    It’s a rad feature I was asking them to do AFF for stills and they ended up going “why just make it focus full time we will just make it shoot on it’s own”. This is a game changer for remote cameras. No more needing to fight for pocket wizard frequencies at press events or running long cables. It’s so customizable it really puts to ease any issues being so automatic and this is gen 1 of this feature exciting to see where it goes from here

      It does drain the battery a lot faster though so make sure it’s hooked up externally if you expect to do it for a long period of time.

    That’s a good demo of the new auto-capture in Nikon Z9. I’ve been having fun with photographing birds in my backyard, too. And in the coming days, I’ll be testing out on aircraft to see how it performs.

      Thanks Dee! It's kind of neat to be able to see these birds and chipmunks in detail...and to think I captured them as I did my work elsewhere is great. Let me know how the aircraft goes. That airplane tracking mode is awesome on the Z 8.

      @@taku_kumabe Indeed! Which is why I'm going to set up the Z9 with auto-capture on a tripod, and hand-hold the Z8 in aircraft detection mode. I'm hoping Nikon will receive the message to put both these features in the Z9 (if not both Z8 and Z9) in firmware update 4.1 ;)

      @@deepotter6774 Oh I'm sure they're getting the same sentiments from all over regarding the feature-sets from the Z 8 and Z 9! Only time will tell!

      @@taku_kumabe Agreed! And thankfully Nikon has proven they listen to us when we speak up about these things. Their commitment to firmware and software updates, especially since the launch of the Z-series cameras, has been incredible! The new Z8 is the culmination of so many wish-list items for hybrid-content creators, and the latest firmware update 4.0 for the Z9 makes that camera leaps and bounds better and almost I unrecognizable compared to the 1.0 version Z9 of 2021. All we have to do is keep them informed, and Nikon goes into action. 😊

    It’s interesting what the technology can do, the combination of auto capture and silent shooter can really do wonders in terms not disturbing nature. Clearly patience and a 600mm lens can do it too.

    • @taku_kumabe
      @taku_kumabe  Рік тому

      It sure is. To be honest I'm surprised they heard the shutter sound through all the construction noise that was present in the background too...and yes with a lot of patience, a long lens, and a blind!

    Wow, that's an awesome variety of animals. It is interesting to me how they seem to look at the camera, maybe thinking, what is that? lol

    • @taku_kumabe
      @taku_kumabe  Рік тому

      Good observation. I left my shutter sound on very low. So when it takes the burst shots it likely made enough noise to turn their heads but not enough to actually scare them away.

    This was an application I never even considered with the rise of subject detection modes but it all makes perfect sense and is so handy. I'm looking forward to a future firmware update for my Z8. Just to clarify - this only works in JPG and not RAW? Also is it possible to trigger flash?

    • @taku_kumabe
      @taku_kumabe  Рік тому +1

      That's correct. For now it's only in JPG. I don't see why they couldn't enable RAW with fewer number of images captured, but only time will tell if that is possible. I suppose if the flash is on the camera, it will be triggered any time the camera takes a photo. I've never tried this though.

    Looks like you have the same problem as me with my Z9. That rubber eyepiece seems to keep separating from the viewfinder. I have to keep pushing it back on.

    • @taku_kumabe
      @taku_kumabe  Рік тому

      Haha, thanks for noticing. That’s my second rubber eyepiece too. I had it replaced once already. I think it happens because I always put pressure on it with my eye and the eyepiece also rubs against the walls in my bag at times too. It comes off way too easily imo.

    I used my 800mm PF , however i cannot set a closer distance . I can only set at 16m , can’t set closer

      @joseftimar5087 Рік тому +1

      Hi, your experience corresponding with that of mein. I tested it also with 2x converter, the minimal distance was that way 32m (not 5m as regular… It seems as the minimal distance for other as zoom lenses („prime“) is the 20x focal length. For zooms it varies according to the changing focal length, but in a different way. Nothing written about this issue in the manual for 4.0 („addendum“)…on the Nikon page.

    • @taku_kumabe
      @taku_kumabe  Рік тому

      I am not entirely sure of the reasoning but as @joseftimar5087 says, the minimum distance is approximately 20x the focal length.

    Any chance Z6ii will get this feature?

      @taku_kumabe  Рік тому

      The processing power of the Z 6ii is lower than that of the Z 8 and 9 so very unlikely that will happen, is my guess.
