I feel you Marc, this loss hurts bad especially when there were so many big plays on defense. Coach Link had some crazy play calls, especially during the 4min drill. Also refs missed some penalties on Michigan. O-line was decent in overall performance, Elijah Paige needs more time to get better Elijah or Tobias need to start at RT and put Murphy at LT. Let's get a win this week and get this terrible loss out of our mouths✌🏽
USC has the bester offense. So what does Riley do? Let's play conservative in the 1st half and let the crowd into the game. Then at the end with 4 min left. Let's throw 2 passes and burn 11 seconds and then kick the ball to them with plenty of time.
Don’t apologize Marc. You’re frustrated as hell- and clearly you’re not the only Trojan that is. As you know, big fan of SC never played football never will… but I love hearing from you all and learn more about the sport. All I know is they get back in the game and Fight On. ✌️ AnnMarie in Santa Barbara CA.
The offense was horrible as a whole. The line was garbage and wr keep dropping passes as they have all year. We kept running wr screens and they didn't work at all. The wr have not performed all year. This is not on the defense, this is all on the offense.
Yep, its had for Miller Moss to work when he has ublocked defenders in his face. UCLA sacked CALEB WILLIAMS many times in our loss to them last year. Play calling was strange.
First, welcome to the Big Ten. I hope those USC folks who came to the game had fun, despite the behavior or a few bad actors in Blue. Shout out to Holly, Mike, and Larry - cool USC fans we met Friday night at an A2 speakeasy. (We were stunned folks even knew this place existed, but glad they found it.) Great people and fun conversations. Whereas I told them I figured we wouldn't win, they noted concerns about our QB change (and focus on running) and our defense - which actually turned out to be true. Totally agree that if you came out firing the first half, we could have been in more trouble. I think our punting game, which is really good, impacted that. Good luck to Lemon - none of the fans in my area of the stands even saw what happened, so hope he's ok.
B1G welcomes USC to the big league division, but passing is an addition to the established running game. Learn that and develop meaner O & D linemen. Winning follows, guaranteed.
clr, because he doesn't deserve caps on his abbreviation anymore, can't manage clock to save his life. And Lynn needed to put 8-9 in the box. Credit to Michigan and sherrone Moore because he outcoached lr. Usc played their best. They're missing a little still in the trenches.
How much longer do we have to keep giving coach Henson a pass for this terrible OL? He had two weeks to prepare for this Michigan pass rush and we couldn’t even run the offense for the last three quarters of the game.
WASTED OPPORTUNITY! This is the reason I watch Marc Culkin sitting here in Philly and having my opportunity to brag about our boy Eric Gentry's great game. You covered all the big stuff; and thank you for calling out Branch. He seems afraid to return the ball, especially on punts, unless he has a ton of space. Today he left them with terrible field position multiple times, he made no attempt to come back to the ball on that pick 6, and he dropped multiple passes. If you have star ability, you gotta show up in a game like this - you're not a freshman anymore!
Calm down Marc...deep breaths.....Forget the penalties, the turnovers, the refs and the broken plays. This loss is NOT on the Defense. The D gave up 20 points tonight just as they did against LSU......The O-Plan, O-Line, play calling, and coaching were dreadful. And the O-Staff was not changed in the past year. .If we don't do some of those bad things we did tonight for the remainder of the season, then this game will not have been a waste.......Fight On! On to Wisconsin.
Look at the last 20 national championship teams. A vast majority of them had great defenses. If a team can't score they can't win. And that M o-line pushed the USC do line like they weren't even there. It was too easy at times. Almost 300 yards against that D line of USC. It reminded me of last year's win against Penn State. M had 60 passing yards in that game. But ran for over 250. They didn't pass the entire second half (there was one, but it was a pass interference call, so it did not count. Bottom line: M didn't need to pass it today.
Defense should’ve done better against a team everyone knew couldn’t pass. Also, still could’ve won despite refs. Great teams don’t allow refs to beat you. Miller Moss should not have thrown the ball to side of a first round corner, doing that resulted in a pick 6. Also, don’t try to do the basic inside zone run up the middle against a line that has two first rounders. Finally, don’t get cute with play calling and call a WR pass and two dumb shovel passes.
