The Traveler and Paimon may have come off as rude at first but tbh, Furina needed it. I bet people have been walking on eggshells with her. She's no longer playing a role, she needs someone who'll interact with her like a normal person that she now is. She needs support and companionship who jest and tease her. Mental struggles are harder to overcome when one is alone. Hm, that's a good point. Personally I wouldn't like people walking on eggshell because I would feel pitied and a alone, I already felt that kind of thing and that's very uncomfortable... But overall I disagree with how Paimon and the traveler acted, not because I think they should walk on eggshells instead but because I felt like they just didn't care.
The only problem with this is that MC/Paimon were acting too close for what was minimal interaction until now. The so called teases were also definitely closer to being outright insulting as opposed to knowing how she wants to be treated and doing that. We gaslit and guilt tripped Furina into helping out the Troupe. Furnina then gaslights and guilt trips the Troupe into performing in the Opera House. I hope she bullies the Traveler and Paimon into Acting in a play.
Just because a word is popular doesn’t change its meaning, this isn’t gaslighting, there was not a part where the MC manipulated Furina through words that makes one question their sanity. Guilt trip? Maybe but it wasn’t even intentional, You really don’t understand that Furina herself is a very strong willed character, but she has a heart. (It would be hard to gaslit her after her 500 yrs of struggle) Even until the end she refused the role adamantly. Circumstances came and Furina had to help in the end.
I've watched a few replays of this quest and after hearing that this quest specifically deals with true to life, trauma management, I think I kinda get what they wanted to do here. The premise is that Furina is struggling with finding a new path in life now that she has lost her position, she should finally revel in her freedom but as is shown at the start she is not very enthusiastic about her new lease on life. the story is supposed to make her reanalyze her situation and understand that acting as an expression of self is very different from what she went though for 500 years. that was a self imposed duty not a means of creative expression. This is only the second reaction I saw from this man and I already love his commentary. It made me realize a lot of things I missed or haven't thought about. Also a fellow Furina enthusiast, we will stan. 🙏
Hope Hoyoverse learns from this, the attitude of the traveler and Paimon was frustrating this quest. The worst part is that Furina acknowledges their rudeness in most scenes, 13:42 for example, which Furina will later apologies for at 17:25 ????? If anything, the traveler and Paimon should apologize. Ive seen them do it to others as well over my 2 years of Genshin, but never this packed in a single story quest, and to Furina of all characters... (Im sure the traveler and Paimon had good intensions and wanted to help Furina not wallow anymore, but still was tilting to see them that way)
Yeah they've done it before but usually not so much and to people they've already become friends with so it felt more like little jabs that friends might do to each other. Meanwhile Furina was here in a funk after 500 years of pretending to be someone she wasn't and I definitely wouldn't consider the traveler and paimon friends with her until later in the quest. Both of those things together just kind of makes it feel...mean?
Love your reaction as always! I find it funny that you finally got what I have been feeling towards Traveler and Paimon ever since Inazuma hahaha. On one note, at 29:54 you said to the Poisson NPCs that Furina wasnt the one they should be angry with, I would like to give an argument on that; because unlike in Liyue ending Arc in which Ningguang herself explained to Liyue people about Rex Lapis situation (they decided to alter the truth into "Rex Lapis got into some kind of Divine Judgment" whatsover, similar to what Bronya did on Belobog arc), we dont even know what kind of explanation Neuvilette gave to Fontaine people at the aftermath of the whole trial and the flood. Court of Fontaine people regarded Furina much milder and even forgiving because most of them were present at the Opera House where they explained that "the Original Sin of Hydro Archon was creating Fontainians" therefore, even tho Furina isnt the Archon, they still forgave her for doing her duty and responsibility of something out of her control. Unlike them, people of Poisson werent even present at the trial (only some of them acted as the goons Navia sent to "chase after" Furina to lure her into Lyney's Magical Mini House thing), didnt know anything about the truth of the Prophecy, they immediately lost their families and friends and the government practically did nothing for prevention of such things (not even early alert disaster detection), and even tho Furina wasnt the Hydro Archon, she was the one who was in charge. The Court of Fontaine people all survived and even got to taste Wriothesley's Wingalet but they didnt even get anything aside of loss and sorrow and being kept in the dark for so long. So yeah, personally I would say, give them a break too. Navia will help them to move on and eventually they will accept Furina as one of their own. 😄
@@GoDogArchives That is actually a good question. I have been thinking about it, does a vision given by sovereign dragons with their full power grant more power to people who's vision comes from a sovereign dragon? I am inclined to believe that Furina has the potential to overpower every regular vision holder, as I think visions given by Sovereingns are more powerful than those given by archons, because a dragon sovereign with full power regardless is still way stronger than any archon, or harbinger.
