Just to add to the Classics Catalog : There are currently 22 PS1 Games , I think you missed one most probably because it's not listed in the classics section. 14 PSP titles 24 PS2 games ( included as part of the PS2 On PS4 Program) There are also an additional 24 PS2 games that are not included in Premium/Deluxe for a total of 48 PS2 Games . So there are total of 86 titles across PS1,PS2 and PSP so far .
One thing SONY did was that, if you wanted to be able to use the 25% discount for yearly subscriptions, if you wanted to go back from Premium (like I did) to Extra, you couldn't take advantage of the 25% anymore, because it was for existing users, meaning if I cancelled Premium, I wouldn't be eligible for the 25% discount, so of course it was cheaper to get Premium at 89.99 than 90 for extra without the discount. They know what they are doing :D
The overall value of the service (I recently downgraded from Premium to Extra) has been solid for me. I still think trials should be made available to everyone, including non-plus subscribers. The “classics” have been few and far-between which drove me to Extra. But on the whole, I’ve never NOT been able to find multiple games I want to play.
It is bizarre that demos for games (which, given the state of release now and fix later) are seen as a bonus in a subscription model and not just a standard.

Don't think I have ever paid full price for PS+ since it launched in 2010. I always get a discounted year during Black Friday or Days of Play for like 25% off. Just did this recently in June where a year of Premium was $90.
As someone who jumped from PS2 to PS5, I found a lot of value in PS Plus for about 6 months back in 2021. I had pretty much played/tried everything I wanted to within that timeframe which was mostly PS3 games via streaming, and a handful of PS4 games that I hadn't already bought. Now that I've mostly caught up to this generation, I don't feel like PS Plus has as much value at the moment. It's great PS5 exclusives like Returnal and Ratchet and Clank end up on the service, but I had already bought and played those games by the time they arrived. If they had more PS Classics, particularly classic survival horror and more PS2 games, I'd probably keep my subscription and use it more. Kinda miffed they got rid of PS Now and transplanted all classic games under the more expensive Essentials tier. Doesn't justify that price point for me since we had nearly the same content for less under PS Now. And yeah, they added some new games, but it's not nearly as much as I had hoped. I see PS Plus becoming valuable again to me a few years down the road to try out PS5 games I haven't picked up. I just bought a PS3 super slim last month to play through PS3 games not on the service and to use as a PS1 backwards compatibility machine. Better cost and performance + you can import other ps3 versions to play (some even with english support) if you're interested in physical editions + you can still use your PS1 discs.
I've been building up my PS+ years, so when I finally upgrade to Extra, I'll have it thru the end of my plus membership for the $100 upgrade charge. I'm holding out for a sale on the upgrade (like they did last Black Friday). Then I'm locked in for that time before I have to spend the full amount per year.
I upgraded from Extra to Premium for the remainder of my subscription because it was on a sale and they added Ghostbusters Remastered which I wanted to play. Other than that, the Premium really doesn't have much else. The game trials are fine I guess, except that you aren't downloading a demo, you must fill your ssd with the full game just to try it.
I canceled mine and went to Essential a few weeks ago. It's a good service, but it's inferior to Game Pass. Their "Classics" library is abysmal, Sony has really dropped the ball with backwards compatibility. There are like maybe 10 PS1 titles and a small handful of PS2, and a lot of them are obscure throw-away titles. War of the Monsters, Twisted Metal: Black, Oddworld & Tekken 2 are pretty much it.
It comes out to $80 every year correct? I wonder for someone who doesn’t have PlayStation plus currently. Can they just buy the extra at the discounted price on Black Fridays?
I started a Ps plus extra subscription because it was on sale last december (costed around 70€ and i thought it was worth it). So far i've been very satisfied with it, because i had the opportunity to play games i've missed out from the past years like marvel spider-man, ghost of tsushima and uncharted lost legacy, but also try something i didn't expect to enjoy as much as i did, like stray and control
I had 1 year of extra and this service is very cool. I play a lot of games and during this year I had always some cool game to play. Huge variety of games for everyone. Some big titles, some smaller games. From sports games to Doom. I am pleased. 😊
although after think this out it was first year of this service. They had huge library of PS4 games. Maby they running out of good titles and this service will become weaker after this year..who knows..