Not on the D? Trojans got schooled by a team that can’t throw. They knew a run was coming almost every single play and Michigan still put up 300 yards on the ground. I’m not saying offense doesn’t beat ALOT of the blame, but if you give up 300 yards on the ground to a team with no QB, your defense straight up got bloody and schooled.
Despite everything you said Marc, which was 100% accurate. they stormed back from a 14-0 deficit and the worst 1st quarter I have ever seen, threw a pick 6, and STILL took a four point lead, got a 3 and out, held Michigan to 7 yards of offense in the second half, ran 33 plays to 11. That's domination in my book. Had the ball on their own 38, but unfortunately a penalty took them back 5 yards so they decided to throw on 2nd and 3rd down, which was dumb. Then got creased for the first time in the whole second half and Humphrey made a bad effort and Mullings got 60. Got it to 4th down, but couldn't stop them. Absolutely frustrating as hell!! However, just clean some things up and call better plays PLEASE LR and I truly believe we'll be OK.
Yes the refs missed several calls, but my blame is on Lincoln! His piss poor incompetent offensive play calling failed us again! Games that should be won are lost on Lincolns mediocre play calling! This so-called "offensive guru" plays conservative and not too lose, when you needed to step on the gas and GO score! Not being creative and aggressive enough is getting old! There are too many weapons not to move the ball down the field.. Start making O-Line adjustments before it's too late.. As funny as it sounds, you can't rely on the defense every game! By the way, wheres offensive line development? Josh Hensen needs to step to the podium and take accountability for his failure of offensive line development or resign! This is the Big Ten now! The offensive line MUST be better prepared because it won't get any easier here on out!
I think USC has Killer Instincts, though I didn't see any in the first half, but the Defense, held michigan to 14 points in the first half. Not bad, I expected us to score at least one touchdown or maybe two. Soft play calling-I agree. Running the ball up the middle 2 to 3 times in a row? OL- inconsistent I agree w u there.. ITs hard for MOSS or anyone to take command when there are multiple unblocked defenders rushing him. UCLA sacked Caleb Williams tons of times last year and Caleb was a great runner. Blind Refs-AMEN, and the interception killed us.
@@actlikewho Jeez people didn't trash his play calling against LSU or U St. But I do agree he screwed up especially with those stupid shovel passes on the drive before Michigan score. They could have put much more clock pressure on Michigan.
Riley’s playcalling was atrocious. D got us the ball back so many times and Riley just gave it right back with terrible play calls. D’anton Lynn should be the head coach.
You read my mind, and hit almost everything I saw. Your rant is 100% on point, and maybe pulled a couple punches I would have landed right after the game. What the hell is up with how Alani Noa gets set? He barely gets set in time, making a jerking motion, Every Play and cost us penalty yards because the way he gets set. They could have called it many more times. It looks like he's resting or tired, unlike everyone else. Did the horrible field possession in the first quarter screw up CLR's play calls? He got super conservative and ran the ball into the strength of the UM defense. Why wasn't he rolling out Moss to help with pressure? The game way there for the taking. CLR changed the play on the pick 6, they Baited the Hell out of him, then Miller Telegraphed the play horribly, and Zach didn't execute. Take it away and win? Your take on Lake is 100% on point, and the short passing game was horrible, too many sideways throws. Fight On!
@@traxiii Lots of mistakes, Their heads and hearts were not there For many of them, after seeing their Last win, I was sure we had an up and coming National championship contender, the GR8 ones Always want the ball, and play with brains and passion, Skill, and Consistency.
SC fans will have to adjust. This isn't the Rose Bowl. You do not have the luxury of cheaty refs with USC jerseys under their stripes. And, coming to the midwest, be prepared for some fan payback for all those decades of BS in the Rose Bowl.
Our O Line was AWFUL!! Specifically at LT..Riley play calling does get suspect when SC needs a first down. I thought Miller played a little rattled, but he was running for his life. Zachariah isn't playing with confidence, fair catching punts and no one is within 15 yards. You are spot on about Lake! Send his ass vertical, THATS how he lead the team in receiving..ok I'll have to stop, this comment will get too long. Eric Gentry is a monster!
