  • Radio waves from the Dark Ages of the universe still linger in space, but scientists have not yet been able to observe this early era of cosmological history due to radio interference on Earth.
There are few places in the universe where there is enough radio silence for the Dark Ages Signal to be detected. One of them is the lunar far side.
So, scientists from Brookhaven Lab, NASA, Berkeley Lab, and the Space Sciences Lab are collaborating to send a radio telescope to this hidden side of the moon.
The lunar far side experiences total darkness for 14 Earth days, followed by 14 days of brutal sunlight. Coupled with 500-degree-Fahrenheit fluctuations in temperature, the treacherous conditions present a plethora of challenges. But the combined efforts of world-class researchers are set to make history and uncover some of the universe’s biggest mysteries.
