Hi Dave, You do the very best waves and seas on the internet. You make it look so effortless. I have watched all your videos so I can't wait for a new one to be posted😁 I would love to see some wildlife painting plus I know I would enjoy watching you paint a portrait. Take care, Best Wishes from South Africa.
Hello David, I would love to see more sea scapes to completion. Much more western and land as well to completion. love this painting of course. Take care Dave.
Oui une vraie merveille comme toujours vous êtes un grand artiste et je vous remercie de me donner la possibilité d'apprendre en votre compagnie Monsieur David Jansen Merci 🤩.
Beautiful beach scene. Love the tones. Great lesson on how to create the water, the waves, the beach, and their interaction. Loved the clouds too. Thanks for the thin - thick application lesson and sharing how to make the thick extender gel. Yes, please do a beach scene painting from start to finish.
Thank you! Love your seascapes, landscapes and westerns and how you explain everything so clearly. Would love to see more full length tutorials on all.
I am forever drawn to land and seascapes but you’re the only artist I’ll watch paint wildlife and flowers. Seems you always have something new to share with us like the gel you mixed up. Love what you’re doing. Thank you.
Thanks once again Dave, I love watching from start to finish, you're an inspiration . I'd love to also see & learn animal wild & tamed paintings and portraits. ☺ Shirley
I am loving the versatility the acrylic thickener brings to the table! Painting that fox using the thickener with the extender was maybe the most enjoyable time painting ever! Thank you David!! Awesome seascape btw! Looking forward to live lesson Saturday morning!!
Great painting going to do this today now we are coming into winter the thought of deer and hares Robins!! Really excites me but anything you chose I will follow ! Thank you David I am really settling into sime lessons now with confidence and practice as you sat is key !!!! What fulfilment it brings God bless you!
I really appreciate how you explain everything.....how to use thick and thin paint, different brush strokes, dark into light. Thank you so much for the landscapes.
Oh yes, this one gives me a great interes doing a big seascape with these wonderful different consistancy techniques and a lot of more stuff and details. I like also this gel and all the fantastic posibilities to paint with it. I made myself a little jar of this Gel, but I already know it's defenitly too small!!
Looks really well painted David. I shared one of your other pieces with my students and they really enjoyed watching how you paint. I have a question: I’m curious as to why you’ve chosen acrylics as opposed to oil. I used acrylics for a couple of decades and was never quite satisfied with how they were. Since I’ve switched to oil, I’m much happier. Admittedly though, I did not use the mediums that you’ve selected, and that could easily be a big difference!! I might revisit the acrylics using the mediums you suggest. Thanks and God bless!
I used to paint in oils. I got cadmium poisoning at 25 from them. Changed my life. Went to acrylics and never looked back. I have spent the last 40 years developing new acrylics and mediums to increase the workability of the media. Today, I don't worry. My grandkids come over to my studio almost daily and I don't have to worry about the 5-year-old around anything I use. They are all nontoxic and safe. For me, it is a safety issue. Others will disagree, but I speak from experience as a paint chemist. Thanks!!!
My paintings are really improving now that I am following your attitude a far as letting the viewer read the impressionist brush work. I'm now pushing the brush now, which I never did before, and using random strokes. You are a great teacher!
I’ve just had a chance to watch the seascape all the way through as you suggested on Saturday. I’m intrigued by the textures and consistencies. I’ll be pushing paint all week! Thank you, thank you! Simply wonderful and so engrossing.
Thank you so much for such a great tutorial! I am a beginner and have been looking for this type of loose painting tutorials! You are exactly what I look for! THANK YOU 🙏🏼 and I love how well you explain it.
This was an exciting tutorial to watch and learn. Thank you for explaining in detail the techniques to push and challenge our painting abilities and build confidence!
I definitely advocate watching a painting from beginning to end….I learn so much, especially with how you do your finishing details…..I’ll watch everything you do!
I watch a lot of UA-cam and your on the top of my viewing list because I love watching you painting and explain your techniques. Could you do more paintings of the southwest…Thanks Dave 🎨🖼
WOW David! I've been away for awhile, but what a incredible painting to come back to! Looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do. Still watching but I wanted to say what a fantastic creator and teacher you are. This one is at least a 4 times I need to watch...so much great information! I gotta pay attention so I write later😉. 😊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊
I thoroughly enjoy your landscape demonstrations, or, in this case, your practice piece of a seascape and waves. Your step-by-step description of your process and technique is wonderful…..a great learning tool for understanding the application of paint color, thick and thin, brush or knife, and so on. Thank you for sharing your knowledge….looking forward to finding the thickening medium to enhance my paintings!
Thank you so much David! It was mesmorising watching you paint this seascape and I would have loved to see you complete it. I also wondered whether you were going to add the trees in the foreground. You have a wonderful teaching style and are so generous sharing your knowledge and expertise in this way. This is exactly the loose, impressionistic style I would love to develop and i'll be watching this seascape demo over and over until all the information sinks in! In the meantime, I'll be searching out some of that thickening medium. I am in awe of your ability to look at a colour on your reference material and colour match it straight away with your paint. I do make colour swatches for reference but apart from the obvious mixes, I find colour matching challenging. Do you have any lessons on that subject? Thank you again for all your help it's much appreciated.
Hi Sue, I will probably ass some trees on the larger painting. They will help push back the scene. I have so much on color mixing and theory. I have been teaching it for over 35 years and have a very very large online class on the subject. It is a never ending class and I am always adding to it. Color theory is KEY to understanding art and making techniques easier. You will find all my classes here.. JansenArtOnline.com The specific class is S201 Color Theory. Over 100 hours of lessons.
Wonderful lesson. Needed the extra instructions on the use of the gel and open medium. I was a little confused when I was watching the Saturday morning session but this helped to clarify so much. Can some of the medium be mixed into the piles of paint on the palette to keep them wet. I have so much trouble with the paint drying. I appreciate/love being your student. Thank you.
Sometimes I include them. Most of the time I keep as a record, especially if there are changes. I do frame and display some. Depends on the client and the gallery.
Your landscape looks more realistic than the photo yet still retaining that impressionistic quality. Marvellous work David.✋🌺🇦🇺
Many thanks Penny!
Beautiful coast!
Thank you!!!
Wow wow what a great teacher you are. Wonderful motivation, and techniques. Thank you.

Thank you Vincent. It is all related so sometimes you pick up something with a flower and works so well in a wave or rock. Thanks so much!
Hi David! It was incredible watching you build and take away the waves and how to use thick and thin paint! 😊
Thanks Janee! That thin thick really helps you grow as an artist and makes some techniques so much easier to accomplish.
Beautiful Work David 🥰❤️
