What a great find. Very jealous at Big Tractor Power :) The green 9100s are a rare find today as several were repainted to orange. To add a little history Deutz wanted to add a high horse power tractor to its line up to replace the Allis-Chalmers 8000 series. When Deutz acquired The AC farm division it did not include the tractor plant. Deutz imported all of its tractors from Germany which topped out at 145 hp. Deutz contracted with White to make the 9100 series. In 1990 when AGCO was formed the key reason they acquired White was to have a source of tractors. AGCO moved Deutz-Allis/White tractor production from Coldwater, OH to the Gleaner Combine Plant in Indepence, MO. When the tractor production shifted to Missouri is when the color changed from green to orange. In the mid-90's tractor production shifted back to Coldwater and Gleaner moved to Hesston, KS.
we had several 9170 and 9190 all of them was green we repainted them orange, they was just a white tractor with a duetz motor which is far better motor than anything else offered
So does Agcostar 4wd tractors fit into this story? They made a 360hp and a 425hp tractor. Only those 2 models both articulated 4wd tractors, both very affordable
Deutz tractors are very popular here in Argentina. The equivalent to this here is the Deutz 160, with the BF6L913 engine and 160 HP. It's a workhorse, it's unbreakable.
Boy don't that bring back memories. I ran an orange 9150 in 92 and we also had a green 9190 we leased for a while. There where a bunch of those sold in the Wilmington Ohio area.
Air cooled diesel -- I sure learned something with that. Saw several nice John Deere tractor/planter combos out in fields along US 35 in West Virginia this morning as I was traveling south.
First all wheel drive tractor I ever seen was one of those . I never thought the air cooled engine would out last the warranty. Shows what I know that old girl is singing right along
This was Willy Sheffer Case Dealer, it was on route 598 just north of Galion about a mile. He sold lots of Case equipment to the local farmers. He had a good repair business since he fixed any color , lol. They just tore down the buildings this year for new development going in by US 30 and 598 off ramps. The buildings have been sitting empty for 30 years. He sold Duetz , Layland and J I Case. He competed against The Galion Farm Service witch sold International and New Idea, which eventually turned into Burkhart's.
The Case dealer in Galion,Oh used to sell Deutz and Layland. This must have been 1970 , (approx). We used to rent them to help get done planting. Always seemed like good tractors.
Jrbpa 57 You're not talking Burkharts are you? I wasn't around in the 70s, Burkharts is the only local Case IH dealer to me (northern Crawford County). I would think they would be more popular then, the the Duetz machines are few and far between up here.
Great video. Can you do a video and explain pros and cons of air cooled engines on the Deutz. Knew they existed but have never heard anybody speak about them.
tom holmes one thing that I heard was dust is the enemy being air cooled but other than that, they were pretty good. Also I heard they were decent on fuel
I don't think I know enough about the Deutz air cooled engine to tell you the pros and cons. I do know as said below you had to keep them clean of dust inside the cooling fins. They had great torque and good on fuel. Deutz also had some oil cooled engines that I am very familiar with from when I was a service rep for Gehl Company. Gehl skid loader use to use a 3 and 4 cylinder Deutz in some skid loader models. I think the air cooled engines downfall was being air cooled they was no way to control the engine temperature with a thermostat and they could not meet emissions because of this. I was told this so not 100% sure if that part is true
They used a heat exchanger that circulated engine oil through it for heat in the cab of the tractor. It did not work very well and tended to leak engine oil.
The Deutz engines were very good , they have had a good reputation here in Australia. But i still love the real Allis Chalmers.
Deutz Engine is the best on te world!!
Great video Mike! Love the older and unusual equipment.

Love seeing old equipment. Especially the rare stuff.
Thank you! I have always liked this series of tractors. Thanks also for showing it turn around and not cutting those parts out.
Great video Mike, love to see those older tractors still working hard!

I have never seen a deutz allis up hear. Nice to see a video in Minnesota

Joe Kersey cousin had a 5 cylinder Detuz in a tree farmer skidder. I never got to hear it myself but I heard that it certainly sounded pretty
Very cool! I've only seen one at a demo in Michigan back in the early 90s

Thanks for this video showing a quite uncommon tractor!
Love that color

Mike Less this was definitely video worthy Mike. When you ask, it always is anyways. You find things that no one else does

I think at one time I heard that deutz engines, because of German engineering were machined so accurately that they had no gaskets in them
Yeah there's just about no deutz allis on UA-cam period. Well caught Mike
