I grew up with Beardies, always considered them a part of my family because they are so human in nature. They communicate so well with people. I lost my Beardie called Boo a few months ago and I am still grieving her loss deeply, because she was more than a child to me , a companion beyond anything else I could have ever imagined with a dog or another person. Bearded collies are so so so special.
Had a puppy many years ago. Sadly had to give him up due to moving abroad. A couple with a small sheep farm took him and he lived a long and happy life as a sheep herder! Amazing kind beautiful fun and lovely dog! Will always have a special place in my heart!
A couple years ago, I rescued a petite little 'Beardie Mix', from Doggie Jail. Long Story; short, she brought puppies, and we ended up keeping all of them, Mom, and all seven of her pups. Now her pups are 2yrs old, and I can't say what ONE THING I like most about them.... They're beautiful, fluffy, bouncy, goofy fur-missiles with dreamy Soulful eyes. They love to play 'Dominate the Ball', 'Get the Dot', and 'SNIFF!'. I have had many a mix breed, rescue dog, as well as some very well bred Dobermans, German Shepherds, Labs, Border Collies, Aussies & Heelers, but NONE as smart as these guys when it comes to Search/ Find/ Identify/ Rescue. Eleven Dogs in my house, and I am crazy about ALL of them, ESPECIALLY these silly Beardies.

I work in a rescue kennel and have fallen for a bearded collie called Rexi. So much so that I am hoping to adopt him. He is sweet, sensitive, fun loving and gentle. What a gorgeous breed. Not for the unsteady on their feet however, as he does love to bound up and jump, but still very gentle and has manners. I think he would require a lot of exercise so don't have one of these breeds if you don't have at least 2 hours a day to walk in open spaces, where they can feel free and have fun. I do not believe this is a town dog, but more for the countryside. However, it would be interesting to know if anyone has one of these and lives in a city.
You are great for working in kennel and helping dogs! And agree, Beardies are excellent, but quite active dog. Not for everyone, but they can be excellent companions 👍
Ohhhhh yesssss! We have a beardie border collie mix but he's a typical beardie through and through, he will 'talk back' and grizzle if he feels like he's unjustly getting told off or if someone is having an argument with one of his favourite people (thankfully I'm one of them) he will walk inbetween you and start telling the other person off, he also whines and 'stomps' his paws if I take too long to throw the ball 😅
I read about their bark and this is part of their heritage isn't it. However, I also read it can become an issue if they don't get enough exercise. I love them. Beautiful breed.
I've just got this dog from our local pound and he's absolutely typical of a beardie. However we were told he was probably a bearded cross. I can't see what he could be crossed with though.
He could possibly be crossed with a border collie! I have a bearded bordie collie but he looks just like a regular beardie except he has a wave/curl in his coat instead of it being pin straight like the others I see