One item that has not been mentioned. Moss is an absolute statue. Zero threat to even scramble for a few yards to move the ball and get a tough first down. Michigan knew this and never had to worry about QB containment. If he could of run for a first down instead of passing with 4 minutes left, USC could have won. Moss’ lack of mobility will cost USC games this year.
I said this repeatedly on multiple threads…either roll Miller or bring in Maiva on a few RPO packages to keep the defense honest. Even if he runs for 2-3 yards while the clock runs vs those dumb shovel passes that stops the clock. Teams will obviously watch this film and come at Miller.
The defense did not let us down, this was on the offense. They had 300 yards but 180 came off three plays. Other than that the defense played well, they shut them down in the second half until the miss tackle on last drive. This is all on the offense.
You’re right: the refs missed calling holding on the Trojans pretty much every single pass play. Blatant holding. Couldn’t stop the pass rush any other way and they weren’t subtle about it.
I thought the drops were more damaging than the pick-6 and the big plays the defense gave up. Once again not trusting the running backs despite how well they played Woody Marks & Quinten Joyner had 7.7 yards an attemp. might have cost USC a game. officials are now working in the I think the Pac-12 officales are now working in the Big Ten.
What bothered me most is the 4th down right before Michigan’s first TD. Michigan was clearly short and Riley didn’t challenge the spot. Instead of a takeaway, Michigan busted out a big run on the next play for a TD
And to be clear on the penalties/lack of calls, you are right. Not the main reason but pretty egregious. Multiple times the play clock expired on Michigan with no call. The first sack of Moss and the last one before the half were blatant facemasks. The shot that knocked Lemon out was a blindside shot. The 4th and 1 spot right before the first Michigan TD was wrong. Zero holding on Michigan...C'MON! All that said, if Lincoln can come up with a clever run play or two with 4 minutes left, the game as over.
@@marcomangano1898 - if you want to talk egregious lack of penalty calls, you need to stop thinking it was a one-way thing. USC got FAR more gracious treatment as there wasn’t a single pass play where the Trojans weren’t BLATANTLY holding. Every single pass attempt warranted an easy 10 yards. But for some reason Trojan-nation seems to think it was a very pro-Michigan officiating crew. Sounds like sour grapes more than anything.
Lol..."Every single pass attempt warranted 10 yards"....against a team who threw the ball 12 times or so for 20 yards? You raise amorphous (you can look that up) penalties on Michigan pass plays, while I can easily raise less amorphous missed holding calls on Michigan's offensive line, including the non-amorphous hold on 4th & 2 to get in the end zone a the end of the game. More to the point, as someone who sent many people to prison in my legal career, I got very specific about non-amorphous things - blatant, missed calls in the game...2 facemasks on Miller Moss, a clear blindside hit on Makai Lemon, the play clock running out at least twice, and an horrific spot on the 4th and 1 in the first quarter at midfield that should have been a turnover. If you want to debate me, bring some specifics. You can be glad you won the game, but you are watching with maze in your eyes. You can't leave a game up to the refs, but that doesn't blatant incompetence shouldn't be mentioned. That crew needs some scrutiny, especially if they are calling more Michigan home game.
I’m now catching up with the podcasts. I was in concussion protocol since the game ended. Yup, I still recall that we gave this game away. Coaching was not up to par. I feel your pain and your analysis is spot on. On to Monday episode.
this guy spent a lot of time indirectly blaming the officials for the loss. there were egregious missed calls that went in usc's favor as well but every fan base focuses only on the ones that hurt them
The problem was that he was not allowed to play his game, which is pushing the ball down the field. They needed to put a tight end in to block from the beginning. He got so much pressure that he lost a bit of his confidence. Miller will be fine if Riley just lets him play and stops being so conservative in his play calls.
We needed the tackles from the portal over the summer. Lincoln needs to focus on trench recruiting now. Also, time stop the “elite player caller” tag for Lincoln. He doesn’t to understand situational football. Typical ineffective WR screens, WR pass, and dumb shovel passes.
