i mean the years still far from over and there’s a lot of great artists supposed to drop still so who knows. But Tyler already proved the grammys don’t mean anything last year when he won rap album for Igor which was far from rap.
I think if we compare them in their respective lanes with CMIYGL being kinda like classic hip hop mixtape and Igor being more like a RnB soul album I think it depends on your preference. I prefer hearing Tyler rap so this album was so great for me
It all depends on what you like to hear both conceptually and sonically . I appreciate his work so much . Comparing is very subjective - all based on personal preferences.
CMIYGL is my current favorite Tyler album. I do love Flower Boy and IGOR (and Wolf but it’s just kinda hard for me to listen to with it being 70 minutes long), but this album combines what I like about both albums AND his earlier music. Plus, it treads new territory for Tyler since he usually isn’t flexing
@@chops_chops yeah he isn't trying to make an objectively better album. He already said he doesnt like rapping, not as much as singing atleast. Hes doing this because it's a dream of his to have a Gangsta Grillz and also to show he can still do it.

This video perfectly puts to words how I feel about this album, and what I've been thinking about while listening to it. This is presented as Mixtape type album but shows to be much more with recurring themes. Great analysis!
IGOR honestly felt more streamlined. I enjoy this album but not as much as IGOR and Flower Boy. I think if it dropped at a different time I would enjoy it more
@hoochiecoochie It's hard to explain but I feel like if it dropped last year or early this year it would feel more natural. Probably because of the tons of people dropping albums this year making Tyler's album feel insignificant in comparison
One of the most gorgeously produced albums I've ever heard. The sample choices are simply perfect, and Tyler morphed them into luscious, warm, colourful instrumentals, that I can't get enough of. I love DJ Dramas involvement too. I think he adds a level of continuity that ties the whole project together. I have a hard time deciding if this is my favourite Tyler-album or if Igor is.
I'm intrigued about the Grammy's. So far this has been the best album of 2021. As much as this video has proved why it should get album of the year, he may get Rap album of the year again because 1. He could get nominated for both but have more competition for album of the year when facing Billie Ellish and Lil Nas upcoming albums or 2. He would easily win rap album of the year, but only nominate in Rap because the white old men dictating the Grammy's still see him as "urban"
I feel like CMIYGL made me appreciate Igor more, and I wasn't really sure why but having seen this video, I think Igor makes more sense to me now as a step in the growth toward CMIYGL. Anyone else feel this?
Loved cmigyl cause it felt like he took the best of WOLF and igor and combined them to one. With the lyricism, beats, story telling, feature list, its really reminiscent of the best of both albums. I honestly think WOLF is still the king of tyler albums but this is a close second.
Very first Tyler album I’ve listened to and MAN, it was so refreshing honestly. I’ll be honest for a long time I was one of those people that bashed on new rap but because I didn’t take the time to actually find the good stuff. I’ve become a big fan of jack Harlow, baby keem, and now tyler
RISE! is such an underappreciated song. They way it uses that sample from The Persuaders to give a melancholic feel to the beat in contrast with his empowering vocals and lyricism is genius.
Also between 6:45 to 7:15, everything you said 100% matches with what i recently went through, i dipped my toes in on this "friendly relationship" with my best friend's ex and we both fell in love, but she couldn't commit to be because she's also my ex's best friend and she didn't wanted to hurt her like that by being with me publicly. i definitely love her more than the guy she's with rn, and it hurts but I'm totally happy with where i am at the moment. But I'm also glad i got to hook up with her, and all the great things we did together. So that was insane, what you described.
id say this album is a mix of self value and achievements. throughout the album its very clear that he knows he has made it and that he can achieve anything he wants, as well as show off and such. but you still see the essence of self value and acceptance.
I have to agree with you. Most people will say it doesn’t live up to IGOR but this is a hip hop album and Igor fans aren’t as into the styles he focuses on in CMIYGL but for me this is his best

Igor ends on a question mark because it’s a perfect circle. Are we still friends ends on an incomplete cord but if you play Igor’s theme immediately after it completes the chord. It symbolizes that he’s trapped in the feelings that he has, unable to escape. Which is why it’s a perfect album
