I personally kind of like the short lull in content - gives me a chance to farm a little more on Arena and just take a little breather and play a few other games (Sonic Frontiers!).
Just as a bit of context, the reasoning for it being pushed back was due to someone getting the virus so physical interaction wouldn't have been ideal at all. That's why the stream is delayed although I'm not 100% sure on it correlating with the normal content stream honestly. I wouldn't be surprised if it had a connection tho
It 100% does and thank you for saying that, just people don't get content for a week, they think the game is dead and later on they cry when there's too many new units per week lmao
@@Otc217 There is a difference between people being upset about there being no content and people being upset about there being no banners. Use your brain. No banner this week is great but no content(story, quests, arena etc) is pretty bad. There is fk all to do in this game already.
You’re right, it does seem a bit odd to have nothing this week. We are still missing plenty of character including 4 stars. My best guess is they are doing a lot for the half anniversary coming up. Revenue for mobile games can be volatile, just look at granblue. The next couple months leading up to Octopath 2 can be big, depending on how they’re going to do the marketing.
It's normal for gacha games to fluctuate a lot between months. Because people tend to save up and spend more on specific units. You'll see a bump in January for JP due to the Elrica and Araune EX banners for sure. By that logic, however, sales should be booming in December for EN due to Cyrus alone. But we did a poll on this earlier, and it seems that over 50% of the players had saved enough to pity Cyrus! That means 50% of people probably not willing to spend anything! And to still gain a profit at that time is quite something!
And global know in advance who's coming and not, so people know in advance who they need to pull or not. At 1 point, we're gonna get so many limited units that we're not gonna have time to save (unless you're that dedicated to save for your favorite like Shizukatz) so there's definitely some cash to get there too and of course for OT2.
@@Otc217 It's a great point that knowing some things in advance change our behavior in Global. We can plan better and like me, a casual spender, I wait for the beset deals before I spend anything.
@SirMrCl3an Yeah, they at least made the 1st step of the Cyrus one 100 paid rubies, which is pretty good compared to the usual 300, hope it stays like that, so the low spenders get at least some value. Still waiting that they make a good battle pass, i would gladly support the game. At least they listen to their playerbase and make some changes compared to JP. Honestly, i can't have enough of Octopath, it's such an amazing series.
I guess I just find it strange in a world where it's normal to say gacha games "just want your money" and how bad Square's monetization is. That there are weeks where they give zero incentive to purchase anything and no additional reasons to login. Now there's still tons to do in the game and I wasn't rolling on any new banner anyway. So logically speaking it makes no difference to me personally. Just an odd business decision in my opinion.
It's not really mind boggling, when New Year's hit, they set up gifts for the week in the inbox. Not a problem with me, more time to do some farming 🙌🏼
I think I missed being clear in the video on my position personally. A week with nothing added doesn't bother me at all. I have plenty of content to complete and no rubies to use on a new banner anyway. The part that confuses me is the business aspect. Why would they choose to just not have any reason to spend money for a week as a gacha game that clearly could use more chances at revenue. However, without seeing their balance sheet it's impossible to say for sure anything.
@@TeucentGaming Ur right, I completely understand. Seeing stuff like that in gacha games is rare 'cause usually there's always updates every week, but with this one it's confusing so I get where ur coming from
I believe the upcoming stream wasn’t supposed to be a content stream. I believe last time they did say it was just a stream to correlate with the cafe over in JP having the Octopath theme, so it being pushed back wouldn’t really affect the game much, unless they decide to change what they said before.
I dont mind an empty week. Plus they still have that ny banner. I know it's strange for a gacha with empty week banner to spend on. Not sure if financially they're having trouble already or maybe preparing for something good later on. Dunno, but things at this point, im glad im not spending a dime in this game since im not sure about its future. I'll just try and finish up MoA until ch8 this weekend since im at ch5 currently so i can still get that free 5*. I'm just happy fire emblem engage is coming real soon and octopath 2 is as well.