Again just like last year. Offensive line just was awful. Quarterback had no time to throw running backs had no holes to run.offense not going to work if line not blocking. They look slow with D ends going around them every play. Something has to be done with line play or going to be another Disastrous year
Z Branch is playing to conservative on his Punt returns. True, he had space and was calling for a fair catch. Did he get his bell rung earlier this year. He looks tentative out there. And his route on the pick six was his fault. He was drifting back on a six yard hitch. If he squares up W Johnson would have had to come over the top to knock the ball down. He made a great read and broke on it. I guess thats why he’s considered one of the best. But he made it look easy
I enjoy your program Marc! That was quite an atmosphere at the Big House yesterday- one of the loudest games I’ve ever been to. Michigan was bullying USC for a while but I thought they responded well in the 2nd half. Moss is one tough guy - tip of the cap to him: he was great all evening despite getting hit repeatedly. That pick six was a killer but he played great otherwise I thought. I’m sure it’s little consolation but I have a much more positive opinion of USC than I did coming in to this game and certainly at any point last season. Michigan has a lot of flaws and despite questionable coaching decisions they played the style they needed to in order to win. Welcome to the Big Ten!
I think they need to dive in this game an look at it from head officials of big ten cause this was unacceptable. They were targeting a they were taking players out I believe there was a lot more to this then we think . For refs to call not one penalty is the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen
@@joeydale3754 - agreed. they missed about two dozen blatant holding calls against the Trojans O line. Hardly a single pass play USC wasn’t blatantly holding. They couldn’t stop Michigan’s pass rush any other way. Trojans should have easily racked up a hundred or so yards additional in penalties.
Put the more athletic quarterback in game.. make him the starter. Teams that don’t have quarterbacks that aren’t a running threat don’t win championships especially when they don’t have great offensive line protection
Thanks Marc. You are spot on with your review of what occured. VERY frustrating to also see Z. Branch fair catch being SUCH a weapon to change the game!!
I feel your pain Marc. This was definitely a game that we should have won. The offensive play calling or lack thereof was horrendous. This is unacceptable for Lincoln Riley considering that he had 2 weeks to prepare for this game. We cannot afford to have wasted drives where the offense looks confused and unprepared. We were unable to capitalize on our opportunities on offense. The defense gave up a couple of big plays but had the offense done their part those big plays would not have been as detrimental. Lincoln Riley's inability to use a challenge when needed has got to change as well. I am sick and tired of watching this team lose to Inferior opponents. The clock is ticking on Lincoln Riley. He needs to rise to the challenge and do better.
You've hit all the issues on the nail. Michigan had no business winning that game. You have the ball with four minutes to go and the lead and blow the game. Back to the tight end kid. I know he's trying but the kid has zero wheels. He seems to stop and wait for the defender to come at him instead of lowering his shoulders and running somebody over. I've seen molasses drip quicker than him.. Michigan has given all the other B10 schools the blue print to scheme against USC.
@@DontbeahaterbeaHatton Media will not touch that question, riley has them under control. If riley devoted 10% of his media energy to his play calling, WE WOULD HAVE WON! yep, I been saying it for weeks.
I agree, Mark. This is also one Dan and Lynn. He didn’t suffocate the run and dare them to pass like he should have. He gave them room to run. He bought and it was clear. He was timid. But overall, it’s on Riley. He had the biggest egg lay of all of them
I feel your frustrations. I’m a dedicated loyal Michigan fan there’s a lot of what if’s on both ends like what if Michigan had a decent quarterback who could throw this game probably wouldn’t have even been close let’s keep it real like I said I understand your fanbase frustration. It was a good game. Sometimes you lose games in that fashion time to tighten up the laces and fix mistakes, good luck the rest of the season GO BLUE!!!! I agree that the refs blew a lot of calls, but it was on both ends. There was a lot of holding going on for dear life on the USC o-line that was missed as well it wasn’t just one way
After giving this game away, there should be an ongoing open competition in practice for every position on offense, including qb1. Dennis Simmons needs to reshuffle the starting receiver group. Waaay too many drops. Riley needs to hire an offensive coordinator, give up playcalling duties, and concentrate on being the HC. His situational awareness is horrible. USC had 2 weeks to prepare for a one-dimensional michigan team. Did Riley and his offensive coaches look at the Texas vs michigan game film and take what Sark was successful at using offensively and make it part of the game plan??? This loss is totally unacceptable, and completely on Riley and his offensive coaches. I hope there is a current emphasis on bringing in 4 & 5 star offensive linemen. The current group of offensive linemen under Henson's tutelage is trash. There needs to be some coaching changes on the offensive side of the ball. That is abundantly clear. ✌🏾
When you are as committed in your job to something it is understandable that you are frustrated. I listen and spend time learning about the team and feel like I wasted my time but realize Sunday morning that the world spins on.