@@medojed8266We don't really know atm. Furina is obviously a special case among vision users, it comes from a Sovereign, she has both arke (and two bodies somehow?) and uses primordial water instead of regular hydro. Is her potential all due to Neuvi tho? Since Furina's existence is also quite unique, there might be some other factors.
@@kieran1129 You are right in that, if you mean 2 bodies as outfits it is presumably because the white one represents her masquerade of hapiness and enjoyment and the black outfit represents her actual self, sad, calmer etc.
Just wanted to say that your reactions are always so sweet and genuine, it's hard to find a person who actually cares about the story not about clickbates and likes. And I'm very glad that youtube recommended me this channel. Hope you'll get even more followers in the future because you surely deserve it❣️
Up until this quest i have never had a problem with the traveler and only annoyed by Paimon a few times, but at the start the traveler was annoying me by not doing anything about Paimons attitude and Paimon was straight up pissing me off with the guilt tripping.
The traveler was very neutral in this story quest in my opinion, had like one bad moment but as you level up Furina actually it shows how much the traveler actually cares about her.
@@nguyenhanh1271 Completely saying rude is a bit too much, the traveler remained neutral on the most part and had like 1 or 2 slightly over the line moments. Other than that the traveler cares about her the most from all the characters actually.
@@medojed8266I disagree, traveler never showed once that they cared about Furina (whether it was in the Archons or Story Quest). They literally just went to see her because they wanted a favor not because they cared about her.
@@kieran1129 In the archon quest there was none you are right, in the story quest it was a little bit. However after the story quest when you level her up for example it shows that the traveler cares a great deal about her, maybe cares the most out of any characters as of now.
If you look at it as exposure therapy you might feel a bit better about it, after all is not like she hated acting, just the way in which she had to before. XD
Ngl i dont think i can watch this quest again but will definitely check out the cutscene reaction. I remember ppl wanting trigger warnings for wrio's sq idk abt that one but his one definitely needs them. I have never been so triggered by any quest this much.
I think Paimon and the Traveler should have been toned down with the rudeness in this quest but I understand what they were trying to go for, getting her out of her comfort zone to help her heal (risky as that is). It would have been a lot better if they clarified the passage of time.
its very weird tbh because they wrote it the way they did on porpuse cuzz furina responds to it and acknowledges them being rude to her, meaning paimon and the mc being rude to fruina was done on porpuse for some odd reason....
If i being honest that mc and paimon being rude making player angry is almost like hoyoverse trying to make same like how furina first introduce , making some player piss of at them but that what i can see from my point of view as script writer
From this SQ, I love Furina more than I thought possible (especially after AQ)! But I hate Paimon more than i thought possible... EQ (emotional intelligence) is at the bottom of the Mariana Trench this one Truly the duality of character writing Also Katheryne doxxing Furina is so infuriating, like imagine she does this to Arlechinno.... bruh
Imagine conspiracy: that Neuvillette created whole troup as mimics, and put new evidence in records (which is why it was not found before), just to see Furina perform again... and gave her vision for it. :D Its bullcrap, i know... director was known in disapperance case, still it would be sadly funny.
