Man, you are awesome! Thank you so much. I followed all your steps and I managed to replace my display. My sincere congratulations for your clear explanation from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 🙏
This was just the video I needed. In addition to a broken screen, my hinges were also broken, so the full tutorial on how to replace the entire display was clear and helped me to save an otherwise very good laptop from going to e-waste. Thanks for the clear steps and helpful video!
Thank you for this video, mine worked perfect. A couple of differences but mostly the same. Mine had an extra pin connector with the ribbon that connects the the screen back to the laptop plus three small screws at the bottom of the screen frame.
I disconnect the wifi in order to remove the whole display with the plastic. This way is much easier to work. You can replace it without removing it also.
Hello. I cracked my screen by closing it and not realizing I had left a cherry pit on my keyboard. I couldn’t help but laugh. The replacement was successful. Thank you so much. This video was super helpful. Only thing is I broke the cover bar for the hinge. Is there anyway to put it back on? I’m thinking to just super glue it back on.
9:59 why did you apply the tape just to take it off? I don’t know anything about computers in this matter, a buddy at school had his laptop screen cracked and I thought to look for myself on yt to see how it can be changed rather than paying as imo it doesn’t seem like a difficult task at all just patience and correct tools.
I apply double sided tape. So when one side is stick to the plastic, I remove the other isolation layer so that the other side get open and the display get stuck to it.
I didn't disconnect battery before removing the screen cable... I was fixing the hinge.. After finish my screen is black not showing light.. But outside screen is working... Did I mess the screen because not removing battery first?
No need to remove the wifi cables in order to replace the display. But if you gonna replace the whole display assembly you need to swap the wifi and camera.
If you phonically damage you display the warranty will not cover it. If everything is fine and no sign of damage, the warranty should cover it. Otherwise the display cost around 100$.
At 4:25 you start removing the grey bottom bit below the screen before removing the black edge at around 4:55. I thought it was much easier to reverse that and start with the black rim before removing that grey bit. Is there a good reason to do it your way that i am not seeing?
the gray bottom is on a slide mechanism. So if you try to remove the black first, there is a big chance to brake the plastic bits, that are holding the gray bottom.
Hello! My screen is showing green horizontal lines (but not the entire screen, there is a clear display up top maybe an inch) and i think every 2 to 3 hours it flickers and it goes back to normal. But when i shut down/sleep and turn it back on, the green lines showed up again. Is the problem the lcd cable loose to the display?
If is the cable, when you wiggle the screen it should do it. Probably a loose connection on the screen side, or the screen itself. Try to move the screen to see is it changing
@@LaptopDisassembly I'm using an IdeaPad 3 too btw. Do i need to follow the whole step in this video if I just disconnect and connect the LCD screen cable to the display?
@Ping182MS yes, coz in order to have access to the back side you need to separate the display from the back cover. Can you upload a picture of the problem someplace so I can have a look.
I changed the display and now the PC does not show anything but a screen with a backlight. I connected an external display and it is the same thing. Just a blank screen. Sometimes I get flashing vertical and horizontal lines. Not sure what happened. No sounds, no beeps, no anything. Have you had this issue before? Thanks.
@LaptopDisassembly Thanks for the reply. I did disconnect the battery. I will try to dismount and mount the ram chip. I tried accessing BIOS, and it seems to do something, but all I get is a back lit black screen.
Are you sure the display is compatible... Try with the old one to see is it behaves the same. Sometimes if the display is not compatible it shows only backlight or only white display.
@@LaptopDisassembly I used a plastic spunger nad it popped right off. I changed the screen in about 5 minutes. Actually i took off the screen in 5 minutes. new screen tomorrow. @JesusIsUnstoppable sometimes the middle plastic is on a slide mechanism, and if you open it directly it breaks. For me is more easy to remove the whole assembly.
How do I know if the display is damaged or is only the connector, bc my display and connector looks like new and if I connect an external monitor it works but the display is still black
I have same problem. Everything looks new but no display. Screen is black. My keyboard backlight works fine. When I use an external monitor, everything is perfect. Done all software fixes I could find on UA-cam to no avail. What could be the problem?
I installed the new screen but when I turned the laptop on, the screen didn't work. I believe the display connection might be the problem. But now I'm afraid to open it up again in case the new screen breaks. Any suggestions?
Disconnect the screen from the board and test on external display with HDMI. If there is a picture, than the connection on the display side can be the problem. If you gonna remove the display, put some alcohol on a sharp blade or a opening tool and slide it.. this way you will remove the adhesive easy
Okay, I got it open again and reinstalled it. Now the display kind of works - I can see the images but it's as if there is no light. They are kind of grey or shadowed.@@LaptopDisassembly

Hey brother,
Thanks for the video. What size double sided tape did you use?
Some no name brand. I have it from the local tool shop. All i know is it is 12cm. wide. it is thickж as paper. :)

If you did broke the pins, the only way is with super glue, or hot glue. With the second one you will be able to open it again, if needed.
Noted, thank you so much. I will use hot glue just to not permanently close it.

If you have some sort of insurance about it, yes. If no, I highly doubt it.

Did you disconnect the screen while the battery was plugged in. If yes, you may burned the backlight fuse on the display.
Must i detach the entire lcd lid? Im thinking to just replace the panel by dc battery cable, but display and wifi cable still intact..
No need to remove the wifi cables in order to replace the display. But if you gonna replace the whole display assembly you need to swap the wifi and camera.