I literally bought PS5 with 2 years subscription at a price of 1 year yesterday. Many games I wanted to catch up with are in PS Plus, so it was no brainer. I only bought Spiderman 2, everything else I want to play is included in Plus
Needed this video. Picking up a ps5 disc edition this month and I needed a breakdown of PS+. Mystic makes my favourite ps5 related content. Thank you ❤️🔥
I was paying for extra and I went to the store to buy a game. Can’t remember the price of the game but Sony told me it was available in the premium version and I could get the game if I upgraded for an extra €20 plus all the other games that would come with it. That’s probably a reason why many people pay for premium.
I'm sticking with essential myself. Not planning to pay 40/60 EUR more for Extra/Premium respectively. I generally don't buy my games at full retail price anyway (sometimes even just used for half price or less if I buy somewhat recent games) and on top of that I've had games sit on the shelf for months, to sometimes years before getting to them. A rotating system doesn't help with that. Also, unlike MS Sony ain't offering anything all that recent. No Dead Space Remake, no God of War Ragnarok (even though it's first party). I've also gone months playing 1 game (Fallout, Borderlands, ...), so constantly paying (even more) for nothing doesn't sit well with me. I'm already more often than not paying PS Essential for nothing, as I've not played an online game in years nor have I played many of the 'free monthtly games' (at most a handful the last 10 years). If only Starfield didn't go to XBOX. I'd likely have been setup for 6 months on 1 game again. 😂
Subscriptions are making more sense to me as a consumer if you are digital only. Considering they can just wipe content I paid for…may as well try it and move on and buy what you like physical
For me it really has been a game changer in the way I consume games, so far this year I think I have only bought a couple of titles at full price and have played like a dozen between games I already had on my radar and some would have never tried if i had to buy them at any price, I hope they keep investing on the service and hopefully they will extend the ps3 streaming to more regions.
I was grandfathered in until mid 2025 with PS Extra. However, after this first year, when I compare it to my GamePass subscription, it can't compare in the slightest. Which means in 2025, I won't be renewing the Extra trier, I'll just stick with the Essential one.
I Currently have the Extra tier. I definitely enjoy this service. I just wish that they were most straightforward with the way they make it work IE cramming it all into one tier and locking certain games to premium
because of 3 things Mess with the player HEADS 1. what you need to be Online 2. Steaming service 3. For more upcoming games with the hope they get any of them ------------------------------------------------------------- is only to slame themself to Xbox Game pass ultimate Has only 1 Tier I go for game pass ultimate because is has all an gamer needs and not tiers
I feel like a lot of people grade the additions rather than what's available. There are a lot of sleeper hits that were already in the library before the rebrand
Extra is definitely the best value but I always buy a full year and $20 (or usually $15 more when it's on sale) is worth it for the streaming option for me. The trials will be more useful when they add ps5 streaming. I'm not likely to download a whole 100+ gb game to play it for 2 hours.
I subscribed to the Plus Premium tier in November of last year during the Black Friday sale of 25% off for an annual subscription and have no regrets. To go from Extra to Premium worked out to being less than two dollars per month more. I'm on PS4 slim yet and so thankfully I haven't experienced the graphical glitches that are on PS5, but I have experienced input lag as well as some lag in general while streaming games. It would also have been nice to see more classic games added but I can see where they might be limited in offering more such games for the reasons you mentioned. I would for sure renew my Premium subscription when it comes up again in November.
@@teacherg28 Unfortunately not all games give you the option to download them. In fact, from what I can tell so far, most games in the Premium tier are like this.
The extra has a good list of games! I like the suscription method because it makes it easy to choose a new game to start playing, instead of have me going through the store seeing what I can buy because of price! With the extra, I simply check the games available to me and choose between one of those! I only go to the store for very specific games I want that are not available on the extra!
