I remember Si-Finds discussing in a video that he spoke with some friends in the Indian community about the offerings and how the magic happens when the offering is tossed into the Thames so it is perfectly fine to handle and remove them. From a witchy poo standpoint I feel that once you release something and walk away, it's out of your hands and the offering will end up wherever it was meant to go. Your friend Emma is so cute and sweet. What a great pal!

My last comment of this video. You bring us amazingly lovely content about the bits and bobs (British term) from the river. I will always be grateful and amazed by what you find. Your research of your little finds kind of thrill me. I worked for years and years at a thrift store. It was a lot of fun to research the stuff that sometimes came through. Your river finds are so much more exciting. Thank you! ❤️
Nic, please take the non-compostable findings. In a recant study micro plastics (broken down tiny bits of degraded plastic) outnumbered larval fish 7:1, and those larval fish all had micro plastics in the digestive tracts and gills. That, my dear, is a preventable tragedy, please remove the plastics and make more great art like the cormorant.

Thrilled to see another video Nicola , I am sorry about the gold ring , I suspect you knew it was not gold. The pipe was a great find as it is very early . You did research the bottle stopper well , Very inspiring to watch , Thank you very much for all your efforts Nicola [ I found a piece of pottery shard on the beach that was made by Spode , It was from the Rhine collection from 1900 s or thereabouts] . It had a beutiful lake scene in the blue & white tradition. I also found a nice piece of golden Amber floating in on the tide at Margate,. 20 million yrs old possibly from the baltic sea. What a fun video and great to meet Emma! For a bit there I thought the Pipe Queen of the Thames was going to have a pipe less lark but WOW, what great pipes. Before the pipes you found the piece of pottery that had a person cooking something. Just above the cooking pot there is a hand coming down and if it isn't a utensil for eating it looks like a pipe. So perhaps you found three pipes? Great music, great video and beautiful art. An iron gold plated ring. Perhaps not hard to toss it in the Thames as opposed to gold. It may be hard to beat that gold and diamond ring you found but you never know. So Kind Thanks Nicola and now my Sunday is complete. Part of me says leave the religious items and walk on. The other side of me says collect them and place them in the dust bin. Plastics and resin have no place in any of our waterways
Its a spiritual offering which can be removed. So it can be removed after its been there for a few days. Also i don't know why people don't go to a temple to do that instead of leaving them at river. How about leaving something that's organic and can brake down faster, like statue made of wood or paper picture.
Loved your mini pipe, it is amazing! My opinion is, regardless of religious offering,It is fine to take the item out of the mud. Thank you once again for your fantastic video!
With all the millions (?) of pieces that have been larked from the Thames, at one time the shores must have been covered with 'finds' You could probably fill a satchel within ten feet of walking.
There isn't a much better way to start than by finding a gold ring, even if it turned out not to be actual gold. Several interesting finds in this video. The stopper was interesting by itself, but the story behind it made it even more so. Thank you for another interesting video 👍.
Hello from the US, Nicola! I enjoy your show. I do a little metal-detecting & gold panning as a hobby. I also have a passion for finding relics from the past. I wanted to say thank you for respecting the religious offering & leaving it behind. If I find something that was placed there with sentimental intentions, I do the same. Happy hunting, my friend.
Thank you, Nicola. I really enjoyed this video and seeing Wendy, Simon as well as your long time and lovely friend, Emma. I appreciate your research, very interesting. Love the tiny pipe.
At 7:59 to 8:47 when you pick up the bottle with the metal stopper, right next to it is a stone with a white circle within it. The white circle is quartz crystal. These stones with rings of quartz in them are called "Wishing Stones". There are some certain people who would pay a pretty penny for such stones, especially if it's tidied up and smoothed into a nice shape. Edit: And there's another at 12:23
I can picture some guy going over the bridge, pissed, and firing the ring out the car window. Myself, I’d feel better taking it to a jeweler and getting some cash!
As for Everett, I can find the following so far: Richard Everett, Boot maker, 2 Palace rd, Bromley Miss Elizabeth Everett, Dress maker, 152 Trafalgar rd, Greenwich Mrs Eliza Everett, Wardrobe dealer, 1 Cross st, Woolwich