We couldn't stop an offense that was one dimensional. Our "O" line was not up to task. No killer instinct, when we had the ball and the lead we went 3 & out. As a John McKay Trojan, this is not USC Football. Lame ON!
As a 49er fan LR turned into Kyle Shannahan in Big Games... It's crazy how identical too .. What we say "Run The Ball Kyle" "Don't get cute Kyle" .. "Just do what you have been doing to get you here Kyle"
another excellent summation and I feel your frustration on all those different talking points. This game should have never been lost and Marc is right. Bad coaching! Many non calls against UM as well. A one dimensional team at best. We better learn from this one!!!
@@Trojanmanno1 - you don’t want to play thr game of “penalties not called.” You will lose that. Take a look at any USC pass play and you will likely see BLATANT holding every single time. More than a dozen or so easy and blatant non-calls.
@@cimirie01 I hear what you're saying. I wasn't saying we l lost cuz of those non calls. Now that didn't help and there were a number of them not called. UM had no holding calls the entire game. And no teams ever hold the entire game without getting caught. To say that something is likely, is not affirmation at all, but an assumption. And I'm sure SC got away with a few as well. But let's get beyond the penalties and no matter how we slice it>SC lost cuz of some bad O line play, (give UM some credit there>they're good on the line) And also poor play calling by LR. More vertical passing game should have been employed. Should have been more rollouts by the QB, less runs up the gut, (cuz they didn't work agains UMs quality line), bad calls when throwing to the flat using a slow tight end, and no protection for our QB, which is why SC should have been rolling him. Also, SC should be using the old student body left/right. SC did not adjust where it needed to>On offense. That's on LR.
HE FOUND HIS DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR!! When USC got the ball back with 4 mins left the game was suppose to be over!! You can’t go three and out Lincoln 🤦🏾♂️
They were getting pressure with a 4 man rush. I was surprised it wasn't worse with the way our O-line played! That Big Defensive Lineman they had was a monster! He thought he had a touchdown instead he ended up handing it off to us!
Hey Marc, good analysis on game. I do not want to sound negative as I am frustrated over the game too but Michigan had a game plan and we did not have a game plan. Michigan stayed with their game plan and we did not adjust with our play calling during the game. So much for Lincoln as a great offensive coordinator. His play calling was conservative. I almost think it is time to let the offensive coordinator call the game and let Lincoln call time outs during the game. .
I notice a pattern with Miller-he has decided who he’s going to throw to and doesn’t notice that there’s a defensive player that’s too close and ready to intercept. It could be that he felt pressured, but he needs to be ready to use an alternate and safer plan. If the offensive tackles are having issues, they need to use the tight ends to assist with blocking. Coach Riley should be ready to make quicker adjustments and have alternate plans in case things aren’t going as planned. If they are having issues with offensive execution, maybe they should huddle & give feedback as to what’s the issue so they are ready to make adjustments if they are being overpowered by speed or strength. As for targeting or face-masking, can coach Riley challenge with a timeout and ask for a review? On defense, with the long runs, it seemed that no one was back there in case a rusher broke through. Do they ever look at their mistakes and practice correcting for them? If they aren’t doing so, upcoming teams will be ready to exploit those mistakes and weaknesses.
I would agree with that to a certain extent or non-call horse collar that was a disgrace some referees need to be bounce out on their teachers and go referee pee wee football or something
I'm still pissed off, too. Saban would have milked the clock and yelled at Kiffin for calling a pass play with the ball and just 4 minutes left. Kids are going to make some mistakes. Coaches, though, what was Riley thinking? And why throw sideways when you can throw vertical? How many yards did they get from all of their screens? Six total?
