WOW, this is as realistic as it gets. I had several HO and 1/32 racing sets back in the 1960s when slotcar racing was in its heyday but I eventually got bored with the limited control over the cars. This actually incorporates a type of steering into the equation which makes all the difference.
Yep. I remember back in the mid '70s, under a different name than mentioned in other comments, a two-lane three-electric-rail slot-less track, grey of color, with lane-changing cars and controllers with steering wheels, every track had built-in guard rails. It was great! Happy to see an advanced version that works much better!
yea, they got alot smaller.. i remember they used to be HUGE! people used to even fit inside the racecars back then.. people used to come to watch the races.. the tracks were miles long.. MILES long, i tell you! my, how times have changed.. im getting older..
I've always liked the slotless racing - although not very many race tracks from the 1960's were set up that way. But I always thought it would be a lot more entertaining as well as having a much higher degree of difficulty for the driver(s). Thanks for posting this.
@@JohnDoe-ho7pd The only problem with the system was the burning though of the pads. Once those went, good luck trying to find replacements. It was exciting stuff, though.
Awesome! My brother and I were big into 1/24th scale slot car racing in the early 1960's. This is what we always wished it was like though. Unfortunately it appears this track is no longer available anywhere. All I find for sale is the 1/32nd scale buildings, no cars and no track.
With practice that will become second nature to you. I used to race remote control cars and I was to the point where I didn't have to think about the turns coming and going. I really like your track. Very nice, good job. One thing to think of....your opponents have to do the same. There in lies the challenge.
Much better system! With this at least you are actually driving the car unlike slot racing which to me was always a speed management game rather than anything else but still fun ;)
I'm glad this doesn't require that crazy sideways skidding I've seen on others. Wish you didn't have to turn so much, though; hard to really step on the pedal for straightaway speed. Maybe if I saw this in context with other racers.
I had Race n Chase early 80s kept me quiet for a yr or 2. You could change direction by pressing a button on top of controller also had a ramp to jump over police car.
Awesome! I was going to comment That the car is travelling along the same line and then @ 2:16 he missed the turn and it was then I realised wow awesome skills.
When he went through the weeds that was fantastic - you never see that in slots - very real, as real cars go in the grass, would be good for like GTA...
There are many other and better videos on my channel which show close and exciting racing. Although several hundred cars were sold, production problems and lack of appreciation for the system led to the end of production some time ago.
I gotta have this closest to having ho scale rc car racing tracks for your house instead of slot cars would be a blast or even any type of small rc car in ho size that is designed for rc racing on a table top click type track system like slot car tracks but no slots wway wider and no electricity needed for the track and it would produce some very incredible racing at home
Have you tried a Dnano on there? They are a touch pricey but magnitudes of order more fun and precise to drive plus no need for special track so DIY with inclines is all good. Absolutely takes more skill and and patience than magtracks though but very rewarding when weather is too bad to fly stuff outside.
He was talking about the actual point at which he switches lane to take "the racing line". I know it looks like he's just talking about the actual bend but he's not. Eg . coming down the far right straight at the end he says Right but he's talking about the switch to the right hand side to be on the inside for the hairpin, at the exit you can hear him say left too, that's where he switches back to the outside lane. He should've included how it looks like when he gets it wrong too to make it clearer.
Ah Wes this is totally cool.. I'm 50 and remember the Elden track and some Strombecker , but the "BIG" deal was when TCR ( Total Control Racing ) came in . We could race and put the car almost anywhere on the track we wanted too, without having the slot in the middle. We all daydreamed about a track like yours and now that I'm an adult I say GO AWAY KIDS this is the old guys track now hahahhaha. Is the track/car system available today or is it something I'd have to hunt around for like ebay or yard sales ? Thanks for the great vid Wes well done. Tim.... Vancouver Island B.C. Canada..
Can you show the path the car would drive if you didn’t give it steering input? I assign that if the car starts in the outside lane at the start, it would stay in that lane the whole time? Can you change lanes at any point on the track or only at the corners?
This differs but little from the TCR system of yore. By now, you would think it would be possible to steer the car from the controller, irrespective of where it was on the track.
It's got MAG right in the name so I don't think it's a secret, lol. Plus, if you fully floor it you still DO have to steer or you WILL go flying off the track. I think you forgot about that part when you were talking about his steering being meaningless.
I know there's that German model railroad layout that has something like this in the streets, with computer-controlled cars going on their own. I wonder when this will be available commercially? Who wouldn't love to have cars zipping around their model railroad, running on their own?