Thank you Erin! yes she is. And yes, that tiny pipe although it didn't look much is so old! I would just love to know who smoked it all those years ago!
The point of most religious offerings is the act of offering in the first place. Since that deed is done as soon as it leaves the person's hands, I would say that it would be a benefit to the environment to remove them as you come across them.
On UA-cam everyone finds their own eclectic mix of channels. This mudlarking channel I find interesting on many levels. Thank you for uploading it. May you always have interesting finds.
Is it allowed to throw those (plastic?) offerings and (forreighn?) seads? Do you let it be, or do you take it with you. In my eyes it's litterering..? LOVE your painting!
Oh -- had to ask -- I see that you are wearing gloves when picking up things in this video, and often you do not. What was the reason for wearing gloves on this outing?
@@nicolawhitemudlark -- Good! I worry about you (and the other mudlarkers too) getting a scratch and getting an infection! As much as the Thames is cleaner than it used to be -- it's not Perrier water! :-) But I definitely picked up on the blue gloves -- I'm used to seeing your bare hands and your dirty (usually) fingernails -- which are a badge of courage for a mudlarker! I love that you dig in the dirt and are not afraid of the mud and muck! Again a sign that your passion is more important than fashion! A rhyme!
@@nicolawhitemudlark perhaps that ring harkens back to " the day that Billy Joe McAllister threw something off the [London] bridge....."? From a famous song over here on this side of the pond, that you might not know, Ode to Billy Joe
I love all your finds!! I beachcomb in Southern California near our Channel Islands. Of course it's completely different than mudlarking The Thames. As for your question about the religious offering finds...I would tie them up and and throw them back in the river. Good mudlarking Nicola!! 🇺🇸🇬🇧

Nicola, you get better looking as the weeks go by.Merry Christmas and thanks for all your videos throughout this past year.
Would the treasure picking be insane if they drained the Thames? Are the shores the best spot?
I’m not sure how easy it would be to ‘drain the Thames’.
@@ClayDress larger rivers were diverted for the gold rush in 1849. I’m obviously not suggesting it, just asking would the treasure hunting be better?
With all the millions (?) of pieces that have been larked from the Thames, at one time the shores must have been covered with 'finds' You could probably fill a satchel within ten feet of walking.
@@dpmakestuff it's cyclical. The more wave action the more is exposed, or rolled over... my guess. There are layers upon layers continually moving
There isn't a much better way to start than by finding a gold ring, even if it turned out not to be actual gold. Several interesting finds in this video. The stopper was interesting by itself, but the story behind it made it even more so. Thank you for another interesting video 👍.
Thank you!
On the pottery frag with the cooking pot, do I see a clay pipe on the top? Love the video! 😘🇨🇦
Hi Stephen. yes well spotted. I saw that afterwards and was thinking, is that a clay pipe?! x
nicola white mudlark - Tideline Art, I've seen them depicted in that bowl shape before even though it is not a shape I've ever seen.
I was watching Si-finds and he said that after the offering was tossed it was ok to remove it. The offering was taken at that point.
Thank you, Nicola. I really enjoyed this video and seeing Wendy, Simon as well as your long time and lovely friend, Emma. I appreciate your research, very interesting. Love the tiny pipe.
Thank you xx
At 7:59 to 8:47 when you pick up the bottle with the metal stopper, right next to it is a stone with a white circle within it. The white circle is quartz crystal. These stones with rings of quartz in them are called "Wishing Stones". There are some certain people who would pay a pretty penny for such stones, especially if it's tidied up and smoothed into a nice shape.
Edit: And there's another at 12:23
Thank you for sharing how interesting. I shall keep my eyes pealed in future! I know of 'whitches stones' but not 'wishing stones'. Enjoy.
Love the artwork at the end!!!!!
that wooden/bone spoon could be a caviar spoon! Great find
Thank you Kathryn x
My French 'Mamie' had some and also called them caviar spoons
Could be, but also seen similar design used as an ice cream scoop, which may be more likely.
Wonderful finds you found. That little pipe was a great find.❤❤❤😮🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😅😊🎉 from Shirley from new Bern, north Carolina USA 🎉🎉🎉take care and stay well.
The ring smacks of a broken heart, especially under a bridge.
I can picture some guy going over the bridge, pissed, and firing the ring out the car window. Myself, I’d feel better taking it to a jeweler and getting some cash!
Great episode ! Something for everyone
As for Everett, I can find the following so far:
Richard Everett, Boot maker, 2 Palace rd, Bromley
Miss Elizabeth Everett, Dress maker, 152 Trafalgar rd, Greenwich
Mrs Eliza Everett, Wardrobe dealer, 1 Cross st, Woolwich
Thank you very much Larry
@@nicolawhitemudlark Also (don't know if it will help), the old Cornwall RD (pre-1912) was changed to Rowan RD and is in Hammersmith. www.maps.thehunthouse.com/Streets/Old_to_New_Abolished_London_Street_Names.htm#C
Nicola - you and your videos are brilliant - thank you for letting me tag along on your adventures
13:15 Is that a piece of plate from the Grand Hotel??
Interested to know some more
i think it is. I need to follow it up some more
What a perfect video! Emma is lovely, and that tiny pipe gave me goosebumps.
I would say ....... you can take them