Marc I am also so angry . There is no way we should have lost this game . This game pissed me off more than any game in the last two and a half years . But because of pop warner coaching they lost . Riley screwed this pooch from not having a solid game plan , not having them get there a few days prior , Riley coaching cost them a tight end injury and lucky not the QB . Everything you said I agree with you . I woke up at 5:30 am to watch this mess . Until Riley gets his act together I won’t be waking up early again to watch this mess . It was pathetic ! Anyway Marc I feel your anger . What else can you say .
Seems like against good defenses, Lincoln Riley offense are a no show. Norte Dame last year a good defense Lincoln offense a no show. Ucla last year, a good defense, Lincoln offense a no show. LSU not great but has nfl talent, Lincoln Riley offense struggled and now Michigan a good defense Lincoln Riley offense a no show.
USC #7 messed up on all 3 of Michigan's long runs. Go watch the replays of all 3. USC #7 rushed in too soon at the wrong angle each time. Somebody should teach USC #7 that sometimes you have to read the play before rushing in, especially if he plays the safety position, he needs to figure out what's going on before rushing in at the wrong approach angle.
100% right I knew not to be confident in this game. Riley has to look himself in the mirror & start preparing better. It’s time for him to give up play calling because he has regressed. I can finally admit sark is better play caller than Riley
USC is still a very good team. It’s not easy to play in The Big House. As a Michigan fan I’m over the moon! But I want to give the Trojans their due. I know that this loss hurts. Welcome to The Big 10. GO BLUE!
As a Michigan fan I had very low expectations this season, given how much starting talent they lost. We should not have won this game! It’s tough to say your team is not very good, but after watching this, I watched 2 teams that aren’t very good
Idk man I wanna say that to but damn Michigan literally couldn't throw which hurts more to see we all could see Michigan was just gonna run and those big runs just don't sit well with me . But I do see improvement but again a team who couldn't throw best us hurts man.
@@noworriesbehappymr.x7681 I hear you. The thing is that we lost due to mental mistakes and some poor officiating. We could have won! The team is truly fighting to get better.
I remarked last week how riley's side of the ball is the problem and how he needs to get that fixed, including himself. Catch Able's continue to get dropped; time continues to be left on the clock, to opponent's delight. Thank you, defense you did not lose us the game.
Michigan won this game on 4 plays. Two long runs for a TD. One pick six and the long run that set up the winning drive. The frustrating part is two different players should have tackled him to the ground and failed. Michigan could not score on any sustained drives in the second half and USC completely controlled the game. Very frustrating loss especially when you beat yourself. 🤷🏻♂️
This was the perfect game to do the old school 4 x 4 on defense. They never went 4 wide. Man up and force Orji to make. A play. They threw 7 passes all game. It's ridiculous. We just lost to a glorified Academy team (Army or Navy) won't even put Air Force in there!
SC's dud three-&-out on its penultimate possession wasn't so much a consequence of poor play-calling (although in general Riley's calls all day were too conservative; aside from the attempted double pass, which - while incomplete - was a nice idea). It was due to the utter collapse/no-show of the Trojans O-line, which hardly gave Moss enough time even to panic (though he still managed to do so). Leaving questionable/uninspired plays to one side, Riley's great fiasco this game, as a head coach, was what Kulkin mentioned: Failing to ask for Reviews of non-calls - a great many (if not All) of which would've gone SC's way - as well as not challenging the bogus spot for a Michigan first down immediatetly preceding its first TD. Even without five minutes of game stoppage for the guys in the booth to get their act together, a head-shot on your Star Receiver (or on anyone) should've triggered a request for review - which in this case would surely have brought a targeting penalty, with its attendant ejection, 15-yard loss, and perhaps most important, the message it would have sent to the Wolverines, likely deterring some of the face-masks, horse-collars, and other illegal tactics they'd go on to employ with impunity. As for Branch - very puzzling. Last year he seemed Allergic to calling fair catches; now he appears at times to call them automatically - even on Kickoffs! (He did get his clock cleaned, though - after another missed block - when he finally elected to make a return, getting drilled even more visciously than he did against Utah State.)