Everyone else has already said, this is indeed very cool. I'd like to see this with multiple cars going at it. Lots of skill involved here.
As an old HO scale slot racer (and still have everything) this is really cool looking and trippy.
I have a feeling he’s making that look very easy.
That's because it is buddy
That's incredibly impressive.
Incredible. That’s the most realistic example of car racing I’ve ever seen in a toy car system. Great job!
grew up with AFX then had R/C 10s Blackfoot etc this is both worlds together incredible to see the tech advancing so much this looks like a blast

TCR -Total control racing 👍
race car tracks have changed a lot since I was a kid.
They run on electricity and batteries now, eh?
yea, they got alot smaller.. i remember they used to be HUGE!
people used to even fit inside the racecars back then.. people used to come to watch the races.. the tracks were miles long.. MILES long, i tell you! my, how times have changed.. im getting older..
dgs .astgh Agreed. Them days are lost in time. They were never indoors!
What
Have they ever!!! Slot cars have computer chips in them now and the manufacturing quality and speeds are incredible!

This is sweet! This is exactly what TCR racing was back in the 1980's. Beautiful.
Yeap, i had a TCR track in the late 70's
@@JohnDoe-ho7pd The only problem with the system was the burning though of the pads. Once those went, good luck trying to find replacements. It was exciting stuff, though.
Now that is cool !
The left/right play by play really helped me follow the action.
Spaceman Spliff left, left right right left left right 😂
Awesome bit of driving there my man.
11:33pm Super high. And this is very cool!
I had a SLOT track and the maintenance is a real downer. This looks like a ton of fun. Good job!
Back-in-the-day , Aurora HO & Strombecker 1/32 were Everything ... Woulda' figured there should come a new day!
Awesome! My brother and I were big into 1/24th scale slot car racing in the early 1960's. This is what we always wished it was like though. Unfortunately it appears this track is no longer available anywhere. All I find for sale is the 1/32nd scale buildings, no cars and no track.
How long has man and boy waited for this!!! Awesome ;-)