What a blessing to have a dear friend who treasure you and support your life journey 💜 Congratulations on the wonderful finds ✨
if it's shiny and heavy it's frikkin gold every time. And all the things you miss.
Once again another super Video ,,,best of luck with the quest for items of yesteryear ,,cheers from Australia
Imagine that the person smoking that tiny pipe might have been at a live performance of Shakespeare at the Globe.
I love your videos since I learn so much. And I’m happy you’re wearing gloves. I worry when you don’t.
Is it allowed to throw those (plastic?) offerings and (forreighn?) seads? Do you let it be, or do you take it with you. In my eyes it's litterering..?
LOVE your painting!
Lovely finds Brought back memories, many years ago I lived just off Caledonia Road. 💚
Wonderful finds today, especially the pipe. Emma is lovely so nice to have a life long friend.
Thank you! Yes, Emma is a girl in gold
hello Nicola thank you for the show, as for the offerings I say let them be,stay warm and Merry Christmas.
Thank you very much Eric xx
That reminds me of something I learned in school; Make new friends but keep the old, One is silver and the other is gold. Old friends are best
very true. Thank you x
I love watching you on the foreshore, I get excited when I get to see a video , Thank you
Thank you Catherine! X
Oh -- had to ask -- I see that you are wearing gloves when picking up things in this video, and often you do not. What was the reason for wearing gloves on this outing?
ha ha well spotted! well I cut my hand and so thought it best to wear gloves. xx
A rhyme!
I live down the road from Brierley hill 😯 great finds as usual Nicola, I always enjoy watching your videos xx
Imagine the story that ring could tell? Someone purchased it with intention and there it is in the river. Hmm?
yes, I know. They would never imagine it is now the subject of speculation on a youtube video! x
I would remove the offerings, once offered they belong to no one, the river doesn’t need anymore junk in it
I would always Leave Them!
@@davedruid7427 I would leave the offering. An offer to the river gods is final.
Would be better if people did not chuck stuff in the river in the first place. ”Religious offering” is a poor excuse nowadays, especially when it is plastic junk they are using.
So nice this one, I enjoy all your videos and energy Dear Nicola. Love from Buenos Aires!💛🙏🏼