My reaction to the Traveler's remarks (and especially Paimon's) in this quest was absolutely the same. It seems that the MC and Paimon did not participate in the last act of the Archon quest. Further, we understand that everything turned out well for Furina, but the beginning was objectively rude from our side. At the first meeting after main storyline, it was possible to find much more worthy words for a self-contained girl tired of hassle for hundreds of years than to carry some nonsense about a new acting job from the first person who came across, who left some fcking request in some fcking Adventurers' Guild
I freaking hate Paimon and Traveller in this quest. They were so toxic. Why tf did they keep asking Furina even after she refused once. Paimon was not respecting Furina's boundaries at all and everytime furina was being vulnerable and sincerely talking about her feelings, paimon literally made jokes about her being dramatic and called her drama queen. It was kicking someone who's already down and going through centries of mental torture. Also the fact that Traveller didn't say anything about paimon's rude behavior is fucking disappointing even after he literally saw how mentally sick furina was in her inner world while he treated Ei like queen after Ei clearly abused her citizens by being stupid shut in for no solid reasons. It's fcking unfair. Even in archon quest when furina was about to get executed, traveller approached her because he needed answer, not saving furina out of good way, he cared more about his question than her life🤡. Whoever wrote Traveller and paimon's dialogs in this patch must be smoking naku weebs lol. Literally zero character developments, all he got is mc's privilege. I just hope they were a bit sensitive and considerate after all the years of mental suffering she endured, asking once or twice is ok but they were being pushy especially that short bitch emergency food. It reminds of a movie where police kept asking rape victim about her traumatic experience.
I can’t stand stand the people defending Traveler and Paimon in the comment section lmao. Not just because she’s a character, but because if this was a real person suffering from trauma, this is NOT an okay thing to do. When someone clearly and verbally states their boundaries because they have a sensitive emotional state and you purposely try to make them break those boundaries, you WILL cause more harm than good. This is 1000% not an okay thing to do to a person. Furina’s response is fiction. Anyone would do well to remember that. Please don’t think pressuring trauma victims into their triggers will ever end well. If a trauma victim is ready to face their triggers, they have to verbally say they’re okay with facing them. Furina REPEATEDLY drew a line that was crossed by literally everyone in this entire quest. And when they cross that line, they need patience and support. Not an utter lack of sympathy and rude comments like we saw from the Traveler and Paimon. I hope they address this because Genshin is perpetuating super dangerous ideas of what’s okay when dealing with someone with PTSD. A lot of the Genshin community is young and impressionable and they really shouldn’t be under the impression that this behavior would result in a positive outcome just because the writers decided to write a positive ending.
Excuse me sir, where have your reactions been all my life??? How am I supposed find the time to watch your reactions to the story until this point??? Anyway, speaking of Traveler, I'm mad. Like, on one hand, Furina needed that push to break out of her shell, but on the other, couldn't they have written the dialogs better??? As a Traveler main *and* Furina stan, I am heckin' disappointed. I hope we get a better 2nd story quest, because this ain't it 😭
I just can’t see any purpose of this quest. Beginning is sooo anti climatic…ugh. Quest forces (also literally by traveler) her fit into the same role again and desperately want to convince us that it was her decision in the end - that being actress again is not that bad. (yup right after she was put into unchoosable choice). Not to mention that she broke the boundary that she gave herself just by one hour later.. Hell, they could execute same narrative not forcing her into it, but by passing by this troupe problems. Wasted: voice acting, singer performance and scene with vision. All in all - act V for poor. P.s. Poisson people. They don’t know the whole thing and even if they did, they are at pain of loss. Emotions need to be expressed somewhere or onto someone. Like in life. P.p.s Traveler and Paimon never was THAT dumb and empathyless in any quests before.
I could go on and on about how much I dislike and think the Traveler / Paimon mistreated Furina, but oh well. Regarding the play though, the way I see the song Furina sung, the love interest in the play is symbolic of Furina/Focalors being able to live truly as a human. Experiencing love and living normally in the world of Fontaine would be very human activities, not involved in the greater schemes at work and living for one's self. But it wasn't possible for her to do that as she was both divinity and human, and since her divinity placed upon her the grave burden of duty she had as an archon in releasing her people from a sin that she didn't even commit. In the play and directly told through the song, the Little Oceanid sacrifices her desired life and becomes sea foam (like the little mermaid) to ensure the safety and well being of both her lover and the entire nation, which is facing a catastrophe due to a a sin which, with important emphasis, she did not commit herself. In the play, the sin is the people's behavior driving the water away, and in Furina/Focalors reality, it's the sin of the appropriation of the Primordial sea by Egeria. This is a mirror to what Focalor did the entire quest; She was duty bound to sacrifice herself for something she really did not sign up for. In the Little Oceanid, the oceanid wasn't the cause but had the power to fix everything. In reality, she also was not the cause, but the title of archon was thrust upon her and by extension the duty of saving everyone. By sacrificing herself and releasing the Hydro Archon's authority of water (turning into seafoam in the play), she ensured a future where her human half (the life she coveted, her 'lover' in the play) and the nation of Fontaine at large (which is still Fontaine in the play) could continue to prosper. The primary irony here is that Fontaine in reality faced a flooding crisis, and in the play faced a drought crisis. The lyrics of the song say words such as "If only true love were enough. . . My wish. . ." which is her lamenting if only she could live as her full self, both divinity and human, amongst her people, which in the play would be the lover and Furina. But her greater wish was the survival of both her humanity and humans at large, and so true love wasn't enough and begged a larger sacrifice. Furina/Focalors story is a tragic one of duty vs. desire and I love how they handled the symbolism in that theme.