I think I'm still content with Essentials. The main appeal of PS Plus to me was always the cloud saves and deeper discounts on game sales along with basic online play features. I don't really care for the ability to cloud stream games or play from a catalog that they can just remove from at their own discretion while I'm still playing them or about to start playing them. I know you never really "own" anything with digital licenses, but I would rather "own" these digital licenses on my account permanently rather than just temporarily rent them until my subscription runs out.
I have to disagree with you on the quality of streaming games. I tried it recently and it worked really well. I tried Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and a Ratchet and Clank game and they were very playable.
What im missing on ps+ premium is all the old school Tomb Raider games from PS1, PS2 and PS3. Also Die Hard Trilogy PS1. Alice madness returns and much more.
i live in argentina and the amount of money that i saved with the catalogue is insane; paid i think 77 dollars for the annual deluxe subscription. but in other hand i think it’s messed up that a lot of regions still dont have the premium services, we never gotten ps now and i was kinda hoping they would work on that with the new psplus :/ the only way you have to play ps3 games is literally playing on the console or the ones that got remasters for ps4
I'm happy with essential, I did go to the highest tier for 1 month just to play a few retro games, but since then I've just bought Legend of Dragoon outright. I'd rather just own it and not have games tied to a subscription.
Same with me but with Ridge Racer Type 4. I would just buy it, but it's one of those games that you have be subscribe just to play. Same with Tekken 2 and the PSP Ridge Racer game
I was one of those who was grandfathered into Premium but downgraded to Extra when renewal time came. Just don't find enough value in the Classics at the moment.
I still dont understand why Mortal Kombat 9 was removed from ps3 tier. In Greece, we didnt have Playstation Now, so i was waiting for PS Plus Premium to play this game, since my ps3 is broken. But it was never included in the new tiers, and still is not. :( And its weird that we dont have ANY mortal kombat game from Ps1, Ps2, Ps3 eras, which are all the classics! Even MKx was removed along with the PSPLUS Collection recently!...
Great value from this service, i'm loving it so far, haven't bought a single game since i bought the console but that's about to change with Spiderman 2
let me explain why premium is the best in a matter of seconds: premium = $120 2 AAA games = $120 Game Catalogue = over 100 AAA games for you to play whenever Conclusion: As long as you play more than two $60 games on game catalogue a year your subscription has paid for itself
For the upper tiers (premium and extra) do you still have to manually add the monthly games to your library (claim them) like you do in the basic tier? Or are the upper tier games automatically accessible till they rotate out or you leave the subscription? Also, if they are automatically accessible, does that mean you can play games on the upper tiers that have been added months before you joined?
Around Black Friday last fall, Sony had 25% off on renewing PS+ premium. I coupled that with getting a $100 Sony digital gift card for $90 than used it for the renewal. At that price it’s half of what Game Pass ($15) is. I would recommend if you can wait until a sale or offer is available to purchase or renew yearly at that time. I would like to see more games playable through the PC App, it is nice that your save can be cloud saved and played on console too.
Extra yes, premium not particularly but premium isn’t much more than extra so may as well keep it. It’s actually cheaper for me because I bought 3 years worth on the Black Friday deal and it ended up being cheaper than normal extra. Normal extra is about £85 I think and i paid £75
I signed up for a year of premium since I just bought a PS5 (for FF16) which is my first PlayStation ever. I appreciate that I have a backlog of PS4, PS3, PS2, and PS1 classics to experience. I will say I wish there was a Jetmoto and Twisted Metal PS1 game available to revisit for nostalgias sake.
I have enjoyed playing games that I wouldn't have played otherwise because I didn't own them. In fact during the recent sale on PS+, I renewed my membership for Premium at the discounted price instead of the full price.
As a previous Xbox and game pass subscriber I actually find more value in PS+ as I find they have a more quality selection of games I want to play. I don't mind paying for Atlus games compared to Xbox. Would prefer boxed copies anyway.
