KTM should have just stuck with their bread and butter - 690cc and down dirt bikes and dual sports. Our local KTM dealer had to go out of business about 5 years ago because KTM insisted on their stocking all sorts of brutally expensive, extra-large displacement adventure and road bikes that he couldn't sell nor afford to keep.

They are the largest Bike company and will recover. Chevy, Dodge, Harley Davidson etc did this and still around. All good. Too bad Japanese doesn’t have the variety and technology as KTM. If Japanese would make more modern 2 strokes and a go between a 450 and 250 in 4 strokes we wouldn’t need KTM.

They actually do but they only sell those to the European markets. Brand called Fanatic is based on the YZ250 has a 300cc electronic power valve and fuel injected engine with an electric start and it's the #1 selling brand in 2024 far as Europe goes. Yamaha would not let them sell they bike in the US market...

It's a shame to see all the bashing and happiness they are having problems. Ktm has been great to me, 2011 300 xc 1150 hours,18000 miles it's been perfect. Only a few pistons. Bullet proof. 2018 450exc I use as a dual sport....been great! I think they'll get their act together....they didn't handle the cam problem like they should've. They will learn from that!!! personally i think it happened because KTM charges way too much for their bikes, i ride KTM and im happy with that bike but i ride 2014 model which is like 4000$ on market. SXF 250 2024 is 13000 $ compared to YZF 250 2024 which is 10000 $, and don't even get me started on RMZ prices. So basically with these 3000$ you can buy full exhaust system, get suspension setting etc. So in price of a stock ktm you can get tuned yzf. 13000$ is way too much for a stock bike. Best thing that KTM can do to get back on market is to lower their prices because at least in poland, every year KTM rises their prices by ~750$, combine that with avg salary of 1350$ then it's almost impossible to buy a new bike (unless you take a loan)

A tour of the USA facility was impressive however it was obvious that there was an extravagance in the use of vast areas of empty space and even more areas devoted to the race department with a unimaginable amount of money spent on that department. Add to that the plan for selling premium brands (MV) at unheard of retail prices for motorcycles and you would need a far larger customer base to support such an atmosphere of opulence. I am reminded of the once great BSA empire who poured vast sums into racing and on very costly furnishings for their Duarte offices while bleeding huge sums. Top it off with the quality issues at BSA (and their other brand Triumph) and now reported with new KTM's and the saying is true "history doesn't repeat but often they rhyme"

Ive been on a Honda since the eighties. With the minor exception of my Banshee phase. I still have my twenty year old XR650R and absolutely love it. Last spring I picked up my first EXC with 40 very gentle hours on it. I wasn't too impressed, not to the point where I understood the KTM hype. When you go in the backwoods anymore all you see is KTM and GasGas, maybe a Husqvarna or two but at the end of the day its all KTM. The market is flooded with them. If KTM parts start getting to be hard to get a hold of the bikes will be worthless. The parts will be where the value is.
Looks like those Japanese guys are gonna be back in the Dual Sport category again. Which is good a good thing. Maybe they'll bring back the XR! If not my next bike will be a CRF or Africa Twin. They should really bring back the 650R!

I was in the market for a 2024 Husqvarna401 Vitpillen and now I’m a little bit reductant, I’m not sure whether or not it’s going to stay in KTM‘s portfolio🤷🏻‍♂️. Also, it’s not a matter of if they’re gonna continue to make parts for the bike I like… But it’s more of a specific understanding of contractual obligations in terms of manufacturing parts. In other words, I wanna know whether they’re gonna make parts if they discontinue the bike, for five years, seven years, 10 years, etc. too much uncertainty right now.

Not so bad a comment, some additional information. First they are not declaring bankruptcy but payment freeze for the next three months. That give them 3 months to negotiate with their creditors. Second, their biggest problem was to continue produce motorbikes while their sales were plunging 30% down this during one year. Their second problem was they lost most of their gross profit because they sold their bikes with huge discounts. Their gross profit on a first half basis plunged from 361 M euros to only 67 M euros, when your operating expenses are close to 300 M euros the losses are massive,

They have not files for bankruptsy. If the economy where such a crisis, KTM would shed its sub brands like Husqvarna and Gasgas. They would stop the production of bicycles also. If they try to sell these brands, then i would be worried. What is happening now is a restructuring to be more cost efficient. “The latest news from Pierer Mobility suggested the worst, and the truth is that it is now official that the KTM AG division of the motorcycle manufacturer will file for bankruptcy in an attempt to save the brand, and surely the entire group. It is very sad for all motorcycle lovers to see legendary brands like KTM failing.
Honestly, it is difficult to know how this situation has come about, since we are talking about the fact that it is still one of the most important motorcycle manufacturers worldwide. I have my personal opinion on it but with so many factors that we do not know, it is difficult to give a clear opinion.
The restructuring that they have to do will not affect the MotoGP program, so Pedro Acosta, Brad Binder, Maverick Viñales and Enea Bastianini have confirmed their continuity in the premier class. They have not mentioned anything about the Moto2 and Moto3 teams that will surely continue in 2025.”

KTM does not make cars, and generators, or lawn mowers, just bikes in a over saturated market. I doubt any major dirt bike brand today is making a profit, and KTM has overextended in a pretty bad time of global free enterprise decline. I don't know why anybody with a brain would try to bail them out right now, bad investment. Getting government help is the worst thing to do for free enterprise. Then it takes over what we make and buy eventually, to its interest, not ours, and ends up expensive and dysfunctional.
They will go out of business. Somebody has to with this economic climate. Their market share will help the other companies,-------------------but this ain't over.

Do some research before sounding dumb for the world to see. All the dirtbikes are still made in Austria. The only bikes being built in china are the 790 superduke or whatever it is. None of the dirtbikes at all are made in china. So find another reason to hate on ktm. Actually how about you just post the real reason you hate them. It’s because you can’t afford one and are jealous of the people who can. It’s a fact that people hate on things or people that they can’t have or do or are better than them or what they have.
