I love Patty's performance. She makes all of their songs more enjoyable!!! I'm almost 22 and wish more people around my age sang like this, and just had fun!!!
I was a tiny kid when this was new and I remember it on the radio - Everything you saw and heard then was about the war and soldiers and sailors - I tear up hearing it again
i saw this movie just this year, when i heard about it last year. i got bored and looked it up on my little roku. this movie is called private buckaroo and its on amazon prime video. i absolutely love the andrews sisters and i love this movie. i showed it to my grandma after i watched it and she thought patty rolling her eyes like that was freaky. i think it took alot of skill, because i tried to do it and i couldnt. much less sing while doing so. i miss them so much. most of my playlists consist of them.
Patty is so expressive and exciting to watch, I absolutely love watching her perform as much as I enjoy listening to her! She was a born entertainer, that's for sure.
Today, most music has a story line behind it, but I can't hear the lyrics. I usually have to search it up...but music back in the 1940s was so clear I can know the lyrics the first time I hear the song. The storylines of the song weren't about losing love, like most are today, back then most of them were about finding love, being happy, and forgetting about the depressing war.
There were three little sisters Three little sisters And each one only in her teens One loved a soldier One loved a sailor And one loved a lad from the marines For the three little sister They were the fairest From Iceland to the Philippines So said the soldier So said the sailor And so said the lad from the marines And when the boys marched away The girls said they'd be true until The boys came back someday Now the three little sisters Three little sisters Stay home and read their magazines You can tell it to the soldier Tell it to the sailor And tell it to the marine Three little sisters
There's a version of this song where a bunch of penguins are animated to look as though they are singing it in first person. It was on an episode of Pee-Wee's Playhouse, but I can't find where it came from.
My late father wrote the lyrics to Three Little Sisters, and Patty and her husband were frequent guests in our home when I was a child. I heard her sing harmony many times. She sang the solos because she had the widest range of the three.
It isn't musical talent -- it's personality. They're all wonderful singers, but Patty is a more natural performer -- i.e., she doesn't just sing, she's very 'alive' up there. The eye goes to her. You remember the wonderful chemistry she had with Lou Costello in their movies together? That's it.
I would bet a large sum of money that this song directly inspired the theme to the Brady Bunch. Most certainly it is incredibly similar musically - it's the same chords and the melody is in the same register with the same motion, but come on - can you think of another song that tells a story of three little sisters and then gives a short summary of each one?
Allora vediamo: un Omega per Maxene, un Rolex per Patty e un Girard Perregaux per LaVerne. Anzi no Ho deciso, Zenith Per Tutte. Parer vostro o anche No, i loro orologi non dipendono da voi

I hope we can meet.
I’m 13 and couldn’t agree more!
Lo Spiraio di Luce in mezzo al Buio della Guerra
My mother sang all day while cleaning or cooking or comforting a baby . I remember this song.

Magical to say the least. And to think, pop music of our time is all so seedy and processed these days.
Ok boomer
@@theonlyMoancorewhy so rude?
It was strange while listening to other music, and the name of the Andrew Sisters happened to the group thent back in time of the40
There were three little sisters
Three little sisters
And each one only in her teens
One loved a soldier
One loved a sailor
And one loved a lad from the marines
For the three little sister
They were the fairest
From Iceland to the Philippines
So said the soldier
So said the sailor
And so said the lad from the marines
And when the boys marched away
The girls said they'd be true until
The boys came back someday
Now the three little sisters
Three little sisters
Stay home and read their magazines
You can tell it to the soldier
Tell it to the sailor
And tell it to the marine
Three little sisters
They just mentioned Philippines in the lyrics and I am thankful no overproud Pinoys are bombarding the comments.

Why does Patty always get the solos? I feel bad for her Other sisters. (and yes, I know there's a song about that.)
Senpai :3 She could only sing the melody. She couldn’t sing harmony.
she was the lead singer
Thomas Nix I know sweetheart. Patty sang the melody, Maxine sang the high harmony and La Verne sang the low harmony.

Song written by Irving Taylor and Vic Mizzy.
