My personal favorite part is when Wonka just places the tickets on just a random 5 on the conveyor belt. Even he doens't know where they're going and it leaves everything up to chance. Making it all the more satisfying that he just so happened to get a 1/5 chance of getting the perfect successor.
I like the touch that he does it personally. Every other part is done by machines, but the tickets are placed by Wonka himself. It gives it a more personal feel, and makes the tickets seem even more important than they already are.
I remember cruising around the neighbourhood at midnight with the windows down and this at full blast on the stereo. Lord only knows what people would think if they were awake at the time
God, i just LOVE how they matched up the music to what is going on in the background. It starts off in the fog, with an eerie violin and epic drum. Then cuts to the scale of the factory with an intense and epic trumpet, while climbing up with the intensity… The title of the movie gets an actual masterpiece of music. Sounding wondrous, mysterious and BIG. Then you see the chocolate being poured and moved on the conveyor. The song sounding very mechanical and fast, like the conveyor. It then slows down and gets calmer with the fans, as if the music is cooling off (like the chocolate). It then speeds up again, with hard drums and chanting, when the chocolate is being pressed down. As the chocolate is being lifted and grabbed onto the clampers, the music begins to sound mechanical again, the presser spinning in the foreground. The music then sounds angelic, as the chocolate is lifted and passed through the air. We then get another epic trumpet with the parachuting chocolates, seeing how creative and masterful wonker’s factory is. Then you have the golden tickets being placed, the music completely changes to enchanting and magical with the sound of the xylophone. And then seconds later the music kicks up A LOT, to intense, fast and scary. Just like the machines that are wrapping the chocolate. They are intimidating and quick. The box wrapping, and then putting the labels on has one of my favourite parts of the song. The music is just composed with everything. A little bit of mysteriousness, wonder, speed and just catchiness LOL. GOD what a masterpiece to the start of a kids movie.
