The one theory I've always had was that the king boo from the main line games and the Luigi's mansion is the same king boo but the events in the main line games take place before the events in Luigi's mansion. The reason why I think this is because of a few key details I barely seen people bring up like in the DS remake of Mario 64, the Big boo boss was changed to be king boo even though Mario 64 takes place before Luigi's mansion, the main line king boo shares some similar design details to the one Bowser jr. created in super Mario sunshine, a big boo with blue eyes and a long red/pink tongue wearing a gold crown with diamond shaped tipped prongs and real diamonds lining the base (It's the same design details but from a child's perspective) and that in the first Luigi's mansion game, he talks about how Mario caused him a lot of trouble in the past yet it's his first appearance in the Mario franchise. My theory is that King boo started out as a mischief making ally of Bowser who had a deep love and care for his boos but no intention of taking over the mushroom kingdom, instead he just wants to cause mischief for the inhabitants. But over time Mario started to prove himself to be more of a threat than king boo initially than he thought he was and so started to take his role as king more seriously and gain stronger powers to help his boos. In his pursuit for power (and eventually revenge), he came across the purple gem which made him incredibly powerful but slowly drains his sanity, leading to Bowser to cut ties to him. This is probably 100% wrong and there may be enough holes in this to support a Monty mole civilisation but it was just my interpretation.
Tbf, I’m pretty sure the movie is arguably a separate timeline from the genre, of which there seem to be multiple timelines amongst them as well (for example, some versions in the game like the movie have him from nyc, while others have him raised by yoshi, or even more stark, the normal RPG, Paper Mario, and in some cases 8/16-bit vs 3D versions)
0:47, I mean hey that's what I always assumed, ever since I played Dark Moon, I assumed he looked as he did because of the Dark Moon piece in his crown
I always thought that King Boo was kinda like a Vegito/Gogeta sort of thing he's a fusion of all nearby boos and he's his own stand alone boo who isn't just 1 boo in particular (like Goku and Vegeta are separate saiyans from their fusions) I also thought the reason for his crowns jewel color to turn that color was because he went skinny dipping in the light of the Dark Moon
King Boo returning probably would not be shocking. He returned in Double Dash, Super Sluggers, and Mario Kart Wii. Then he came back in Dark Moon and got captured and then returned in Mario Kart 8 and 8 DX then he would return Luigi's Mansion 3 and then finally Super Mario Bros. Wonder is his most recent appearance. He also did make minor appearances in other games. Basically King Boo is the same one in almost every game he appears except Sunshine since I am positive that is a fake one Bowser Jr. made.
The only time King Boo doesn’t wear his crown is when Luigi takes the crown and jewel at the end of Luigi’s Mansion, but if your theory about different Boos, different King Boos is correct. Because in Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, King Boo remembers that King Boo and Luigi’s last meeting, so they have to be the same King Boo right? But then again in Luigi’s Mansion 3, after Hellen Gravely frees him, he remembers everything that happened before. We know this because just before his fight he reference his Luigi’s Mansion & Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon fight. “No more carefully laid plans, no more tricks” so this would mean that all the Luigi’s Mansion King Boos are all the same? Right? Also I agree with you that most likely the Mario series King Boo are different Boos. Also what are your thoughts on if Hellen Gravely will continue on in the Luigi’s Mansion series.
Idk. I just assumed that Boolossus from the first two Luigi’s Mansion games was like some sort prince sometimes calls himself the king, not to mention that Kings and Queens are also depicted with more detailed crowns than their offspring. That would explain why the King Boo in the main series sometimes called Big Boo. After all, Boolosus was referred to by his original name in the Japanese version Dark Moon while the international version simply calls him Big Boo. And before anyone corrects me; I know that Boolosus is technically in Luigi’s Mansion 3, (I just don’t like the Scarescraper mode in the game since it’s not meant to be played alone, despite the fact that playing alone is technically an option). I’m also aware that he’s technically made up of multiple boos but he kinda speaks as if he’s a single person, implying that one of might have some kind of control over the others. I’d like to apologize in advance if I spelled his name wrong.
The King boo from Luigi mansion is the big boo from Mario world and Mario 64 he’s also the one who might be loyal to bowser not just that but in Luigi mansion bowser is canonically dead and king boo was trying to bring him back to life.