$100 for June 28 2022 to 28 Jun 2023 for PS+ Extra. I tried Premium for 3 weeks before dropping down - the value wasn’t there for me game wise and PS streaming (really all streaming game services for the matter) suck. Value of a lifetime. Every month something I played, or wanted to play, was added on top of the hits that were there at release. Add that to the PS+ Essential games and holy shit what a value this was. Definitely going for a 2nd year. My hope in the future is that they do upgrade Premium to include day-and-date 1st party before dropping them down to Extra 18 months later. It would be a true direct Game Pass competitor rather than the “we do it differently” competitor. They would absolutely kill Game Pass on both fronts of quality and quantity.
For me, it's more about the quality not the quantity of the games. I found that I am buying a lot of the games I'd like to play as they're not on the game catalogue.
I think its great. I went to Xbox since they had gamepass and im not paying 70 dollars a peice for games. Now im back to PS on Extra, still wont buy any game that launched at 70 dollars, so for an extra 30 or 40 a year, im happy with Extra
Do you have to download the games to your hard drive when you have the PS Plus ability to play and demo games, or are you playing them on their servers/cloud?
The ps classics catalog has been a huge disappointment for me up to this point. I would love to see them add games like persona 1 and 2, digital devil saga or just a more consistant release schedule in general. I can't even remember the last time they added a ps2 game... Seems like they release a game once every couple months and most of the time it's just relatively mid games. I can't even natively download and run the ps3 games and have to stream them. Ps plus premium is an absolute ripoff at their price point. Even Nintendo is more consistent with their retro releases🤦♂️
I really have not messed around with the trials too much. If these were full game access I would happily pay more for Premium if Sony wants to charge more money.
As an evening and weekend gamer, I only subscribe to the Essential tier so that I can play online multiplayer games, but I am literally paying £60 a year for that privilege. It feels like a rip-off because most PC gamers can play their games online for free. PS Plus is like throwing money out the window, but I need to keep subscribing if I want to play fighting, driving and shooter games online with other players. I preferred it before the tier system was implemented because back then at least I was able to download any title to experiment with. Now, there is nothing worth downloading on the Essential tier. All the good stuff is on Extra or Premium. ☹
I have Premium and think it's great. For a hundred bucks a year I can play as many games as I want, and for someone like me who doesn't exactly have a ton of money, it actually saves me a lot of money from having to buy games. I can tell you right now with the amount of games I've played already it is well beyond the hundred or more bucks I spent on the service. And there IS a lot of new games on there. Yeah they're not day one but still, they get there pretty fast. The latest one being Farcry 6 which will be added on the 20th of this month. I absolutely think the service is a great value and money saver. Unless you're a collector of physical games or need games the nanosecond they release. I'm not either of those people. There's plenty of games out there to play. I can wait.
I have about 40+ friends on PSN and half of it are friends of mine for a long time during PS3 era. And they never subscribed to anything until now. We usually play online games that don't require PSplus and games that require PSplus. Well play them on PC. And as of now lot of them are now subscribed to PSplus so I think Playstation did something right with this year
PS5 was my first console purchase in a long time when stock was available again after xmas 2022 (since my old PS2) but since i'm still a fairly casual/single player gamer nowadays due to heavy work commitments - the PSPlus is a godsend for me, as I can try different titles from the library. I get they ain't the latest for PS5 but at least I got to play some gems like Ghosts of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West and Death Stranding.
Just resubbed to Premium recently after the PS Now convertion, with the 25% discount from Days of Play. However, as a collector I do have amassed a backlog of games so I rarely boot up any of the games that this service offers. When sales on PSN are active, I do think twice before purchasing anything cuz it might appear on PS+ later. The service is getting better, and hopefully some PSVR2 titles will appear down the line. And native PS3 emulation, but I bet Nintendo will offer Virtual Console before Sony will give us PS3 support.
I bought the top tier because of how little 5 only titles come out. Seemed worth it at least for a year. I never used anything from the extra service I paid for. Online subs feels a lot like paying high auto insurance in a really bad area when you have zero accidents and a long driving history.
