sure how you would save yarn by folding it a different direction. I also think that would make sewing the bottom harder.

    What kind of ruler are you using when you measured the corner?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  3 роки тому

      I believe it is called a quilter's square. You can find them in the quilting/fabric section of the craft store. I also like to use it for checking gauge because it holds the swatch flat and doesn't stretch it.
