When I was a kid I would dress in camouflage and and go hunting fish or sight fishing. 😆 if bass or bream were spawning I would belly crawl and lay and watch them before I caught them..
I know the feeling of catching the bait by yourself being a chore. It sure does feel that way. Thankfully my 4 year old daughter loves to cath the bait with me so it kind of helps specially when she can cast set the hook and reel in by herself. Keep up the great videos Spencer. My daughter and i enjoy watching them!
My most FAVORITE BAIT!! Fiesty ole' bullhead!! Can catch them in about ANY hole of water round here and it's GAME OVER most the time when they're dancing round flattie territory...ALTHOUGH I will have to say that my PB fell for a largemouth about 1 1/2 lber...but to tell you the truth...ANYTHING LIVELY WILL DO! but it MUST DANCE 🕺
The tilted road walk up to the unknown was very Kubrick in "the shining". Nice. Also, pink, Floyd's The wall film....double homage not easy to do Lebowski
I love war mouth bass and 4-6 inch largemouth bass. For flathead bait. Another 🐐 video. You can be the Bill Dance of UTube Flatheads. I'll keep watching.
Bluegill beat down..... another Spencer quote 😜. Green sunfish are fantastic bait for brush piles especially. We can't use any bigger than nine inch bullhead down here. Sucks. We used to use two pounders. Half pound green sunfish are good too. Great vid and keep your powder dry and your pantry stocked young man 💪😎🙏
"Blue gill beat down" lol 😆 Good stuff! 👍 Pretty much sums it up when catching bait with my 12 year old. Usually he's catching them all or I am. How do you catch your bullheads?
Heck yea, having bait secured is such a nice feeling! Hope all of them turn into 50+ pounders! Good luck, hope you catch a giant! Also, a topic for a podcast, I dont know how popular it'll be since we're adults - but I know I still get a little creeped out by myself at night when I'm fishing. Have any of yall experienced weird things at night when fishing that got your hair a standing up on the back of your neck or some goosebumps going?
Oh for sure. I was camping out one night and had a couple of Bobcats fighting a few hundred yards away....even knowing what it was still got the hairs on end!
always wanna see more. havent had much luck on the catfish myself. plenty of bluegill and sunfish though. crappie seem to have hid back down deep around here as well
I have a similar bait tank as yours but it's a 150 gallon glass aquarium. I have about 15 bullheads most 5-7 inches but 3 of them are about 10 inches. And about 12-15, 3 to 5 inch green sunfish. I use bring 3 or 4 of each when I go fishing on my 2 Rods bankfishin. Mostly use the sunfish as cutt bait
When I was a kid every pond here in N.E. Oklahoma was full of bullheads, we called them " mudcats" now they're nowhere to be found. Some folks say when the ranchers started fertilizing hay meadows that the runoff settled in the ponds and killed them off but idk?
I'm going flathead fishing for the first time Saturday!!! Sooooo excited I'm goin fishing for bullheads and greenies also good luck tight lines my friend 💪🏾♿🎣
I had a couple of different ponds in Ohio that was loaded with green sunfish, but one of the ponds had a lot, lot a lot of tiny green sunfish in it, so I started utilizing them, I'd put a rubber band around the top of the shank of the hook, just under the eye a little bit, and then put like 3 or 4 of those small green sunfish on the hook, alive, just hook them under the dorsal and put them right next to each other, man you talk about putting off a lot of commotion in the water and action, geez, the first time I tried that I caught a 32 lb flathead and then about everytime after that I caught at least one in the 30's, and those work very good under a float! you've heard of the double whammy, well that was like the triple and quadruple whammies! haha! Just shows to go you don't have to have big bait sometimes. oh that rubber band is to keep those green sunfish from going up your hook further or over your eye, and if you use 3, 4 ,5 small one's, I'd put another rubber band on the hook after the last green sunfish and below the barb, to keep them from going over the barb!
There was a mountain lion caught on a security camera one block from where my grandparents live in Des Moines, and there are a lot of sightings down on the Bill Riley bike trail as well.
Hey Spencer. Really enjoyed watching you guys catch baitfish. Showed my wife and she said "NO" eat those big perch. I admit some of those perch looked mighty tasty😅. Great video
Saw you on the river two weekends ago now. My buddy and I were in a small Lund. You saved two tubers floating down river well you at least took them back up river. You ended up staying up river only 50 yards or so from us!! We got three channel cats two of them on snoopy! I actually saw you today as well you were heading to the boat ramp and we’re in a turning lane when I was hanging out the window acting like I was casting a pole towards you 😂😂 but best of luck fishing!! Hope to see you again to chitchat and maybe set up a guide trip
I don't bother with worms for greenies, just small soft plastics like Mr Crappie or Bobby Garland. Or heck, small inline spinners or micro crankbaits work great for them. You'll still catch them about every cast with those.
Hey man try takeing all off your line but your hook no jig head just a number 6 hook and bait .. it works so much better than with the big splash the bobber and the rest of the stuff make
Do y’all have the river chubs, looks just like a regular chub just has black dots all over. Them and the softy’s, your greenie’s lol I’m with ya, only one choice green sunfish any day of the week!!! The river chubs are stout, durable and work it all night. I wade and get below shallow riffle’s in medium water currents.
@@RiverCertified I try and get a dozen around 5 to 8”s long and we have some ledges below me here, daytime and float them 13’ by huge ass river boulders. We do that as a fun day while wading, biggest though around 25ish. This is a couple mile strip of just riffles every 30 yards and average in the deepest is 8’. Killer early smallmouth lol yeah but who’s going smh only part I know that’s like this so it good fishing. Fun nighttime bite on channels, cut bait in 2’ of water 10 to 15 pound fish is fun lol we even use wooden pill boat here. Get drunk and pole in the dark …. We enjoy