I left my interpretation on the previous video so I won't repeat myself over here XD But I still stand by my thoughts on the gem being what alters KB's appearance and that he's the same character from LM to all his appearances in Mario games (not Sunshine, that was a fake made by Bowser Jr.)
maybe the different king boos are actual kings and the most recent one is the most recent elected king boo and every king boo has it's own crown so maybe the king boo's are in the crowns so if a boo wears the crown they become the king boo with that crown kinda like a genie
You did forget to mention the Mad Boos in Super Princess Peach. They have the similar dark shade under their eyes like King Boo in Luigi’s Mansion. Maybe King Boo is mad with power in those games which is why his form is like that in the game
The crown is a power up to a boo, like a mushroom which makes them stronger. So maybe there’s multiple crowns that are just everywhere so this pretty normal and Bowser used a cat bell before so if he can use it so can the boos. And maybe all the others king like king goomba, king bob omb, king whomp, king bill and king bully. They could also be powered by crowns.
To add a detail to this theory, Regular crown king boo can't escape Luigi's vacuum, In Luigi's mansion 2 Luigi tried to suck him up but fails two times and both times king boo keeps the crown but when he gets sucked up and looses his crown he's unable to leave Luigi's vacuum and this kinda tells me king boo's normal form is unable to escape thus kinda furthering the point that king boo is stronger with the gem. Also to add a weird detail, I desticticly remember when i was younger in the cold mansion level of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon there was a specific section where there were red glowing crystal gems that really resembled the Luigi's Mansion 1 gem that the original king boo wore, Which is kinda interesting. The red gem crystal things seem to glow. If you notice in the final battle of dark moon king boo talks about his new gem on his crown, Earlier in the game we see king boo in the ice mansion stage make an appearance flying by, Do these have any correlation? I don't know. Maybe he got his crown from that place.
What about the Version of King Boo in the Super Mario Bros. Movie during the Wedding Ceremony?,maybe he gets a bigger role in the Sequel, but going off the Yoshi egg scene after the end credits,I Can see the story surrounding yoshi island in the successor of the Nintendo-Illumination 3D animated film
One theory I’ve always had for King Boo is that the King Boo from the Luigi’s Mansion series is the real king boo, and the reason why I think this is because during the events of Super Mario 64 and 64 DS, We see King Boo helping Bowser, alongside some of the other species’ kings, but after Bowsers defeat, I think King Boo turned against him and abandoned his alliance with Bowser, whereas the other kings stayed loyal to him. The reason why I believe King Boo abandoned his alliance with Bowser is because he viewed him as weak after his defeat, so he left in search of new power or something along those lines. And because of his like abandonment of his Allience with Bowser, Bowser knew that to keep control of the Boos, they need a King, and that’s why there’s different version of King Boo, because Bowser found a way to create other King Boos who would stay loyal to him, and would control the Boos. Going back to why King Boo left in search of power, I believe this is the reason because in the first Luigi’s Mansion game we see King Boo but this time his eyes are a lot darker and he has a bright red gem in his crown, and I believe that he found the gemstone which greatly improved his magic and overall power. Now in the second and third Luigi’s Mansion the gemstone in his crown is now a purple colour. And it was hinted at that in Luigi’s Mansion 2 the reason why his gemstone was purple was because it was a shard of the Dark Moon after he destroyed it, causing the ghosts of ever shade valley to go haywire and essentially do what he wants, and I think it’s because he had a piece of the dark moon which was like a way to force the ghosts to do what he wants. What still confuses me is after Luigi’s mansion 2, King Boo loses the gemstone as it’s used with the other pieces to reassemble the Dark Moon, but yet in Luigi’s Mansion 3 he has the same purple gemstone in his crown, and what I want to know is how does he have the purple gemstone, did he destroy the dark moon again? But even if he did, the Dark Moon only affected the Ghosts of Evershade Valley, its influence couldn’t go any further than there, and we know the Hotel is in a completely different location. So my honest belief is there is somewhere in the Mario Universe where the gemstones are forged or found and that’s how he always has one in his crown, OR since we know King Boo is the ruler of the Boos and of the spirit world, hence the paranormal portal in Luigi’s Mansion 2, perhaps there’s a dimension outside the normal one, perhaps somewhere in the spirit world, where he gets the gemstones. Or perhaps the gemstones themselves are concentrated spiritual energy.
Or a more like simple theory is that there are gemstones in the spirit world that he can attain, and each gemstone has a different level of power, hence why in the first Luigi’s mansion it’s red, and the other 2 Luigi’s mansion it’s purple.