I strongly regret purchasing Premium. I was expecting hundreds of old PS1/PS2/PSP games, but barely anything got released. None of the retro games hold any interest for me. Where are all of the old Twisted Metal games, for example?
Hi there i don’t have a PlayStation 5, but I’ve been thinking about getting one. I have several questions in mind and I’d greatly appreciate a reply. 1: If a game disappears from the list as Sony removes games now and then and I played it, and it appeared on my game list, I won’t be able to play it anymore? 2: If I play a game whilst streaming it, it counts for a regular gameplay experience, right? It’s just affected by my internet? 4, ‘cause I’ve asked two questions at once: According to what I read some PS2 are downloadable, so a similar issue came to mind from the first question. Basically my overall point is the question of is it worth it, and my fear is that if a game is removed I won’t be able to play it again.
I've just tried out the premium tier. I assumed it was mostly just the classics. But no it seems like the main value from premium atm is the cloud streaming. I tried it today and it works really well. I played ff10, oblivion, dragon quest heroes 2 and a random bee simulator game, all without having to download or install anything. And it works without noticable lag, and the resolution was pretty good. Not full resolution and i saw the occation compression artifact but it ran well and looked surprisingly good. Seems like a good way to play ps3 games on ps4 and ps5. Or ps4/ps5 games that you just want to try. But all of it is perfectly playable
I was very disappointed to see that Sony moved the PS+ Collection from Essential to Extra! I now need Extra to play BO3, Arkam Knight, and Until Dawn. Previously was on Essential when I added them to my library.

Ah man, 12:08 just gave me the biggest nostalgia... That double jump, I can hear the "huh huh" sound effect now 🤣
I'm still using Essential until they improve Premium
Thank you for all the great content. You really take the time to break everything down.
Exactly. The catalog is tiny
Extra has been fantastic value for the money, especially since I always renew it when its on sale around Black Friday.
I wish they would release ALL the classic games with trophy support. It’s gives players more of an incentive to play through them.
I had 1 year of extra and this service is very cool. I play a lot of games and during this year I had always some cool game to play. Huge variety of games for everyone. Some big titles, some smaller games. From sports games to Doom. I am pleased. 😊
I'm having playstation premium and I love it
@@nickohira1397 that depends on yours sentiment to old games in my case i have none because I am PC player. Recently I switched to ps
although after think this out it was first year of this service.
Thank you ❤️🔥
Xbox cloud saves are Free
Sony version
You need PS Plus to even access it and an Update
Id say ps extra is definitely worth it
Yep agree. Premium is not for me at all
I see Mystic I press Like 🤷♂️

I just wish that they were most straightforward with the way they make it work IE cramming it all into one tier and locking certain games to premium
because of 3 things
Mess with the player HEADS
1. what you need to be Online
2. Steaming service
3. For more upcoming games with the hope they get any of them
-------------------------------------------------------------
is only to slame themself to Xbox
Game pass ultimate Has only 1 Tier
I go for game pass ultimate because is has all an gamer needs and not tiers
I feel like a lot of people grade the additions rather than what's available. There are a lot of sleeper hits that were already in the library before the rebrand
0:50 I don’t know if this was a mistake or what, but Stray did not win game of the year. It was simply nominated
Extra is definitely the best value but I always buy a full year and $20 (or usually $15 more when it's on sale) is worth it for the streaming option for me. The trials will be more useful when they add ps5 streaming. I'm not likely to download a whole 100+ gb game to play it for 2 hours.
If it wasn't for licensing issues, ps plus premium retro collection would be huge by now
I subscribed to the Plus Premium tier in November of last year during the Black Friday sale of 25% off for an annual subscription and have no regrets. I would for sure renew my Premium subscription when it comes up again in November.
if steaming produces input lag, why don't you download, play and then delete?
@@teacherg28 Unfortunately not all games give you the option to download them. In fact, from what I can tell so far, most games in the Premium tier are like this.