I just went to my greenie honey hole. Unfortunately the house is up for sale so once it sells I may have to find a new spot. Just walked away with 16 good ones.
I always enjoy watching a relaxing bait fishing video. There's a spot 5 min away from my parents' house where you can catch enough perfect bait-sized sunfish, black bullheads, and creek chubs to fill a cooler. Too bad I don't flathead fish! Speaking of mountain lions... I used to be spooked by them in NE Kansas...but then I hit a deer with my car. Now I welcome them! Although you should hear the rumors about the hill kitties from the locals, I bet they sound a lot like stories from you Iowegians. But unlike the "catfish the size of Volkswagens under the dam", at least there's photographic proof of the lions here!
I think you would like my green sunfish spot I catch 1/2 pounders all the time! Those might make good bait... but great video man keep up the great work! I also like a wacky rigged senko around heavy shallow structure for the big green sunfish!
Sometimes the bait fishing is "almost" as much fun as fishing the cats. Lol. Nice day on the ponds. I don't think we have a lot of bullheads here in North Carolina. I have caught a few, very small, in tiny creeks here. Mostly seems to be bluegill, shellcrackers and warmouth. And of course, shad. At least I haven't found many cat anglers that use bullheads. Regional speciality, I guess. Keep posting, I'll keep watching. Good on ya, Spencer!
I just nabbed a couple live bluegill to try my hand at blue cats. Unfortunately I don't have the tank you do so they are waiting in my bathtub until it's time to go out lol
Try using a bobby garland itty bit swimr black/white/glitter on a 1/64oz jig. Bluegill and greensunfish tear them up. Even caught bass and catfish on them

I still gave you a Like Spencer even though you seem to have a thing for my Green sunfish too. Make awesome Naturals for a 55gal. Things will topwater demolish those big black crickets and a lil frog once(not sure why I did that). If the were needed to catch Steelhead would I do it? Most likely not. But in that case they don't really ever see each other. I'd love to have you put me on a 50lb Flathead but you'd have to use shad or something. Savannah not Sahara btw. And Bluegill are Sunfish, kinda the poster boys for Centrarchidae with a Bass.
Recently started watching your videos and i really enjoy them. I was wondering if you have any tips or tricks on getting rid of the bugs when night fishing? Looks like there's going to be a bunch of flat head videos coming soon brother, really looking forward to it

Why green sunfish over bullheads?? Do they just dangle better :)

Thoughts about how the Cubs are doing this year? Or today's 8th inning 5 run comeback just to drop it in the 10th