Maybe since you said the copies had two teeth and so did Manson 1 king boo what if in the first Luigis mansion? King boo was just one of those coffees because he’s not as powerful and in the second one he’s just there he didn’t have to escape or anything what do you think
I do believe it is one king boo an I don’t think the super Mario sunshine one counts because that was made by bowser jr and his paintbrush but I have a theroy that the crystal is some kind of telepathic Cristal that was shoved onto king boos crown making it bent and the gems falling out and that is my theory on why king boo looks different in the mainline and Luigi’s mansion games
❗ Maby they are all brothers. the luigis mansion one is the scary and bad one because his only goal in life is to trap mario and friends in paintings. The normal one is the calm one. In many games he doesnt wanna kill you like mario wonder. Mario Kart and mario party. And in some he does wanna kill you. So he is killing you while having some fun with you. And lastly the Super Mario Sunshine one is just having some fun in the casino while mario tries to kill him. ❗OR❗ there still brothers but there father gave them the task to kill mario and friends and luigis mansion version took it serious and the normal one took it half serious. and the Sunshine one just. Doesnt care and doesnt listen. ❗
There is only one only one only one King boo the wonder effect made the one turn into a king by putting the crown one but doy you notice how the one in Luigi's mansion has the same voice as the one in Mario party/ and mario kart because when the crystal was put on him he turned savage and the luigi's mansion boos skin was a darker tone greyish but his skin is straight white and about the eyes the eyes will problably go back to normal why can't we have the Luigi's mansion king boo because its the same one !
Isn’t the king boo in Mario sunshine a fake? Almost every boss is created by bowser junior’s brush. Petey turns into mud on death. Wiggler turns into sand on death. Gooper blooper disappearing when he touches water in two instances like ink that has not dried. The manta storm is made from the electric goop.

KING BOO IS MY MAIN 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
0:47, I mean hey that's what I always assumed, ever since I played Dark Moon, I assumed he looked as he did because of the Dark Moon piece in his crown
I agree with this theory
Nobody:
Pokéfans: I FOUND BOO’S EVOLUTION STONE
I believe the boos in sunshine come from the paintbrush. Other than that, I like this idea.
Lore of The King Boo Lore Just Got Even DEEPER! Momentum 100
So my theory of hat the crown is the reason king boo is different has finally been proven
Nin10doland is now A Game Theorist :)
Like I said before in this comment maybe the crystal corrupted the normal king boo and made him into Luigi’s Mansion king boo
Not sure if this matters too much, but in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate you can upgrade a regular Boo spirit into King Boo.
The King boo from Luigi mansion is the big boo from Mario world and Mario 64 he’s also the one who might be loyal to bowser not just that but in Luigi mansion bowser is canonically dead and king boo was trying to bring him back to life.
I am so glad I’m not the only person who thinks that. Thank you
Well Bowser was probably dead for a brief time before getting revived for Super Mario Sunshine.
king boo take over bowser,s body to keep him ailve 1:26
I don’t know why, but the theme song felt like it got touched up and looks smoother
If the crown changed King Boo's appearance then why would Boolossus have a similar design with no crown?
I left my interpretation on the previous video so I won't repeat myself over here XD But I still stand by my thoughts on the gem being what alters KB's appearance and that he's the same character from LM to all his appearances in Mario games (not Sunshine, that was a fake made by Bowser Jr.)
i think it’s just the wonder event that made him king boo when the wonder events end he gets defeated he only is king boo during the wonder effect
Sooo...King Boo is a _Dragon Quest_ King Slime. Gotcha.
maybe the different king boos are actual kings and the most recent one is the most recent elected king boo and every king boo has it's own crown so maybe the king boo's are in the crowns so if a boo wears the crown they become the king boo with that crown kinda like a genie
You did forget to mention the Mad Boos in Super Princess Peach. They have the similar dark shade under their eyes like King Boo in Luigi’s Mansion. Maybe King Boo is mad with power in those games which is why his form is like that in the game
The crown 👑 thing makes the most sense.
Yes these details are very obscure.
But they could unravel lore.
The gem Is the dark moon
He also get bigger every new game
Bro when I watched it I saw in real time the name change
This is a very good theory. Who knows, maybe it is true. Or Nintendo has their own explanation.
Getting massive ice king vibes
hc that Sunshine boos and their king are made by Jr, as a caricature of real King Boo and thr boos
If King Boo is just a Boo that transformed with a powerful crown so what about King Goomba, King Bob-omb or King Lakitu?
I wonder what would happen if a peepa were to have that crown?
What has happened to your intro ?
The manta storm is made from the electric goop.
this confirmes boo-etee
The fake king boo crown in lm3 boss fight is darker and he only has 2 teeth
Mmm