Riley did terrible with play calling. Moss looked scared all night. Moss is so immobile. Should have put Miava in for that game. Every TD by Mich was a result of major holding with no calls. Wtf was Kamari thinking on that last long drive? Gentry had the RB all wrapped up and Kamari could have destroyed him but ran by the RB and let him run 60 yrds.
Yes, Marc, we are ALL upset about this game especially when we could have EASILY won it. However, we all knew before the season started if we split LSU/Mich and start the season 2-1, we would be good. Let's learn from today and move on...we still have A LOT to play for this year. Fight On! ✌

The O line is the biggest problem and I don’t know if the coaching or the players or both. Defense gave up 290 yards running that a problem and I believe they gave 3 running plays of 40 yards or more. Miller Moss needs to be a little bit more mobile he was a sitting duck

Marc, you are 100% spot on with your post game analysis.
clr, because he doesn't deserve caps on his abbreviation anymore, can't manage clock to save his life.
That was the worst OL performance in the the last two decades that I’ve spent watching this team 🤬
@@arcanefilth49nah the worst was against Ohio State in 2017
with CLR he's got two more years before getting canned no matter how embarrassing it gets.
We do not deserve to win this game. We got out coached and our OL got beat up.
It’s always the refs. Someone else said it was the crowd and the announcers. Yep
@@8339-x6u Defense wins championships, see the interception by michigan in the 2and half.
Somebody tell Riley u pass to score u run to win the game!
I think the O line coach should be on the hot seat watch, I don’t see improvement at all ..
@@jaimeperez853 yeah, we need to start having a conversation about the lack of development and just the horrible job Henson is doing.
All due respect must go to MI pass rush schemes.
Here are why we lost in order: No Killer Instincts, Soft Play Calling, OL no presence, Unreliable WRs, Moss doesn't take command, Blind Refs.
Right on target…. Now for the solutions 🤔

If you’re complaining about the officiating in this game wait until USC plays Ohio State. You’ll question your sanity. 😂
For sure
😂😂😂
Came here to say the same thing 😂
Said that multiple times already! For real!
We've been dealing with that for years against ND. Nobody gets the calls like the Irish.
Riley’s playcalling was atrocious. D got us the ball back so many times and Riley just gave it right back with terrible play calls. D’anton Lynn should be the head coach.
Precisely! That one drive we had from the turnover should have resulted in a field goal, which would have put us up 7 and we’d be going to ot.

I've seen those tears before, I'm so sorry Lake, damn you worked so hard.
ALL ON rILEY!
Facts the D held their own between the bad O-Line & the trash Refs thats where the problem was
It was a learning experience for all of us. On Wisconsin! ✌️
Between Lincoln poor play calling and the refs idk what was worse it was fucking unacceptable . Poor tackling and piss poor oline .
Lincoln clearly believes in his offensive play calling hype.
You’re right: the refs missed calling holding on the Trojans pretty much every single pass play. Blatant holding. Couldn’t stop the pass rush any other way and they weren’t subtle about it.
I thought the drops were more damaging than the pick-6 and the big plays the defense gave up.
Once again not trusting the running backs despite how well they played Woody Marks & Quinten Joyner had 7.7 yards an attemp. might have cost USC a game. officials are now working in the
I think the Pac-12 officales are now working in the Big Ten.
What bothered me most is the 4th down right before Michigan’s first TD. Michigan was clearly short and Riley didn’t challenge the spot. Instead of a takeaway, Michigan busted out a big run on the next play for a TD
THIS!!
This loss is on Lincoln Riley. Terrible game management and play calling.
Fight On ! On to the next home game vs. B10 Wisconsin
USC's offensive line was mauled and shoved into a locker. That wasn't a 3TD loss for USC because Miller Moss is a baller.
Hang in there Marc. We lost too. You guys played a great game. A lot of positives.
MMoss… was on his back a lot. And his throwing release was slow and lack of mobility hurt SC
Move the kid, bloody move him some.
