Elvis was fascinating and lead a fascinating life. There would be no Beatles, Elton John, and Freddy Mercury without Elvis. John Lennon said that there would have been no Beatles without Elvis and that he would still be in Liverpool. Elvis opened the door for all of them. I was here back in the 1950's, the excitement, the energy, the spirit and soul of Elvis is captured in this trailer. Elvis changed everything, even our culture, and he changed music forever.

Elvis missed the musical fire he sparked by being in the movies. By the time the Beatles came to his house to play Elvis didn't truly understand the new music. Elvis like Buddy Holly before him had become a crooner not the rock n roller of his youth. I blame the 1950's for crushing Elvis.

It’s interesting that you say that everyone has forgotten him. I don’t know if it’s a British thing but I don’t feel like that’s the same here. There’s constantly albums and re-releases of stuff, concerts people attend here about Elvis. He represents Americana to the highest degree. I would go far as to say when we think America, Elvis is one of the first thing we think of.

    Phenomenal trailer!
Comparing this one to the idea of Bohemian Rhapsody and Rocket Man is interesting.
The truth is that as big as Freddie Mercury and Elton John were - Elvis is in an entirely different league.
There was Elvis - then everybody else.
Perhaps only The Beatles were the only other musical act in history that were ever on the level he was at.
So this is a very tall order - making a film biopic of quality - and one that’s worthy of the lofty status of Elvis.
But boy - this Trailer really does look like they may have actually done it!
Come June - something tells me there will suddenly be a whole lot of new Elvis fans around.
And that Austin Butler is about to become a big star….

CORRECT. Proof of that is in the 12 plus years since Jackson passed. His estate has made more money than Elvis's estate has made in the 45 years since he passed.
Jacksons impact in the 1980s with essentially just 3 albums.
      OFF THE WALL

I'm a lifelong Elvis fan since I was about 6 going on 40+ years. This is the only movie about Elvis that I have ever really been excited for. Knowing how many years Baz researched Elvis even before the movie was approved, and then after it was ok'd he and his wife (a production designer) moved to Memphis for 18 months whereby Graceland gave them a room in the "barn" to work out of and given access to any artifact they desired to study. They would take photos and notes on all things they studied. So when I was younger I would look at pics of Elvis in concerts during the 50's and on shows like Ed Sullivan, and would always notice his drummers bass drum head, and never knew what the image was that was on it. Was it a prehistoric animal, a tear of the drum head, or maybe a cowskin. Still don't know, but when I was watching the trailer I almost became emotional when I saw that the bass drum head had been recreated almost to perfection. Why was this so moving to me? First, I think because 99.99% of people would not have cared or noticed anything about the drums, so when Baz CARED enough to recreate it, I was moved for some reason. Also probably because I know that Hollywood had resented Elvis, or some of us think, because he did cookie cutter feel good movies that took a few weeks to make and didn't cost much to produce but due to his draw people went to see those movies for almost 10 years. He was getting 1 million dollars a movie and making 3 movies a year, and was making so much more money than any other actor by far, so Hollywood grew to resent him possibly. So when he died, almost every movie on the big screen about Elvis has been a parody of some part of his life or image, and a joke, or making a joke of Elvis, and had no care or concern about the person, and only were concerned in exploiting his image for whatever their purposes were. So knowing Baz had researched for so many years, and then I saw all the care and attention to details, and when contrasted to all the junk that has come out before, it really moved me. I belong to a lot of Elvis Facebook groups and everyone is very excited to finally have the movie Elvis has deserved and the fans have waited for.

They no longer say that but I never thought people were starting to forget Elvis. For me, when he said about being forgotten I thought - "your Elvis, people won't forget you" - but I guess Grace's reaction tells me how such a megastar in his time will eventually fade with each passing generation.

That made me tear up. I’m an Assistant at one of the major studios here in Burbank and that whole “I don’t want to be forgotten” mindset is something you see all the time. People talk about celebrities and think they have it made. They think they’re rich, good looking and people love them. But I’ve seen it first hand. 99% of these actors and celebrities don’t care about any of that. Most, if not all of them only want one thing. And that’s to leave a legacy. Something that will make sure they won’t be forgotten…