You know you make a good point, I mean we lost literally half of poisson, at this point I don't exactly blame them.
Furina's vision is a little special in that it has four little dragon fangs in it signifying that it came from the Hydro Dragon Neuv
which means every hydro vision wielder from here on out will be OP asf
37:29 oh god u really do this
i can't lol
We have the same reaction when the cutscene came up. I wanna cry and smile at the same time. It hurts so much but I'm really happy for her.
Just wanted to say that your reactions are always so sweet and genuine, it's hard to find a person who actually cares about the story not about clickbates and likes. And I'm very glad that youtube recommended me this channel. Hope you'll get even more followers in the future because you surely deserve it❣️
you're too kind haha...I appreciate it
Up until this quest i have never had a problem with the traveler and only annoyed by Paimon a few times, but at the start the traveler was annoying me by not doing anything about Paimons attitude and Paimon was straight up pissing me off with the guilt tripping.
The traveler was very neutral in this story quest in my opinion, had like one bad moment but as you level up Furina actually it shows how much the traveler actually cares about her.
It's too bad that they made traveller in the archon quest quite neutral and understandable but Furina'story quest just rude in many ways
AQ : Bullying Simulator
SQ : Doxxing, Gaslighting, Rubbing the Salt, etc.
Yes, I'm kinda mad that empathy is none existent...
If you look at it as exposure therapy you might feel a bit better about it, after all is not like she hated acting, just the way in which she had to before. XD
Omg 1:18:44 made me unexpectedly wheeze after I was crying from her singing 😭😭😭
She deserves all the hugs in the world!
12:00 more like how did the writers didn't even consider the outcomes.
ı actually really like traveler pushy in this quest , if traveler not take furina out of home, she will probably live hikikomori until she dies
If i being honest that mc and paimon being rude making player angry is almost like hoyoverse trying to make same like how furina first introduce , making some player piss of at them but that what i can see from my point of view as script writer
Well, we (at least me) cried a lot in Fontaine because it's nation of hydro, that's it, yes..
1:20:34 - bruh..Bruh!....BRUH!!!
I think at least the traveler and paimon show empathy towards Furina at the begining should make this story Q alot better
1:18:45 Highly suggest people to take a look at this same scene in Japanese dub, the Ahhhh part is hilarious.
From this SQ, I love Furina more than I thought possible (especially after AQ)!
But I hate Paimon more than i thought possible... EQ (emotional intelligence) is at the bottom of the Mariana Trench this one
Truly the duality of character writing
Also Katheryne doxxing Furina is so infuriating, like imagine she does this to Arlechinno.... bruh
Fontain àn Furina make you cry too much right 😂
Imo if they provided a closure in the archon quest and talked with Furina afterwards it would've made the beginning of the SQ better
exactly, that's how I felt. Either that or they just could've delayed the quest a bit till maybe the second banner.
Imagine conspiracy: that Neuvillette created whole troup as mimics, and put new evidence in records (which is why it was not found before), just to see Furina perform again... and gave her vision for it. :D
Its bullcrap, i know... director was known in disapperance case, still it would be sadly funny.
I love the edits it’s so funny
Hoyo outdone themselves with Fontaine. 10/10 story
❤
Sometimes I wish Skirk yeet Paimon for us instead of Childe.
Im still mad over the mc and paimon
Ok but you really look like ProZD
that's like the fourth or fifth time I've heard someone mention this
The gaslighting and emotional manipulation at the start of this was yeah... so damn infuriating.
I hope we get a better 2nd story quest, because this ain't it 😭
Haha thank you thank you XD I'm glad you like my reactions that much.
This quest made me annoyed at paimon and traveler, had furina not been through enough 😭