The most impressive part of this video was when the car went off the track and seemed to just turn around and rejoin
I guess he added some kind of "emergency lane" on the outside of the gravel pit. That's a really cool idea and adds a lot to the track!
Looks great, I'll be ordering my MAGRacing cars before winter for sure, this looks like too much fun to not be involved in.
Do you have the money?
Nice lines and control
That is amazing. You are a really good driver.
I have not even seen a slot car in 52 years. Magracing looks pretty cool.
Wow that's super cool, I never have done slot cars but still super cool!
So it's really an RC car with a magnetic guide to help keep it on the racing line? That's really cool.
Much better system! With this at least you are actually driving the car unlike slot racing which to me was always a speed management game rather than anything else but still fun ;)
I saw this by accident but thumbs up. Very cool.
Thats real driving skill!
I'm glad this doesn't require that crazy sideways skidding I've seen on others. Wish you didn't have to turn so much, though; hard to really step on the pedal for straightaway speed. Maybe if I saw this in context with other racers.
This looks cool. I bet the commentator has a really "magnetic" personality too 😁
Nice invention you have. Very cool!
By far the nicest indoor action there is!
ever seen RC drifting? lol
that looks totally awesome!
that is so wicked cool man ive been slot car racing a long time and real drag racing a super comp dragster but i never seen this before !!
Looks like a Great Scale Race Challenge. AND MOST OF ALL, FUN! CHEERS
I want one of this!!!
I had Race n Chase early 80s kept me quiet for a yr or 2. You could change direction by pressing a button on top of controller also had a ramp to jump over police car.
No slots. I like this type of race track. Maybe I will get into this hobby later.
Simply fantastic!
Awesome! I was going to comment That the car is travelling along the same line and then @ 2:16 he missed the turn and it was then I realised wow awesome skills.
I used to have a track that the cars could change Lane's in the 80s called TCR
that is absolute great!
Much nicer than a slotted track. Some guard rails might be nice.
That is seriously BAD ASS!
brilliant. love it.
That track is so realistic!
Nice track and fun video
The arrows are a great touch.
After one minute my brain would not have any sugar ;)
Genial invención!
i dont even know why i like this because i have never seen this shit before and have no care for it but i do so thumbs up.
Wtf ! This is awesome!!!
What a great idea!
Nice toy Wes.
Like the new video .Very much.
Is any of this still available? Great concept for home builders.
Wow this looks cool :)
Magic. Well done.
that was really cool.
Best track race ever...
That is impresive O.O Plz do a totorial !!!
When he went through the weeds that was fantastic - you never see that in slots - very real, as real cars go in the grass, would be good for like GTA...
What has happened with Magracing??? This has really captured my attention.
Need, a close view of the cars ,are they homemade?
This is pretty neat!
There are many other and better videos on my channel which show close and exciting racing. Although several hundred cars were sold, production problems and lack of appreciation for the system led to the end of production some time ago.
Sounds like the Faller Car System. A magnetic strip under the road surface that steers a powered car.
That is awesome 👍👌

Wow thats cool
Sweet!
Wow, shooting apexes with non-slot cars. Impressive.
Have you tried a Dnano on there?

Absolutely takes more skill and and patience than magtracks though but very rewarding when weather is too bad to fly stuff outside.
i think that track would be fun to run the opposite direction as well.....
Good job you kept saying "left" and "right" consistantly.... i doubt i would have been able to follow the action otherwise! Groan!
He was talking about the actual point at which he switches lane to take "the racing line". I know it looks like he's just talking about the actual bend but he's not.

pay attention craig he changes it up in the middle and goes "right left". this guy is out of control.
Wow, you're correct! The guy was obviously on the edge. I bet he's a fekkin riot at dinner parties! lol
Thanks, Craig, otherwise I might have enjoyed watching this guy's video.
Pleasure Floyd.... don't ever say i don't do anything for you! ;)
That looks so funny....👏👏👏🤗
Incredible use of modern Technology can you make the lanes a bit wider they look narrow . Thank You . You can make million by marketing this idea .
Amazing!! :) THX

I liked it!
Wow riveting and exciting.
i wonder if carreras hybrid track system uses this
This differs but little from the TCR system of yore.
By now, you would think it would be possible to steer the car from the controller, irrespective of where it was on the track.
Slot racing without slots. Looks great. Now if we could drive on any flat surface without need for track.. wait...
nice layout too
Awesome!
Good use of magnets there dude, didnt have me fooled ;)
Dont you think the term MAGracing implies it?
Yes, but the video and reading through alot of the comments most here dont realize and think hes 'steering' around the track
It's got MAG right in the name so I don't think it's a secret, lol. Plus, if you fully floor it you still DO have to steer or you WILL go flying off the track. I think you forgot about that part when you were talking about his steering being meaningless.

its already on the Market!
That’s bad ass!!!
Well it's great cause now you can race against an opponent :)
Very cool. Oh by the way, why not delete any "derogatory" comments. Bitches can't invent, but sure can badmouth! Screw them!!, Nice job.
Left, left, right left right. Left, right, left, left, right. Caaaaaar halt! (one, two). At ease.
Wow. Cool!
do you have any .stl for 3d printing the body's and chassis'
Good racing line i thought u couldn't get out of track u made look like it was magnetized to road ja xD