The extra has a good list of games! I like the suscription method because it makes it easy to choose a new game to start playing, instead of have me going through the store seeing what I can buy because of price! With the extra, I simply check the games available to me and choose between one of those! I only go to the store for very specific games I want that are not available on the extra!
Why don’t Sony just put a ps3 emulator on the ps5 and put that In premium?
Premium is worth it for me. I used to get Now & Plus yearly so I’m not spending anymore than I already was.
I got premium for $20 during the days of play sale. Had essential & upgraded with over 230 days left.
Now the price just jumped like crazy
Playstation going back and adding trophies afterwards is such a good move, if only ubisoft would do so on steam I would be so happy T-T
Great value from this service, i'm loving it so far, haven't bought a single game since i bought the console but that's about to change with Spiderman 2
let me explain why premium is the best in a matter of seconds:
premium = $120
2 AAA games = $120
Game Catalogue = over 100 AAA games for you to play whenever
Conclusion: As long as you play more than two $60 games on game catalogue a year your subscription has paid for itself
exactly what I needed as a new PS5 owner, saw you on spawncast, nice content
For the upper tiers (premium and extra) do you still have to manually add the monthly games to your library (claim them) like you do in the basic tier? Or are the upper tier games automatically accessible till they rotate out or you leave the subscription?
Also, if they are automatically accessible, does that mean you can play games on the upper tiers that have been added months before you joined?
Its the second one
Premium is totally worth it to me. Locked in until the end of next year
sad if I pay
£ 21.51 for 3 months of game pass ultimate for nearly the price of 1 mouth
and get an month FREE
Just upgraded from essential to premium. It's good so far.
Hypocrite supporting sony but doesn't want to lmao
Around Black Friday last fall, Sony had 25% off on renewing PS+ premium. I coupled that with getting a $100 Sony digital gift card for $90 than used it for the renewal. At that price it’s half of what Game Pass ($15) is. I would recommend if you can wait until a sale or offer is available to purchase or renew yearly at that time. I would like to see more games playable through the PC App, it is nice that your save can be cloud saved and played on console too.
For the first year I went with the Premium but I think I'm going to go with Extra this year.
Instead of just fixing streaming they should also make the ps3 games downloadable
Some you can download
@@nickohira1397 key word, some
@@jjDarell better then nothing
Extra yes, premium not particularly but premium isn’t much more than extra so may as well keep it. It’s actually cheaper for me because I bought 3 years worth on the Black Friday deal and it ended up being cheaper than normal extra. Normal extra is about £85 I think and i paid £75
I only use my PS5 for exclusives and after paying for the service, I never used it, cancelled it off.
I absolutely hate how I really can’t find discounted ps plus cards anymore
Though I’m sure that was intended
I hope they bring more PS2 games, for sure. Can't wait.
I pay for this annually but I rarely play much. If I do it’s literally Fortnite with the boys after work. Not sure why I keep signing up every year 😒
Play plus Extra was a great deal to me. Really paid for itself.
I really enjoy PS Deluxe, so many great games to enjoy
It was worth it, but the recent price increase forced me to go down to Extra
PS Plus Extra is amazing! Insane value
Even Nintendo is more consistent with their retro releases🤦♂️
i just re up premium i enjoyed it and didnt have any complaints except we need more ps2 games
I can wait.
Ps plus extra is definitely the best for most people, unless you like streaming games, old ps1 games or game trials, premium just isn’t worth it IMO
I get they ain't the latest for PS5 but at least I got to play some gems like Ghosts of Tsushima, Horizon Forbidden West and Death Stranding.
do you get everything that is included in the essential and extra if you buy the premium?
As long as you play 3-4 games from it a year, it basically pays for itself. I played all of stray which is 30 dollars 😊
Trying to take advantage of the 25% promotion to stack up another year but I can not downgrade from premium to extra. Any Ideas?
How do u get that discount do u have to get one of tier for it to show up?
@@UltimateInkling I think os over now. It was showing me to renew premium for $79 for one more year.
Thinking about upgrading--but I would like to ask if I can download the classic games or if they're streamable only.
