This is the Franz Beyer version that was at the point of this recording probably the best possible version! I don't know how far music scientists know who composed what? Mozart pupil Franz Xaver Süssmayer and others completed the Requiem but according to Beyer they ignored some of Mozart's ideas which he tried to include. Considering that Mozart couldn't finish his Requiem I really don't notice where Mozart left and others completed the work. I agree this Requiem is probably the most beautiful ever written! 😍

Sorry, but I guess Bernstein knows more about Mozart's Requiem than your personal view. IMHO today Mozart is mostly played way too fast! This is the right tempo!
You are mistaken on the facts. If you compare B's tempi with other notable conductors past and present, his tempi comport with the other's...some slower some faster...
@@MusikPiratCH Why would I care about your honest opinion? Music is an interpretation. This one is painful to listen to. Whoever is conducting it. Have a good day.
One of the best (if not, THE best) piece of music ever written

The lady on the album was Felicia Montealegre. The performance marked the 10th anniversary of her death.
10th anniversary? 1978-1988
@@merrypresent Thank you for pointing out my mistake.
Thank you for pointing out that it was a photograph of her. It gives the Requiem more meaning to me

Boooa!!!! (Good ooone!!!!)
Intro is just absolutely incredible, what a piece of music....spin chilling ...think the tempo is spot on
My favorite from Mozart, and my favorite version by bernstein, thank you for uploading since I moved and couldn't bring all of my cds ;-;;
Meravigliosa Bernestein riesce a far emergere ogni strumento, organo meraviglioso
Це найкраще що чуло людство
Sublime
beste version vor allem vom schluß. ppp
Franz Beyer version. Great!
perfect except for 15:20
...You are right. The retardando there is entirely excessive and unmusical. It seems as if it had come from someone else's performance...
Should be in my view faster
No not at all - just the right tempo! Today Mozart is played way too fast in most cases! Bernstein always knows what he is doing!
painfully slow