I've gotten so many new characters this month that I can't catch up on leveling. I've got one group getting 15 guidestones from hunts and a totally different group going after Caits. Then again, it took me 160 days to get my first character to level 100 because of waiting for guidestones. I will be estatic if one of the new updates provides a way to get more of them.
All their ingame monetization is bad tbh. Im a whale in other gatchas, but in octopath none of the packs seems worthy, they all have very bad cost/benefit (the "seasonal" cup packs gives worthless acessories and cost the same as the regular big ones lol). Also: No battlepass, no hollyday/event special packs and low summons/$ spent on ALL ingame packs.
I've cleared most of the game's content (I have three character storylines to finish & the second chapter of Bestower of Power), so I'd like to see more content. At this point I am only logging in to level up the characters I have. I won't spend money to pull characters (I have a pulling strategy that's served me well), but I'd be willing to pay a small monthly subscription fee to keep this game going. I know they won't do that, btw.
They have 2 monthly subscription in JP: 1 for 10 days and one for 30 days. The most "valuable" one is the 30 days cost 300 rubies, and you get 1 sacred traveler seal, 2x item sold to the weapon shop, 2x exp, 2x leaves, 2x exp for pets, additional team slots, 1 lvl up berry per day, you can sleep wherever you want 3x time (sleep in the inn to refresh the amount) and additional guidestone via hunts.
Love you video bro About the video i agree with you they need to do some new daily staff so is make sense play everyday many people like me alredy did EVERYTHING and find no sense open the game for 10 rubies they promise a lot for January and was nothing out there 10 rubies for few things and 88 for pity is nothing!!! How i can play if i dont have character? Or daily quest make sene to do it they need to find a solution the number in the video are clear something is not working.. still amazing game i played 376 hours
I don't think that the moneys are an issue because all the money that they made with the global version are free, due to the fact that the only work that they need to do is the translation. The real work is on the JP side, where they have to release new content, so the only income you should care about are on the JP side, and they just release Elrica ed Araune EX...💰💰💰
Global versions of games are 99% cry babies, if a game doesn't make 10M a month, it's dead. There's OT2 there's still the antagonist from bestower to be made (minus Tatloch) there's still a lot more to cash on so I wouldn't worry about that
For sure.. I said that the first time we had a week off, and the week off in itself isn't an issue at all. Logically we should be able to have this mindset, take it easy for a week and come back playing more the next. That's the rational mindset and an easy one to have for f2p (like myself) since most weeks 'content' is just another banner. The point of my ramblings was that I don't understand why a game with this much future content and unreleased units would have off weeks, especially when it's revenue reflects poorly when it does and the game is already having retention issues.
We need more rubies maybe we some new feets i have all done alredy so is hard get some new rubies and a the list a permanent 1 guide free at day because is only 2% chance and if you get a charter you alredy have is frustating and you need to be a lucky person... I was thinking to restart with the japan version i waste to many rubies unfortunately can you give me advise if is good idea or not ?
You shouldn't play octopath if you're that addicted to summon. The JP is the same thing. Nothing is different except for more units and more content. They give the same amount of daily, weekly rubies.
@@Otc217 no addiction 3 or 4 stars some new characters to use that's it and make new feets the only one left is few 2 rubies for the battle and 10 for some extra blattle is really little so then i find myself without any feets to unlock is boring i like the game is just get stock
@Michael Guidi They will release the missing 4☆ later on. Unfortunately, you're not gonna get a new unit every time, and unless you're a whale, you're not gonna have enough rubies to guide for them anyway. We always get new feats when a new chapter get released, so there's that too.
they are just way too greedy with the price of the rubies. I spent $50 to spark Cyrus (on top of the free rubies) but it just felt really low value compared to many other games. I mean you could get the octopath II game with this much but in cotc it's not even enough to spark one character. I'm ready to quit if they don't drop more content soon. Give us the towers at least
I'm really hoping to see some special collab with OT2. Would be super hype and drive sales and new/returning players. Which is what we all want to see.