I’m now catching up with the podcasts. I was in concussion protocol since the game ended. Yup, I still recall that we gave this game away. Coaching was not up to par. I feel your pain and your analysis is spot on. On to Monday episode.
Marc the O line needs improvement big time. Moss was getting hit too often
Lincoln loss this game with awful play calling. Oline play didn't help either.
That's why you roll Miller from time to time.
I called it how close this would be. I called a 3 point game, but thought it would be usc on top. This one hurts!
this guy spent a lot of time indirectly blaming the officials for the loss. there were egregious missed calls that went in usc's favor as well but every fan base focuses only on the ones that hurt them

The problem was that he was not allowed to play his game, which is pushing the ball down the field. They needed to put a tight end in to block from the beginning. He got so much pressure that he lost a bit of his confidence. Miller will be fine if Riley just lets him play and stops being so conservative in his play calls.
Guy couldn’t throw 5 yards down field… I’m sorry, but that’s embarrassing
We needed the tackles from the portal over the summer. Lincoln needs to focus on trench recruiting now. Also, time stop the “elite player caller” tag for Lincoln. He doesn’t to understand situational football. Typical ineffective WR screens, WR pass, and dumb shovel passes.
Isn't Pete Carroll on Campus...big 10 Refs do not like pac 12
The largest college football stadium in the country is enough to intimidate any team. Noise? Oh yeah there's that.
Lincoln Riley is not a top notch coach. He is an above average coach.
Everyone could say it wasn’t moss fault but he missed wide open passes and it was sad
Don't worry Marc, we're all mad just like you.
That 3 and Out late was ridiculous.
Exactly... why didn't Riley try to run some clock? So dumb

It was a good game. Sometimes you lose games in that fashion time to tighten up the laces and fix mistakes, good luck the rest of the season GO BLUE!!!! I agree that the refs blew a lot of calls, but it was on both ends. There was a lot of holding going on for dear life on the USC o-line that was missed as well it wasn’t just one way
Great point on Lake. They definitely need to use him much more wisely. Vertically, as you said.
Don’t give the defense that much credit. Couldn’t hold a 1 dimensional, barely ranked Michigan offenders under 17 points.

Really rough loss, Marc. I don’t have any nice words but Fight On!

Spot on with the defense! 11:20 can’t even be hard on the defense cause where they were 12 months ago even when they was 5-0 lol
They were getting pressure with a 4 man rush. I was surprised it wasn't worse with the way our O-line played! That Big Defensive Lineman they had was a monster! He thought he had a touchdown instead he ended up handing it off to us!
He was giving you guys a chance and usc still blew it lmao
Hey Marc, good analysis on game. I do not want to sound negative as I am frustrated over the game too but Michigan had a game plan and we did not have a game plan. Michigan stayed with their game plan and we did not adjust with our play calling during the game. So much for Lincoln as a great offensive coordinator. His play calling was conservative. I almost think it is time to let the offensive coordinator call the game and let Lincoln call time outs during the game. .
I was angry as well. Yet, I believe this team will make playoffs. Fingers crossed!
Moss should always know where THAT defender is.
I would agree with that to a certain extent or non-call horse collar that was a disgrace some referees need to be bounce out on their teachers and go referee pee wee football or something
Bc it wasn’t a horse collar tackle
@Jleed989 let try that shit on you let me see what you say then
I'm still pissed off, too.

Also, as Big as USC has gotten, they need to get bigger and stronger still!!
Michigan didn't even bring back a single offensive starter from last year... that's got to be the most disconcerting thing going forward...
Fight On! ✌
@@paulk.4261 - Easily “could” have won it sounds like something you tell yourself when you didn’t actually play well enough to win to make you feel better. An airplane could have easily fallen out of the sky if gravity stopped working for a bit. But, that didn’t happen. Nor could it EASILY have happened. But have fun telling yourself that.
The O line is the biggest problem and I don’t know if the coaching or the players or both. Defense gave up 290 yards running that a problem and I believe they gave 3 running plays of 40 yards or more. Miller Moss needs to be a little bit more mobile he was a sitting duck
