Before CNC there was skilled labor. I would think the last step would be case hardening. Very creative with the indexing head. Necessity is the mother of invention. Enjoyed it.
Gue belajar banyak nonton videomu, makasih ya udah share ilmunya!🤩🙋♂😁
My friend, in the nineties did the same. It will be a little easier if you make a couple of hexagons ground into a cone. The first pass with an acute angle, the second with an obtuse angle.
Take good care of your lathe and she will take good care of you.....Very Well Done!!! : ) I can imagine hearing the complaints from a group of spoiled tool makers assigned to make that socket using your tools and techniques.
did the same in the 80's only for non standard bolts - but nobody does like this anymore in the 21st century its not accurate neither has the hardness or strength to withstand high torque, its is costlier less accurate and more time spent.
As an Australian retired toolmaker good job done . However guys wear decent footwear and beware of lathes I witnessed a guy having his left arm torn off from his shoulder plus his left ear ripped off . Just be very cautious they are unforgiving and under estimated as killer machines .
There's a gory video on the Internet of a Russian guy killed by a lathe. His coat sleeve got caught and his whole body got pulled in and shredded. Absolutely gruesome.
@@davidkim4083 I saw the video...horrible death for the poor guy. It reminded me of an incident years ago in school. A guy had a scarf around his neck while operating a lathe. He knew better and everyone was clearly instructed about the safety and what NOT to do. Anyway, the damned thing got caught in the spindle while it very fortunately ran low RPM. The guy next to the idiot was aware of the situation and immediately hammered the emergency stop. The idiot returned to school after a few days off with a very clear strangulation mark around his neck. It was a while before he got near a lathe again and he was more than lucky nothing bad happened to him. Machinery in a pro workshop can kill careless operators!
@@georgeh9967 You severely underestimate the availability of tools (possibly tenth-hand used, but nonetheless there to be had) even in low-tech looking places. Ca Lem has a good video on this - you just shop at the tool flea market instead of a hardware store, and you buy what you can find, not necessarily what you came for. But make no mistake, in a place where a socket wrench truly is unobtanium, there are no functioning lathes.
@@AttilaAsztalos not in a position to walk to the corner hardware store.means. he is far from store /town. maybe rural. it is a saying. and in no way has or means anything about the tools he may have. he did use a lathe and various tools. and in fact has more than i have.
Not sure why it made me smile but all that intricate lathe work and then he bangs a bloody great bolt to make the hex. Brilliant.
He, he...same thought here. All that lathe work and then BAM! He bashes a bolt into the damned thing.

There are easier ways to make a socket.

Basic, old school. That's how things was done before CNC, hydro-jets and order catalogs.

Fantastico!
Fascinating stuff, I always wanted to see how SnapOn Tools were made.
Looks like some nice rain starting up.
Very nicely done 🇵🇰🇵🇰
Great work

Pretty sure , the cost of electricity, and oxy/ acetelyne used, was more than what a nice, new impact socket costs.But.. gotta have fun.
