    Damn that's impressive. That car has been restored. The exhaust note is serious.
    Man's reach should extent beyond his grasp. Amen. Indeed.
    You can never sell that car, too much of your soul has gone into it. Sell something else. Just park it in a protective environment and drive it once a month. That drive will revive your soul.
    I think every person should have something old in excellent condition to remind them that all material things decay. But here is one thing (in your case that Volvo wagon) that with attention will last as long as you do. As Firefly fans would say, "stay shiny".

      I really like that sentiment about owning something old. This wagon has an owner, but I do get Bruce, the 1962 model 😁 and selling that is beyond my last wish!

      @@DavidBello Fair enough. So long as you have one car. But the work you put into the Amazon wagon was huge. Same for Bruce I guess. Try not to shed a tear when they drive away in the wagon. Cheers.

    My uncle popped the idea of this estate when working at the the volvo headoffice here in gothenburg . They were allover in the 60s and 70s but the rust made them dissappeare . Even the police used them with alot of extra features of coures . This was a real gem though !

    Hey David, I just rewatched a YT vid, title "I bought a FLOODED F150! First Start and Revival!".
    I'm not suggesting you get into F150s LOL. It's the colour scheme that appeals.
    The main green is Ivy's colour. The trim colours are a lighter green and an almost yellow.
    Even in its rusty paint eroded state the green overlaid with strips of light green and yellow looks strangely appealing. It wouldn't be Volvo kosher but it would look pretty. Check it out.

    Greg Macke (You're Car Angel) recommends spraying peppermint scented water (add essential oil to spray bottle) in the engine bay and wherever the mice like to nibble and build nests. They hate peppermint. See Greg's YT channel and specific video on this problem. :)

    I don't believe the dual carb is stick at least not in Europe. The B20A uses a single Stromberg.

    If my Wagon (in UK) sits for more than a month or so it always needs 20-25 seconds churning to get fuel from back to front. This seems to be a common Amazon foible. It's looking very nice, mine is dark blue. It hasn't run since the end of October but I expect just to screw the battery isolator down and give it a churn. Really should get it done.

    • @DavidBello
      @DavidBello  2 роки тому

      My 164 is similar. And the Lancia did the same as the fuel eventually runs back down the line and filter. This requires a bit of churning on the pump end before it fills the bowls enough to cough back to life.

    Dear David Bello.
    👍👌👏 This wagon is even more than extremely well done. Congrats! Nevertheless: If you don't feel pride and a kind of love for it, maybe it's time for selling your masterpiece? I still love to see oldtimer vehicles restored to an all around shiny better than new condition. But I wouldn't want to drive them. Meanwhile I prefer good patina restorations or something in between. Definitely payable ones to achieve a really good, reliable running condition so that one can enjoy driving his old car.
    2) I really hope, that you will be able to rent/purchase a nice house with a workshop (and a car lift or at least a pit) someday.
    As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
    Best regards, luck and health to all of you.
    Post Scriptum: I don't know if I got it right. So please kindly allow me to ask: Is the green Volvo wagon with the red fender actually sold? Or will we see a patina restoration?

    • @DavidBello
      @DavidBello  2 роки тому

      Thanks Chru Cas, as always, for popping in. This car has an owner-collector, and for the time spent and money earned on its restoration, I am grateful. As for selling it, that’s not in the cards right now. As his Italian cars continue to demand more of the wallet (and my billable hours), this car sits in storage to be occasionally visited and inspected for rodents. I’m sure the owner will be happy to get back behind the wheel of Genevieve, but that is precluded by any inclement weather, as this is the best solution to keep it out of the elements (few as they are in Southern California). Also, when they do decide to behave, the Italian cars are quite addicting. So I have begun to appreciate and understand their appeal As a user, but not as a technician.
      As for the 245 with replacement fender, I have goals to get it in dependable driving condition in the summer.
      Cheers!

    The Amazon wagons are something special. This restoration is really well done, lots of care and work went into it, major props!
    You mention they are going up in value, any idea what they sell for? It's the same deal in Denmark where I live, here they go for the equivalent of 20-25 grand in that condition.

    • @DavidBello
      @DavidBello  2 роки тому

      I would guess this one to sell at 35-40 grand at this time. After all, you just need one or two persons interested in a showroom-like restored car

  • @neuroleptika

    The amazon will sell for a small fortune in Sweden, bet it will in America as well so all your work was not in vain as an investment. The wagons are so rare, cant even find one abandoned and rusted in the woods at this point.

    • @DavidBello
      @DavidBello  2 роки тому

      This was a very old kit from John Parker of V-Performance. They run rich, but the power is fun in a snappy way. The gradualness of the SU (and their simplicity!) makes them the obvious choice for these cars. Bruce and Genevieve have identical engines: B20, .030 bore over, K cam, E heads. I know the coupé is lighter, but it just feels that much quicker with the HS6 carbies. Cheers!