TLDR: Nice video but reddit rant posts are often misguided IMHO. A week without content is no big deal and there's a lot of revenue not accounted for. I think you would want to at least add to that the advertisement revenue from the ad cait and the ad loot. That's maybe 6x2=12 million ads played on EN that f2p's also "pay". In any case, the week off could just be some code freeze due to their devs being on vacations or sth. I should be mad since I have a few days free atm, I have completed all content including the level 100 NPCs , practically all 2 ruby battle feats, all traveler stories and got all arena champs to lvl100. There's a LOT of both high and low level content that can fuel rubies that I doubt everyone complaining have done.
100% agree. I wish they could do something with the ads too, to make even more revenue while satisfying the player. Rework for the rewards, 5 ads exp, 5 for items, when you watch the 10 ads, you get 10 rubies and gold guidestone and a monthly ads watch where you get 50 rubies and gold guidestone.
Yeah, reddit just be reddit. Though in the two years of wotv I don't remember any completely 'dead' weeks. I just find it odd and that it gives players the opportunity to break the login habit.
Other than the monetization, i don't really understand the complaints here. 1 week without content is perfectly fine, that let people save rubies and catch up with the story and other things. They're clearly listening to the playerbase if they want to make changes, they have all the information that they need, and honestly, i wouldn't care about what reddit talk about, they're constantly bitching and crying 24/7 and when a game is not making 10M a month, game is dead lmao, what a bunch of clowns.
Reddit is too doom and gloom for me, but I do like the discussions/topics held there at times. The audience on UA-cam is vastly different and it's good to see the varied viewpoints. At the end of the day we as consumers have no idea how much money they need/want the game to make so we can't really make solid judgements, however, I just plain would like more things to hype the community up with. Hopefully the next few videos out will do that, and fingers crossed we get a hype tavern talk on the 13th.
Unfortunately I believe the next stream they stated was just a cooking stream to correlate with the JP cafe having a CotC theme, so unless something changes there shouldn’t be any content shown in that stream.
@Teucent Mobile Gaming Yeah, I really dislike Reddit. Of course With the exception of a couple of people, the rest are just a bunch of whiners. The next stream is gonna be the cooking stream, maybe the 18th is the half anniversary.
Cyrus definitely the increase lol. those rich ***** no content this week RIP, with the accelerated schedule vs JP, I bet we are getting NIER colab this month or feb at the latest - remember I called it :D and I wouldn't really call it AAA quality with characters that get 2 lines of voice audio and it's not even localized to English :| I wouldn't worry so much, lots of f2p players due to rubies being too expensive and with a whip of the magical colab wand people will come back regardless
Agree 100 percent on the Reddit post. They need to stop catering to whales only. I have spent quite a bit on this game and have had generally poor luck. It is extremely rare that I find value in the packs with strange price points. The inconsistency in banners and difficulty in obtaining characters that have dupe options is not fun. It also feels like certain banners feel rigged. Al of this made me pause and reevaluate my spending and commitment to this game.
Agree on the off-week issues. There really shouldn't be any off weeks especially for holidays. These should be re-planned and not just have a nothing week because of people are on vacations?
There's always something to do in Cotc. Did you farm the BT weapons, enemy feats, leaves, exp ? We literally just got the new story and a big Cyrus, What else do you want ? Richard ? So that people say that they are greedy and cry about that all day ? It's a jrpg, it's meant to be played at your own pace it's not a fucking marathon where you get new content 24/7. If you need new content just wait till we catch up to JP where you will need to play the board game, farm leaves, tower and all other things.
Personally I think of this as a side game rather than a main game, playing it for the dailies and any content I have left over, so a week with no content isn’t really a big deal. I don’t really think any gacha game really should cause such an uproar due to a single week with no content
