You asked about thread waxers. Just something to consider. When i used wax it left. Residue on my thread that discolored the thread. So much so that you could see a definite line where i stopped using it. So rather than the wax or thread conditioners it is just as effective to run your thread over a damp sponge. Just something to consider
Thank you very much for the shout out❤️❤️. It is much appreciated

I think we are all guilty of underestimating how many stitches are needed to complete a motif/area! I can’t get on with Mark up RXP either - think it's user error on my part though! When you come to do the deer, there's a wrong colour in the antlers, so check their website for what the correct colour should be. Good luck with the kitchen refit x

Lots of lovely stitching Zoë. Re waxing thread - I only ever wax thread when I am doing gold work where the couching thread needs to be strong, or the cotton when I am hand-piecing patchwork for the same reason. I have never used wax or any other conditioner on cross stitching threads as I figure it’s strong enough and would dull the finish. So interesting that you use it regularly. I think either way you only need a tiny amount on the thread.
Also re the kitchen. I have had this done twice. They won’t turn the water off so you’ll be fine filling kettles etc - workmen never allow a situation where they can’t have tea! Also you just put essentials including microwave etc on a table and eat off paper plates for the week - it’ll be a nuisance but fine. Headphones for the noise though.

@alisonowen8547 I'm wondering if I've just got into the habit of it after using it so much when hand sewing. I like the smoothness it gives to the thread, it also straightens it after I've had it on a bobbin for so long. Maybe I need to wean myself off of it 😂
Although Karen mentioned that you can tell where you have+haven't used it, so I might have to keep using it on my current projects, and then not use it at all on any new stuff 🤔

@ that’s why I don’t do bobbins - too many kinks. But if I do need to tame a thread I just run it through a damp j-cloth - does the trick.

It's so frustrating when chart designers pick poor symbols. Unless the chart is a max colors type chart, it's totally unreasonable to use similar symbols.
In charts with 30 or less symbols it's extra frustrating because 26 alphabet letters, 26 capital letters, 10 numbers, plus at least 14 symbols are standard keyboard options. Take out the o, O and 0, l and I and you still get 60+ symbols to pick from before looking for specialized symbols.
If a designer needs to use similar symbols, at least make the colors super distinctive...like neon pink vs black or bright blue vs brown. Don't make us struggle between 677 and ecru.

Exactly! And I forgot to mention, but that chart only has 25 colours. They could have 100% just used the alphabet! 😅
I expect my animal kingdom one, with 237 colours, to have similar symbols, but this one? Definitely not. I'm glad this is the only chart I have that's got a symbol issue!
